Is that actually an MP5k? The handguard looks kind of long to be an MP5K, but it also looks kind of stubby to be a full-sized MP5.
To be fair they do seem to be outnumbered and outgunned to shit

If you guys are talking about the MP5 in that first photo, it looks like that's actually a old style MP5A2 or A3:

A buddy of mine was in the Army as an infantryman in Iraq during OIF, and from what he has told me the Iraqi Army really doesn't have the salt to be a reliable, formidable fighting force. He always complains about how they would leave their posts to go pray and would straight up just shit outside their bunkers and guard towers.

...I understand lowering the stock for use with big face shit, but I can't think of any use for this.
The stock makes me think of M79, but I don't think there's much point in adopting an entire rifle just to fire rifle grenades. And it doesn't seem to have any muzzle device for them either so...

actually I think that's the actual reason because the barrel is perfectly in line with the middle of the stock
