The facial proportions are definitely not fine. The jawline is wrong, the eyes are so big it's cartoony, the nose is a shapeless lump and the mouth has unshaped teeth and a lack of lips. You should reform the jawline, try and shrink the eyes down if it's not too late and close the mouth and work with just lips instead of teeth, gums, etc. Anyway that's what I'd do.

in my ceramics class, to smooth the surfaces of our projects, we were giving sanding/scrub pads for smoothing/shaping once the clay had dried out a fair amount
sanding results in a matte smooth finish, using the back of a spoon/other shit results in a shiny smooth finish.

The nose is shapeless and resembles a pig's, the eyes look like they were simply drawn on and are lacking any depth at all, the eyes are huge, the mouth is small, and it just looks like a creepy cartoon altogether.
