The Type 53, the Chinese one, is a little more reasonable when it comes to price but the wood on all the ones I have seen look awful.

An M44 can be had for pretty well under $200 before shipping/transfer if you look a little. They're a bit more than your average Nagant, but the regular ones are a little unwieldy IMO so it's worth it, especially for a gun that only costs $150 to begin with.

When i was at camden military our commandant had an m44 on a plaque on the wall at the time i didnt know what it was but i later learned it was a mosin, but it was a short mosin so it must have been an m44
