Yeah when I got my SE Custom I was tossing up whether to get the Paul Allender instead, but I decided I didn't want EMG's. Atleast not for the moment because I'm not likely to get a tube amp for a long time, and they sound like balls clean otherwise (unless coil tapped so I've heard). I am incredibly jealous of PwnNoobsFtw's bird inlays. God I love those things. and the 25th anniversary costs the same as the regular SE did. I just missed out *shakes fist* The bats were another thing making me think of getting the Paull Allender.
Even with the coil-tapping, the EMG's give clean tone a bit of a bite, but I like it that way. Just a tiny little bit, almost like a hot-running class-A tube amp (with minimal gain, of course...just for volume). Humbucker mode on the rhythm pickup gives a nice classic rock solo sound, and of course we all know how EMG's fare for metal leads/rhythms. But this is a coil-tapped setup. As much as I do like EMG's for what I normally play, I will openly admit that without the coil-tapped pickup, they are absolutely terrible for clean tones. With it, you can get some nice tones, but still not that pristine clean you get from passives and, say, a Vox amp. Oh and back on the topic of PRS's, it holds tune great, even the tremolo unit doesn't cause de-tuning too often, the body shape is PERFECT for fret access and strumming arm placement, and the neck plays smooth as butter.

I've never played a guitar with a nicer neck than a PRS fat-wide.
All hail the PRS master race
All hail the PRS master race
I for one welcome our new guitar overlords.
I have sex with PRS. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] And I get molested by line 6
while all you are possessed by your PRSs I'll be hiding out in my ibanez utopia
Why no love for the Epiphones? :colbert:
because they're generic and nearly everyone has one
I could say the same about Fenders. 'I know! We'll bring out another strat that looks older!'
I still love my ESP, so....
I could say the same about Fenders. 'I know! We'll bring out another strat that looks older!'
yeah fender is just as generic but that doesn't make epiphone any less so
yeah fender is just as generic but that doesn't make epiphone any less so
Says the Ibanez owner. Not that I have anything in particular against them, it's just every metalhead and his dog owns one.
Does it make them a bad brand?
this makes me think though what are you guys' second favorite brands like if you couldn't get your first choice brand what then I think for me it'd be jackson
Dean maybe, or Jackson.
Says the Ibanez owner. Not that I have anything in particular against them, it's just every metalhead and his dog owns one.
sure but I bought ibanez because the three best guitarists in the world play them gilbert vai satriani
sure but I bought ibanez because the three best guitarists in the world play them gilbert vai satriani
There are no best guitarists. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] This may go down into a long discussion if someone answers wrong.
no there are best guitarists and I just posted them
There are no best guitarists. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] This may go down into a long discussion if someone answers wrong.
Yeah we should leave it at that, or a shitstorm will go down. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
no there are best guitarists and I just posted them
There's a word for this. Trolling.
sure but I bought ibanez because the three best guitarists in the world play them gilbert vai satriani
Bahahahaha Vai. Ok guitarist, giant arsehole. Massively overrated. Try Petrucci, Satriani, Morse And I got PRS because the 2 greatest Musicians in the world play them (not in technicality, in musicianship) Wilson Akerfeldt
1. ESP 2. Jackson 3. Dean/Ibanez
My second choice would probably either be an Ibanez Xiphos 7-string, or an ESP Eclipse.

Do people really buy guitars because other people play them?
Also, I finally pmed Daijitsu to ban that plague known as Sporkfire for a month.
because the 2 greatest Musicians in the world play them (not in technicality, in musicianship) Wilson Akerfeldt
Well here we go... How about you guys just add "(In my opinion)" I so badly want to discuss about this now because this is a load of bullshit that's coming up.
you completely igonred the best in the list though :v:
I've never actually heard Gilbert. Heard he's fucking amazing though. I should check him out. And we should stop this conversation before it gets out of hand, as happens in matters such as this. Also I didn't buy the guitar just because someone else plays it of course. I played it first and it felt right, that's the most important thing when choosing a guitar. If it doesn't fit you right off the bat then it's not worth getting. One of the reasons I dislike signature models generally, although there are exceptions.
Or I am just beeing trolled  Aww you were quicker.
Also, I finally pmed Daijitsu to ban that plague known as Sporkfire for a month.
I've just been waiting for particularly bad posts and reporting them. At least most of his posts seem almost like he's trying to hide trolling with intelligent discussion, but some of them are so bad that they're almost laughable.
Do people really buy guitars because other people play them?
yeah or else companies wouldn't endorse players but I didn't buy ibanez just because some guy plays them I bought ibanez cause I like the kind of music those guys play and if they use ibanez it must be good for that kind of stuff seems like common sense to me but who knows
