Anyway yeah I really am fucking terrible I can hardly play the riff to Seek & Destroy by metallica
then again I only really started to play anything about 2 weeks ago and before that i sort of played some stuff for a few months but only a few hours and month then I stopped really practising and now I have a guitar so i'm more motivated to play again
Oh pish, you'll get better :v:
Just focus on learning things that you think are fun, and progression will come naturally
Lol it's alright :v:
And yeah I know, I just need to practise a lot more. I'm strongly considering getting lessons.
Thinking about going telepaul for my next custom project. Will be going out to get a huge-ass slab of northern spruce for my Christmas present (if not spruce, than maybe some other conifer, or Spanish cedar, if there's any). Spruce would be used for the back of the body, with the figured black walnut top. Probably osage orange for the neck, with an ebony fretboard. Ill be doing imitation ivory inlays (tagua aka the ivory nut) Pondering doing a solid ebony neck but thatd probably be worth it`s weight in gold, so not sure if I could afford it. Since its part lespaul, the back of the body would be chambered. All-Nitro finish. Trying to get an awesome twangy-yet-ballsy sound.
In case you dont know what I mean by Telepaul,. I mean a Les Paul shape body, with a telecaster bridge, and a P90 in the neck position. Curved top body. Not sure about the headstock yet. I like the simplicity of Cutways.
Sort of like this, anyways

Go with the les paul headstock, sexier...

Yo guys. My friend is gonna be getting an electric guitar for Christmas. It probably isn't going to be the best, but i guess that's okay by him. He can't get lessons because of his home situation. so what resources would you recommend I forward to him to help him get started?
Youtube
That's how I started, with some motivation.
Youtube has tons of helpful info to get him started, try to get him started with tabs if he is not sure he wants to play so he doesn't lose motivation but if he really want something more try to teach some basics, fret notes, a scale(pentatonic) and warm up exercises and so on.

Anybody else fucking love Rickenbackers?
I remember when I first got into The Beatles I thought they were the ugliest guitars I'd seen, but they've since really grown on me.

Fireglo 360/12 is the guitar I'm currently obsessing over.
They sound awesome but I don't like the varnished fretboards. Total buzzkill for me

I played a Rickenbacker 330 Jet Glo in the local Guitar shop, and I almost fucking spaffed my pants. The 330 or the 325 is my dream guitar.
Haven't had the chance to play one myself yet. Agree on the 325, too - part of the reason I'd love a 325 is the fact it's a 3/4 scale guitar, and the only 3/4 scale guitars made today are cheap beginner guitars for kids. Lennon used the short scale to great advantage in his rhythm guitar parts.

Also, never heard the phrase "spaffed" used before. It's great.

Motivation shouldn't be a problem. Well it may be. He really wants to play since I started playing the drums so we can jam together.
I don't play guitar myself so I can't actually help him learn this stuff, more or less suggest him resources.
justin guitar is a great resource. Metal Method is pretty good for beginners.

Haha, Geordie slang mate.
Yeah, the 330 has a lovely 'twang' sound, and looks fucking perfect.
