Did some editing to make it more correct, you can thank me later babe.
Potential isn't worthless. Gasoline is valuable for it's potential energy, but since potential = worthless, let's just throw out all our gasoline.
Piracy would be like going to a friend's house who already has the magazine and then taking the pictures.
Not necessarily. Taking pictures of all the pages in a magazine, no matter how it was acquired, could still be Piracy, as it's the unauthorized copying of said works.
holy fuck it's stealing how matter how you swing it, just because theft is defined in a certain way you have to think about how those laws were written when things like home computers were alien, the concept of being able to physically *duplicate* someone's property did not exist as such. piracy is theft, it is illegal, it's still breaking a copyright agreement that is protected by multiple international laws and i STILL don't give a fuck
if you'd steal something, the place where you steal it from loses money because they paid for that product to sell it for a higher price and make profit, but now that product actually costs them money if you'd let a mechanic fix up your car and you drive away without paying, then the place where the mechanic is employed loses money because they still have to pay the mechanic for his labour when pirating a game, no one loses money because you're not taking anything away from anyone
the concept of being able to physically *duplicate* someone's property did not exist as such.
yes it did and the couple of posts above you explain this
Piracy has been around since the 1600s and 1700s, when printed publications were common and people copied them and sold them illegally.
All people have done, is feebally try and track them down or just whine about it. Technology is enabling this to be done a ton easier, thus it is a lot tougher to track down. I think giving up is the final solution. :unsmith:
Piracy is distributing and using digital goods without a license to do so.

And you underestimate the power of the printing press. They are quite similar.

Piracy is stealing shit on the high seas.
Has piracy itself ruined any artist's career, because he didn't get money off his album? Or what about the film directors/studios, have they ever gone bankrupt because people pirated their films? I don't think so. Hell, the film industry can even afford to all make shit films in case you haven't noticed, and the industry keeps growing with all the special effects and sky fucking high budgets, HD-XD cameras, whatever. So, what the hell?
SOMEONE STOLE MY MUSIC VIDEO! Its on YOUTUBE now. Search : Justin Bieber - Shitty Head
when pirating a game, no one loses money because you're not taking anything away from anybody
The people who made the game lose money because you haven't payed for it.
Everything should be free and we shouldn't have to pay for anything because trademarks are signs of capitalist oppression.
Everything should be free and we shouldn't have to pay for anything because trademarks are signs of capitalist oppression.
Well put, sort of. Also on a related note to your message; Why do we have to pay to live on our HOME PLANET?
I only pirate when I think the product isn't valued right, or when I just want to test something. Some developers overprice and that causes people to pirate. If games were all around $15 then less people will pirate and more people will buy making the developers more money, but they are greedy. So people just download it for free, because they can.
I only pirate
Good job.
Snip, Misred
The people who made the game lose money because you haven't payed for it.
no, they aren't *losing* anything they just aren't gaining, there is a difference and you sound ignorant if you can't tell.
are you seriously comparing books that are handwritten to software? software can be duplicated in seconds, books that were re-written by hand and sold would take months, or years. that's a totally different can of worms
that is so not the point. the point is that it's piracy back then, handwritten or not. [editline]21st April 2011[/editline]
The people who made the game lose money because you haven't payed for it.
explain me how they lose money if someone pirates a game
You both know what he meant when he said "lose".
I only go YARR-HARR on games with intrusive DRM, read it as SecuROM based games (I have a reason to, I've bought ASS Effect, and after installing it, my DVD Burner simply gone mad, and I had to fight ALOT against SecuROM to get it off my PC, ending up formatting. (Thankfully I had 2 partitions)) And also, the "SAFE PIRACY": -> Games I already have but the disk broke (Basically, 99% of my old games) -> Games I'm in doubt if I should buy or not (Are deleted 24h hours later if disliked, and bought if.)
Once you start respecting the game developers, it's hard to pirate things.
You both know what he meant when he said "lose".
it doesn't fucking matter, when you put it that way it sounds god damn retarded because it's incorrect context
You both know what he meant when he said "lose".
uh he said 'lose' so I am just going to assume he did mean 'lose' which is a quite stupid thing to say
We can all agree that sneaking into a movie theater without paying, even a relatively empty one, is wrong. Right?
Ummm...
Doing what you want as a pirate you're free. You are a pirate. Yar har !
