You guys didnt know Line 6 do guitars?
Every guitarist knows that the Variax Acoustic has one of the best acoustic tones ever,
Does it not buzz with another amp? My first guess would be that it is the guitar.
Well, I know it isn't fret buzz, and it doesn't happen at a lower volume.
It probably is the tubes, they're old as shit, I'll go buy some replacement tubes today instead of putting it off like I have been.

I am very impressed Line 6. It even has the ringing from the bigsby down.
auto tune whammy
I like
I keep getting a buzzing noise from my amp, that sounds like radio static, even though I have a humbucker, which is supposed to get rid of background noise. When I turn on distortion it's pretty obvious, and using a noise gate doesn't help, so I don't think it's the humbucker I installed. Anyone know how to get rid of it? I don't think a faulty cable would cause static, but I'll see if I can find one to test it with.

There's a huge chance it's the cable. I got a really cheap cable lying around which "broke" and the noise it makes is terrible. It's like Gain on 10 with singlecoils without playing any notes.
Same.
I think I actually want one of those really bad, even if the four-knobbed weirdo version looks a little...off.
Also, Instant drop tuning, as well as being able to set ANY tuning you want within a minute. :gizz:
It sounds awesome too.
So im planning to buy my first distortion pedal for my bass.
The question is should i get one of the cheaper ones or bit more expensive one?

I have that happen when I'm upstairs next to my fan and computer, if I turn off my fan and computer, it goes away. Since I replaced my cable with a monster cable, I can keep my comp and fan on without any noise. I take it the cable doesn't have very good shielding.
Also, I narrowed down the noise, it was some loose parts in the amp itself, INCLUDING the speaker housing. I'm going to go buy some new tubes in a while because I do need them, and I'll give my amp a cleaning it needed 20 years ago.
Sound is fixed, thanks for your help facepunch.
The issue is, I tried it with two cables, and both times it did the same thing. I may try unplugging my old crap amp and my bass amp from nearby, and see if that gets rid of it.
EDIT: okay, that's weird, I just noticed it actually gets WORSE with the noise gate on.

If you want cheap but still good, the Digitech Grunge pedal actually sounds quite good on bass. (I think it's terrible for guitar distortion though)
My first Youtube-video, borrowed a Zoom HD16 from the local music school where I live.

Goddamn string rattle, so annoying

Get a more expensive one if you're serious, if you just want to muck around get a cheap one. I got a behringer bod pedal for only $30 and it does me quite well.

I'm also getting a free t-shirt, free set-up, free fresh strings, and a free pack of 12 picks of my choosing :)
DUNLOP TORTEX .88's FOR THE FUCK WING WOOT
[editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
Basically if you're in the USA you should buy from drumcityguitarland.com because they actually give a shit about their customers.
Cmon, how often can you buy online and have them set up your guitar with your preferred tuning and string gauges for free? (not to mention a t-shirt...cmon...who doesn't love t-shirts?)

Damn you Americana's and your nice guitar stores :argh:
Up here in the Great North, all our music stuff is marked up 20-30% + %12 tax in British Columbia, AND our music stores don't give a damn most the time, at least in my experience. Except Axemusic.com is pretty good, I got a shirt from my Amp that was XXL :saddowns:, and a jacket that was XXL :saddowns:
I always try to order from Ebay, or USA.

wut
Also bookmarked it. I dunno that I care too much about setups much less a T-shirt, but it's nice seeing a store in the U.S. that's willing to sell an Eclipse I.

Because they're comfortable and I like them
that's why.
And metal picks are disgusting
My new Peavey Vypyr came today. I LOVE IT! :3:
Theres just so much to play around with on it! My only problem with it is that it is a bit quiet when you plug your MP3 player in to play along with it so you gotta play around with the gain to get it level, which changes your tone quite a bit. Other than that, its brilliant!
I Got a Peavey vypyr 30W from my parents as a present from my parents, i had the same problem with the mp3 thing, but i dont really mind at all, im just so happy i can record from my amp with a simple AUX cord
I'm thinking about learning to play when summer comes, if I keep up a good schedule and all that, how long should it take to learn to really play or to get a good hang of playing?

Best picks are tortex 1 mm triangles, and yeah I have two aluminium picks, really wierd but I like em.

Depends on how well coordinated your hands are.
Well, I'm a lefty but I can be pretty ambidextrious at times. I've got pretty good coordination, I guess. I can get my old man to teach me to play too, he's been playing since he was a teen.
Dave Mustaine used .88mm Jim Dunlop Tortex's, and now uses Dunlop Tortex .73mm
Also, har har at Dave's description of his Signature GHS strings:
"These strings will last longer and sound better because I said so."- Dave Mustaine

Shouldn't be that hard for you then.
My fucking dad. So I was restringing my shitty acoustic guitar, when suddenly the high E peg flies out and I have no idea where it went. I look for about an hour with my dad, (I'm supposed to be taking this guitar to my friend's house tomorrow to practice) when he's all like "well, if there's no other option", goes into his room and pulls out a fucking $3000 Ovation he's been saving for my birthday. Jesus fucking christ. Still haven't gotten over it.
One of these:
