How can you tell it's a Type 56? I would've said it was an AKM with that muzzle brake. The only ways i can tell the chinese AKs from other AKs is by looking at the front sight and folding bayonet, which that AK lacks both of.

receiver indentation, smooth received cover misleads you to believe it's an type 56 [I]however[/I] type 56es have shiny bolts as opposed to the akm's blued ones, and the main giveaway is the lower handguard and gas block. Type 56s don't have that It's an AKM [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] Also type 56s rolling off the assembly lines don't have the slanted muzzlebreaks - also another giveaway

Wait so AKMs have smooth dust cover or not

AKM has a ribbed dust cover off the factory line but for all we know, it's an easily replaced part (the movie's armorers could've just slapped on a smooth one since they're readily available) and depending on the lighting and angle, they're easily missed
