So you're Christian
However due to the fact there is no evidence disproving and no evidence proving god.
There's no evidence disproving invisible unicorns and no evidence proving invisible unicorns. Why don't you believe in them? [editline]05:35AM[/editline]
wait what I think something has been lost in translation or something here. [editline]09:37PM[/editline] Anyway, spooks is wrong. In history an absolute fucking shittonne of paranormal things have been proved to be true. It's just that once it's been proved it enters the realm of science and not the supernatural. Gunpowder used to be thought of as magic. Who's to say we're not similarly ignorant to the truth as people who thought that and lots of things?
That's not paranormal. People believing it's paranormal/supernatural=/= it actually being paranormal/supernatural.
athestism is a religion so ha
athestism is a religion so ha
I can't tell if you're being serious or not. I've heard the "atheism is a religion" error paraded all around, but typically they at least spell "atheism" somewhat close to correctly. They sometimes transpose the "e" and "i". The thoroughness with which you butchered the word "atheism" leads me to believe you are a troll, but then, one can never be too sure. I guess what I'm trying to say is, what?
As one of my friends once explained to me, humans have strong eletrical energies in their bodies. Since energy doesn't simply "vanish" when you die, it's logical that that energy could still "float" (for lack of a better word) around, and we would visualize them as ghosts.
This is about as dumb as thinking that rubbing a balloon on the carpet and making static electricity creates balloon ghosts.
"It's logical that that [sic] energy could still 'float' ". This is highly logical. Listen to him.

It is based on my feeling about life and I can't make you understand that just hear that I'm not about to get into a hypothetical war. I am just advocating civility and acceptance of disagreement.
Sounds like you're agnostic, bro.
Is there a term for this?
Yes, stupid.
You should look at religion with a realistic point of view. For instance, as the story for Buddha is told: Buddha was born next to a pool of water, he could instantly walk after birth and had lilies under every step he took on the water. Now of course that's impossible. Same goes for Jesus. (Also, scientifically, if virgin Mary had a baby, Jesus should have been a woman) What you should interpret from the story of Buddha is how he was an intelligent man and how he had everything for him readily available since birth. (Buddha was a prince) I mainly use religion to keep myself sane, not to believe in God and worship inanimate objects for no reason. Meditation and praying also helps calm the mind, lets you focus, it gives you the ability to control your own temper. One second you're extremely furious at something, another second you realize it and the fury dissipates.

It's no different from counting backwards in your head. Oh, and you can't use religion. You're using meditation. And I'm pretty sure there are more problems than just biology when it comes to a virgin birth. [editline]08:55AM[/editline]
I addressed that and understand that you do not agree with theistic beliefs on a basis of logic. And I respect that. If in a discussion to convince another you put your basis of thinking on the table as your fact. The one whom you are trying to convince takes that newly gotten information and makes a personal decision based on his belief and then says if he agrees or not. If he agrees then your goal is achieved if not then unless further information that differs from that you already stated still exists, say it. If no further information to back your side is available to your disposition then you must accept the fact that that does not agree, but respectfully disagrees. It would be unfair of me to say that all conversations go in this fashion of respect, and many theists and atheists alike often tread up on grounds of rudeness. I personally chose to uphold this in favor of my value system. I understand that logically there is no evidence to prove or disprove god, and I am not saying I am divinely right. I am just saying I disagree, wrong or right.
No. If you know you don't have a snowball's chance in hell of making an argument for your point of view you're just stirring shit up. Either faff off or find a sensible viewpoint.
I just think all religion is 100% bullshit.
I just think all religion is 100% bullshit.
fuck yeah
Anyways I can see you oppose religion in its very essence and that no good can come of it, a fair opinion however I disagree.
I don't know of anyone who would claim religion has no benefit on anything, but the thing I have issue with is that none of these benefits require religion; a good person will be good regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof. This is very similar to the cases where people have prayed for someone to get better when it was actually the medical professionals of this world that healed them, not their prayer. Thus it's attributing something to the wrong thing, Mr. Mcguffin also points this out. So what I still have no answer for is: What is the point of religion? I don't understand why anyone would willingly join any religion besides being indoctrinated into it from birth: The holy books from various religions don't contain any knowledge, apart from the 'knowledge' that can only be uncovered when you read things a certain way and once you've actually discovered them so you know what to look for, using very selective reading. The morality contained in the holy books is sometimes good, and sometimes very bad(especially in the case of Christianity), but all of these good things can and are brought upon by either genetics or social interaction, etc, thus being religious for moral reasons is just a waste of time and you have to use your own moral judgement to know what to throw out anyway. So what are you left with? False hope that you'll live forever in some form? The religious community you can belong to? What's the point?
If you don't know if your sure about believing in god, your a atheist no matter what, until you start investigating further. Of course believing in ghosts do not mean there is a proof of god, it just means there may be a proof of "ghosts".
I consider myself agnositc, in a sense that I do not know what happens after we die and we have no way to prove either side. I don't believe in any religion but I do think that untill everything in the world is proven by science then we cannot be 100% certain that death is the end. I don't know if that's the same thing though. My dad is an atheist and not usually superstitious at all, but he believes his father's house was haunted by the stuff he and his family saw there. Personally I am sceptical because I had not seen it myself, but eh what do I know. Hahaha everyone who isn't "lolololol god is totalley faek!" gets dumbs? *expects more*
You really can't just 'be agnostic'. Agnostic is the question of 'can you know there is a God, 100%?" the awsner for most is 'no'. Theism and Atheism, however, ask the question, "Do you believe in a higher being. From there you can get into complicated shit like hard theism (You know there is a God) to something like soft Theism (You believe there is a God, but don't know 100%)
You believe in outrageous things without evidence. If people ask for evidence of your claims or debunk them, you call them closed-minded robots. You're the kid in school who believes in ghosts and spiritual shit. No one likes you. You're stupid.
Have you once asked for evidence from me? No you just called me an idiot, I don't believe it outright, I have personally experience to believe it and I do not try to push that upon anyone else. Also i'm 17, not in school and don't give a real shit what you think.
Because if you don't reject the possible existence of anything but textbook science with a fiery venom you're a moron. Apparently.
What the hell dude, I clearly stated that I consider religious texts to be so controversial that it's impossible for me to believe in them or not. That's why I don't have any clear religious view. Maybe there's a God, maybe there's not, I dunno, I don't care.
ITT: Atheists fire menstrual fluids at anyone who thinks differently or has an opinion of their own.
Because its my belief that invisible unicorns don't exist. It is based on my feeling about life and I can't make you understand that just hear that I'm not about to get into a hypothetical war. I am just advocating civility and acceptance of disagreement.
:rolleye: So you actually don't know why you believe in god, you just do, and you don't know why you don't believe in invisible unicorns, you just don't. Great argument.
