Hey. In the far future I want to buy my first electric(2 years of metal playing on an acoustic). Is the Schecter Omen 6 & Vox VT20+ good enough for room playing?
Thanks.
You played metal for two years on an acoustic? Mad props
Well son, I'm going to tell you what everyone else is going to. You need to play a bunch of different guitars and amps FIRST and then select which ones you think are right for you.
Back to what you've specified though, a friend of mine has an Omen 6, and they're great. That's a solid investment and a good choice.
Not so sure about the amp though, I haven't had much experience with Vox amps but I don't think they're perfectly suited for a metal kind of tone, but I think someone here has a combo which is great for metal, or metalish tones.
Depending on how much money you have left for an amp, I'd look around a bit, maybe get something different

Yup. Songs from bands like Lamb of god, metallica, you get the point.

Sir, can't do that unfortunately. In my little town there's only one guitar shop which only sells acoustics. I'd have to go to the other side of the country to try some guitars.

I've read tons of reviews and the majority of them were in favor of buying this guitar. And I love its looks.

Also as I said above, I've documented myself. At first I thought about a Line 6 Spider 3 but heard it sucks.
Also, playing metal doesn't mean that I play only metal. I might need some clean tone too.

Well,it's going to be tough because of the currency, probably won't match, the price shouldn't pass the price of the Vox(160$?) but you can say some good amps and I'll check them on the local site.
Thanks.
I like your manners.
I also like your manners
~has never dropped a pick down an acoustic before
Never dropped a pick in an acoustic before either. :smug:
Dropped one in a semi-hollow though, F-holes are a bitch. :saddowns:
Also would anyone be interested in a super mario cover from me?
Rate agree for yes.
Rate disagree for no.
Rate optimistic for ''You'll post it anyway.''

[sp]I'll record it tomorrow if there is enough demand.[/sp]
Post it :v:
I also put some super mario into one of my little music instrumentals (from a half year ago)

I still don't think anyone would advise a Vox for metal, but eh. If you can only really spring for $160 you're not going to find much like what Metallica or Lamb of God use (Marshall/Mesa Boogie stuff.)
Are you talking about this $160 Vox?

You don't want to see what happens when I play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Yup, that's the one.
Remember, I don't have the money yet. I plan on "gathering" them this year, so the budget might get higher but nothing is sure.

Here's what you can do. You can look through this site and choose an amp for me that doesn't gets over 750 Lei.

Sorry for the late reply but I had a lesson to go to, so here it is now
Sucks you can't go out and try some electrics, it really is a personal thing about which guitar is better. Strictly there is no such thing as better, just something you like the feel or tone of more.
The Omen 6 is a good guitar, rest assured of that.
Everyone here hates Line 6s because they say the sound is too digitized, or synthetic. Personally I have two friends with one, one with a massive stack and the other with the combo. I liked the tones, I thought there was a lot of different settings and that it was versatile, but that's another flame war.
You will need a clean tone, an amp without one is just weird.
I can't really suggest you any other amps but I'm sure someone else can help. Also you don't need to section out parts of my post lol, but it looks pretty
What about Roland Cube 20XL - 20 W?

Dat pattern

I got a Roland Cube 15x and I think that's a great example of a beginner's amp. If that's the 20 W version it's got everything I wish I had in mine, I say go for that first up
Can't go wrong with the cube series.

And the great thing is that it's cheaper then the Vox.
So, after I buy those 2 should I buy like a new guitar cable(I heard the stock ones aren't that great) or any other misc. things?
Thanks for the help.
Stock guitar cables? lol?
What you should do, is you should get yourself a decent lead. Now take my word for it, don't get a really shitty thin cable one, thicker is better.
I haven't experienced it, but I bet there's nothing worse than coming to your room when your fingers are on fire about to play some sick riffs and then you realise your lead is broken. Basically it'll last you a long time so get a decent one.
Get some picks (hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) and if you can afford it, get a cheap electronic tuner. Then again you might have both from playing your acoustic for 2 years.
Maybe a music stand? But honestly get picks a guitar/amp and a lead and you're basically set
Not much else you physically can get

So, thick cable.
Got tons of picks(had ~20 but lost half of them).I tune by ear or use the mic with AP Tuner. If the guitar is tuned right I can tune to Drop D without any help(I can somehow "hear" when it's tuned right:buddy:)
Yeah that's drop d for you, there's that point in which you just know
Wait till you try it with some distortion

:o
I think that one is kind of visually assaulting, I like red but I don't quite think it works on that guitar
I love those patterns though, especially hellraiser

Want so bad
B major is sort of an annoying key to riff in, since you can't get the low dominant and subdominant

Well I was mostly talking about the quilt. The blue one with the arch top is sexier all in all.

I miss my blackjack c-7 so much. I can't believe i sold it. I'd get another but ALL schecters are made in indonesia now...I just can't trust that - especially since they didn't even change the fucking prices.
Oh fo shizzle. The pattern is kickass basically

Oh man, you had a blackjack C-7? That's just incredibly awesome, why DID you sell it
I'm totally happy with my C-7 standard by the way, and it is pretty new

@peavy
I love Schetcters too. Especially the red ones.
Found a video with a dude playing on a Schecter and a Roland Cube 20X.

Why is that funny?
I don't think it's funny :(
Just checking, you kind of dropped off the radar and disappeared for a while. Didn't know if you were the same person, I recognize your avatar though
But now you are back, and all is well again

Yeah I've been on Sevenstring.org a lot the past few months, nothing much was going around here that interested me - but i'd still check the music section (and guitar discussion) from time to time.
