stringed it all up, i'll get to test it out extensively tomorrow, but it sounded good over my crappy squier amp, so i guess that means a lot! :buddy:
also it looks better on a stratocaster guitar than i expected.

[sp]and why[/sp]
Don't ever get an SG Special from Epiphone. They're subpar even for starter guitars.
Their normal guitars are fine. My first guitar was an Epiphone SG-310, and it played great for costing so little.
However, my recommendation for what you should get varies greatly depending on what you want to play.

it's actually screwed in right there. it's not in the way, and i really have no other place to put it.
also i think it looks pretty cool right there.
Harmonic's are giving me :psyduck:'s
I was invited to play Bass guitar for a band; I'm so excited right now.

It's my friend's band but still...

Natural, pinch, or tapped?
Natural, pinch, or tapped?
Natural... Just pressing too hard :v:
What I like to do is kinda stroke the string parallel to the frets, just with my fingertip. That's what allows me to play smoother harmonics, but that's just me.
Natural... Just pressing too hard :v:
Just barely hover your finger over the fretwire. You shouldn't even see the string depress really.

I think I understand what you mean
I'll give it a shot a bit later.

On the bright side it means you shouldn't be having...intimate...problems :v:
On a more serious note, the string should depress a very tiny bit but it should NEVER be truly fretted.

Oh you mean for [sp]shclicking[/sp]
:shlick:
I dunno...
I've had no problems in that general area yet..
I'd say I'm better than average at it :v:
I haven't been able to perform a duo yet. I've just been performing solos.

Apparently I was a god.
And she was a sex fiend, soooooooo...
ON A RELATED NOTE, I've got a question for those of you who understand the physical workings of a guitar better than I. Yesterday I bought spare high E's for my PRS and it snapped on the first bend after I tuned it up. No particular reason, didn't do anything different, etc... But today I used another one of the spares to re-string it and for some reason it held up just fine. Any idea why it snapped? String snapped at the bridge if that helps. PRS non-locking tremolo.
Heh.
Also
Just sounds like a dud string to me.
[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
Not that I'm an expert.
@solid snake
something to do with the truss rod
or something (i dont know)

But it came with .009's and that's all I've ever successfully put on it.
maybe that string was cursed.

I had this happen once before with a light set for no good reason. String just fucking popped. For all anyone knows it could have caught on something funny when you loaded it (pokey bits on the nut or bridge), kinked at some point when you wound it, been defective...
AFAIK these things just happen sometimes. It's when it happens repeatedly when doing the same thing that you worry.
Rate agree if you're paranoid when you unwind the strings from the packet they're gonna get you in the eyes. Rate disagree if you're not.
(I'd like to see other peoples opinions)
oh god i never thought of that :(

i am now lol
Harmonic's are giving me :psyduck:'s
Yeah it took me so long to crack them
I can show you if you really want to, but you have to figure it out yourself
Plus it works somewhere a little different on every guitar
[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
try the 12th friend on the g string, or E, A or D
That's how I got it, I actually learnt how to do pinch harmonics first lol
but you have to figure it out yourself
Keep hearing that..
Suppose it's like riding a bike
Yeah except without all the bruises and tears
Another fairly easy place to catch natural harmonics is on the 7th fret.
But again you actually place your finger against the fretwire. For example, for a natural harmonic at the next octave (12th fret), you would actually place your finger over the fretwire that's just before the 13th fret.

Just for the note he's not completely a starter. He's been playing for a little longer than me.

Good tutorial on natural harmonics, helped me

Oh I wasn't implying that he was a starter. I was saying that the Epiphone "Special" models are so bad that they make most starter pack guitars look good by comparison.
Hell, my SG-310 came in a starter pack, and that played great up until the lack of a full second octave really bothered me. That, and I wanted EMG's (or some other high-output pickup).
