Why would I get banned for asking this? Its a generl question under general discussion. EVERYONE PLEASE QUIT COMMENTING UNLESS YOUR HELPING, ITS ANNOYING WITH ALL THE JERKS WHO ARENT HELPPING, READ THE STICKY, YOUR BREAKING THE RULES IF YOUR NOT HELPING OR BEING A DOUCHE
you could get banned, because what you are asking sounds a whole lot like piracy. I'm not an expert, but making an ISO of a steam game sounds like warez. I would suggest listening to the other posters, and trying to fix offline mode.
You're going to get banned because of this. If you download ANY Steam game from these websites, then you're pirating them. Talking about pirating games is a ban-able offense on here and it's also pretty illegal. You're also really fucking stupid for posting this at all. Granted, if you already own the games, then I don't think that downloading the iso would be piracy since you already own it. I could be wrong though.
i dint say that, I said if people upload them to sites, there is a way to do it.
Generally speaking you either use an .iso (a backup image you made from your retail copy) and mount it with deamon tools, or you've simply obtained the game through steam in which case you just start steam in offline mode and play offline.
ITT: also how to get banned and OP is blissfully unaware of this forum
Thank you for visiting Facepunch, don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Battery will die. 8 hour drive to Bracketville. I live in Texas and going to the other side of it.
The battery won't die in Hibernate. Hibernate actually shuts the laptop off entirely, but stores a record of what you were doing on the hard drive. So instead of Windows booting, it just loads the last record Windows stored. Works fine if your laptop can hibernate.
OP, Go into Steam, choose "Offline mode". Play your singleplayer games.
why the hell is this thread still open?
You can only make ISOs (disk images) out of real discs if you want them to work. You can then emulate them. Steam doesn't even use physical media so I have no idea what makes you think that would work.
So yeah, that .iso/Daemon tools stuff only works if you use a clone of a retail copy IIRC. Those files always contain the setup files from the disk, not the files that end up on your hardware. Steam "automatically installs" games, so you don't have the setup files you'd find on a CD, and only those files can be put on an .iso and mounted. So you can't exactly make a private copy of your stuff unless you bought a retail copy. And, depending on your jurisdiction, that might be illegal. Try what other people told you, check if the offline mode of steam is still available after a reboot, if that doesn't work you'll have to put your laptop in standby and find a way to keep the battery alive if you want to keep your Steam games available. Hope that wraps it up.
Why don't you just hibernate that shit
k, everyone calm the fuck down .iso is what is known as a disk image. It's a way to store a CD without having to physically have a CD of the game. GMOD and Hammer don't come on CDs (they're download only), so anyone who says they've got a fucking .iso of it is a retard. If you want to keep your steam games offline, then you need to get your steam offline mode working, whether it be with hibernation or standby or whatever the fuck you choose. .iso files will NOT be able to store your steam games. Your garrysmod addons folder is probably bigger than a fucking DVD anyways if you've got your aforementioned "millions of Subversion updates". /thread Also, this is the correct forum.
