Okay so I'm recording shit with my 7-string
The thing is I want to have a bass track, but my bass only has 4 strings.
So, can I tune it down a fourth with ease?
If not, would an octaver for my guitar do the trick?
Get a B-string and put the other string down one, getting rid of the G.
Get a B-string and put the other string down one, getting rid of the G.
Wouldn't that mess up the neck
Yes and the nut ofcourse needs some adjustment.
Yes and the nut ofcourse needs some adjustment.
Hm, I've never done that
Is it hard?
G strings are useful, moreso than B strings.
Hm, I've never done that

I haven't done it either, I always bring my guitar to the local luthier who sets it up for free.
G strings are useful, moreso than B strings.
I use both, double octave jumps for the win!
I haven't done it either, I always bring my guitar to the local luthier who sets it up for free.
Dunno if I could do that
G strings are useful, moreso than B strings.
Probably, but right now the B string is what I need
Looks like I've got to learn Welcome to the Jungle for rhythm. This'll be the first song I ever preform.
:v:

There are other places to play a B on a 4 string bass.
I've recorded several tracks with my 7 string guitar and 4 string bass, with both in standard tuning. Just open your mind and don't constrain yourself to chugging the open lowest string available!
Chugging basslines are boring.
So after a while of deciding what guitar I should get, I think I'm going to go with an Ibanez RG120. I really wanted to get an ESP F-350, but if I got that, I wouldn't have the money to upgrade my amp as well.

For that price, you could get a Jackson JS1R as well. At least it's made out of wood haha
[editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
Though an F-350 would be waaaaaaaaaaaay better than either.

A GAX30 might be better.
A GAX30 might be better.
Yeah, or a GAX30

I know the F-350 would be best bet, but it's either an amazing guitar and a god-awful amp, or a decent guitar and a decent amp. I highly doubt I'll be getting a new guitar until at least May, so I have some time to give it more though.

Well, a F-350 is more of a pretty good guitar, and a JS1R, GAX30, and RG120 are low end.
[editline]3rd March 2011[/editline]
What is your current setup again?
Well, a F-350 is more of a good/great guitar, and a JS1R, GAX30, and RG120 are low end.
I know they're low end, but I honestly just need an upgrade from a piece of shit guitar I got from craigslist. It sounds horrible plugged in, so I've only been able to practice clean (not to mention the amp is shitty as well). If everything works out fine, I'll probably just go with the ESP, and still have some money to spare on a decent amp, but if not, I need alternatives.
I'd say get the ESP and then patrol for a used amp that doesn't suck.
If you buy a low-end guitar you'll probably get fed up with it again fairly fast.
Man, I'm cheap. All I really want at this point is an Epiphone SG. Which is actually realistic once I get some sort of steady income.
Just picked up this sweet 6 string.

Dean Custom 350 with Floyd rose.
The arm that came with the floyd rose sucks and wiggles at the joint :colbert:
But, all I had before was a decent Schechter 7 string and a bunch of shitty 6's
There was alot i wanted to learn on a 6 but didn't want to return my 7 all the time.

(My Schechter Omen 7 if you care to see it)
It's just that, not alot of people write tabs in Drop A for a 7 string. So I picked up a 6 for tuning and practicing reasons
Turning gain down?
What are you talking about it should always be at 10.
[editline]27th February 2011[/editline]
Or I should stop playing drone.
You shitting me?
The gain needs to be at 13 in order to sound properly!
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/185013.jpg[/img_thumb]
I just found my sisters old Fender Squire (and it's the 20th anniversery edition too!)
I really want to fix this baby up, and I was wondering, Is it a good guitar?
(and yeah, that couch has flamingos on it :c00lbert:)
YES! DO IT!
wow that dean looks a lot like an ibanez S series
wow that dean looks a lot like an ibanez S series
Dont most guitars look like another?
I would rather have an Ibanez but, I really respect a small shop around my town, and he gave me a great deal on this guitar. $300? thats good right?
My guitar now has string rattle
I sure hope the neck isn't bowed
Well, a F-350 is more of a pretty good guitar, and a JS1R, GAX30, and RG120 are low end.
I could actually imagine using a GAX30 on stage, it's a great guitar even though it's cheap. Really the best solution is to try all four guitars out and see which you prefer.

Yeah, so: F-350 = pretty good, GAX30 = good, JS1R and RG120 are low endish.

The only problem with that is my local guitar shop doesn't deal ESP, so I'm going straight off of peoples opinions on that one. I'll try out the Ibanez ones and the Jackson, though.

Oh wait, the F-350 has a Floyd Rose right? Unless you want it specifically, I recommend against owning a guitar with a floyd rose, or a floating trem period really.
Check out this for a similarly priced ESP. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-H351NT-Electric-Guitar?sku=584491
That's like a slightly lesser version of mine, as mine has binding all the way throughout the neck and headstock, and I think mine is made in South Korea, and that's made in Indonesia. I also have EX-401DX from Indonesia, and it is of very high quality.
And then there is this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HI-PRO-APPOINTED-M-KELLY-STAGE-VEX-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-/180632745319?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a0e8cf567
That is a GREAT deal for that guitar, and I almost bought it myself. According to The Tone King, a YouTube amp/guitar etc reviewer, it is amazingly priced, and awesome quality, not just for the price. They are also uncommon for some reason, despite everyone who owns/has played one, love them. It's hard to judge though, since you can't play it in person, but I never played my amp in person, both my ESPs, and my TL-2 Distortion pedal. I just went off tons of reviews, and my gut. It does have a satin neck, so I don't know what that feels like. It didn't seem to both The Tone King. It has passive Rockfield Mafia pickups I believe.

This one, is pretty much the same as the other M. Kelly, except it has inlays throughout the board, and it is a clear-coated neck if you prefer that. Also, it has active pickups, Rockfield Black bettys

Trust me when I say I would only ever buy two deans, this, and the rusty cooley sig.
everything else is ugly and I hear bad things about quality.
