herp derp carma is illogical
so i dunno where this thread has gone in the last 6 pages but i'm an atheist that believes in karma
it's a pretty good way to lead life
Karma is a silly concept. Everyone knows Karma doesn't exist, it's quite evident, there are many people who committed great evil and didn't get a just punishment. Hitler is a good example, caused genocide and got away with a quick suicide (apparently).

Well it bloody is.
Wow, I go eat some dinner and this turns into a massive flamewar. Can we not attack each others' character while we're attacking each others' beliefs?
Stop trolling. Nobody is laughing.
Sams is really reminding me of Chefao right now.

I say to you facepunch, if god did not exist, how did these magnificent miracles of the world come to exist?

I dunno. Suicide can be pretty difficult to deal with, if you're the one doing it.
Wow, I go eat some dinner and this turns into a massive flamewar. Can we not attack each others' character while we're attacking each others' beliefs?
I didn't do it that much. It's just hard to resist when you're arguing with someone who is completely ignoring what you are saying.
Wow, I go eat some dinner and this turns into a massive flamewar. Can we not attack each others' character while we're attacking each others' beliefs?
You can judge a person's character by what he/she believes in.

Yeah. I'd know.
You damn unbelievers. The Tooth Fairy and Santa's magical lunar Unicorns are going to be pissed.

They are my Unicorns, not santa's. Santa has reindeer.
Also, stop trolling Sams, it's not helping anything.
You're an idiot because you make illogical decisions based on faith and believe in something in a manner that completely ignores logic.
Who gives a fuck if it's logic or not, logic isn't the be all or end all of everything, too much logical thinking gets you only so far, what about people dared to believe and tried new things, without believing in something you are limited. Everything ever created was done by taking a leap out of the box or else everyone would be like robots and it would stay the same monotonous thing.
I dunno. Suicide can be pretty difficult to deal with, if you're the one doing it.
Not really. If I wasn't so lazy, I would dig up this one video I saw of some guy caught on camera in a police investigation. Some cop forgot to shake him down for weapons, and the second the cop left, he pulled out the gun and killed himself without hesitation at all.
This thread has turned into a big clusterfuck of "You're an idiot," "EVIDENCE EVIDENCE EVIDENCE:downs:," and "LOGIC LOGIC LOGIC:downs:"

Where exactly has something that isn't logical got us? The reason new scientific ideas came up was because the old ones didn't work, or weren't accurate enough, or because of new evidence (evidence which disproved the original theory).

Take some advice from someone that has been in your shoes before:
Quit while you are ahead.

Nice that you believe in things without any supporting evidence, you're going to go far in life.

But how would they have got to these new ideas without making changes that could be deemed illogical as it is different to what is considered the norm.

How can you get ahead when you're dealing with ILLOGICAL EVIDENCE obsessed idiots. :downs:
Look at that, we got a ghost dumb rater.
I wonder who it could possibly be.
Nice that you believe in things without any supporting evidence, you're going to go far in life.
I think logically in the areas I need to, I've had experiences that would lead me to believe partly in life after death, I believe what I do, because I can, i'm human not a fucking robot.
But how would they have got to these new ideas without making changes that could be deemed illogical as it is different to what is considered the norm.
By trying different things that can be tested and retested to produce the same result every time, which is known as evidence and then putting said evidence into a theory which can be used to predict the out come of things more accurately then the previous one.

But wouldn't it be logical by your standards to do the same things over and over again without change because it would be illogical to believe it could be done some other way?

What's the difference? Humans are after all biological machines. We have an electric nervous system, we require energy to function and such. Emotions are all byproducts of evolution and what not. Some people consider this to be a pessimistic world view, but in truth I believe it only shows that those people are pessimistic. I see it as a beautiful system, remarkable that it works as well as it does, I find it interesting how complex a human life is, how much every event can make a large difference in a persons life later on. Humans are biological robots.
But how would they have got to these new ideas without making changes that could be deemed illogical as it is different to what is considered the norm.
By testing the old ideas, and trying to answer unanswered questions, until at some point they got enough evidence to realize, hey, we're on the wrong track! Let's try this instead.
But wouldn't it be logical by your standards to do the same things over and over again without change because it would be illogical to believe it could be done some other way?
The problem was that the system they had at the time could not explain everything, and thus there was need for a new and better system. We still have this problem today, we haven't explained everything perfectly, but we have got pretty damn for being cosmological dust limited to this planet's gravitational pull. (For now)

The difference is exactly what you said, emotions.
The difference is exactly what you said, emotions.
Emotions are chemical reactions in the brain, chemical and electrical. It is a robotic process, if you had the time, you could find out exactly why a person made every decision they have ever made, from which sneaker they put on first, to why they love a certain person.

The human body actually scares me a tiny bit in that regard, in how complex and beautiful it is. How every person is a computer that can communicate with other computers, how vast our combined intelligence is as a race as a whole while we are still independent human beings. how we can have emotions and react so wildly to different situations, it just boggles my mind how every single human event in history are just a bunch of chemical reactions.
It's truly amazing, it almost seems as complex as the universe itself.
