I don't know why everyone seems to think removing 6 strings from a 12 string guitar and adding one low B is going to ruin the guitar. There will be probably be around the same if not less tension on the guitar then there was to begin with. IT WILL BE FINE I already have 2 nylon string classical guitars and they sound fantastic, but I want a steel string 7 acoustic.
So I took an old shitty Behringer guitar body and combined it with a shitty Peavy Raptor Plus neck. I didn't have all the parts I needed, so I attached the springs on the back of the bridge to screws, and mounted the pickup with cardboard. This is how it turned out! Full picture of guitar Body shot Back (showing bridge-springs) Close-up of the pickup The pickup is screwed into cardboard, which is super-glued to the guitar. My friend has had my acoustic for like a year, and I had a different friend's acoustic at my house for months. He finally took it back, and I can't get mine back from my friend, so I got extremely bored and decided to make this thing playable. I had started this project with a friend, but we never finished. We essentially ripped out all the electronics (terrible shit) and very shoddily re-finished the guitar body, leaving the old thick black finish on the side of the body. It plays alright, but it's not ideal.
What is this abomonation! Get a pick guard on it quick!
Oh and the pick-guard was for 3 single coil pickups. The only decent pickup I had was a humbucker from an Epiphone SG! [editline]27th December 2010[/editline]
What is this abomonation! Get a pick guard on it quick!
:smith:
I'm not saying you have bad skills man, but really a Behringer body and Peavy Neck just sounds like a nasty thing to play on. Otherwise you have marvelous salvaging skills
Okay, it's a piece of shit. But it's so much better than nothing! I was craving it. [editline]27th December 2010[/editline] I'm glad the cardboard shit worked. And I'm glad I could get the solder to join the jack from the pickup, I had the shittiest soldering iron.
Dude you've got the perfect guitar for some punk
It'd be good for some grungy shit.
Build a pickguard for it...
I'll probably make a wooden pickguard for it. Sometime in the next few years.. [editline]27th December 2010[/editline] I'd like having a light colored wood with a natural finish for contrast.
sweet

Dude that's jury rigging at it's best Have a winner, you deserve it
makes me want to go looking for cheap guitars to flip like that [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] buy two guitars tear them down combine reap the benefits (just kidding there aren't any)
You'd just have the combination of two shit guitars Get two mid level but affordable guitars and do it, then reap the benefits
Instead of buying 2 guitars just buy 1 awesome guitar :colbert:
No fuck you that's not creative enough :colbert:
:colbert:

true
I have 800 dollars to spend on a new guitar, give me suggestions. I'd like something that works good with effects.
Get a proper neck-through guitar. No combining!
Or get custom guitar parts and get buildin'

When I play, my right hand ends up right over the pickup, so when I move my hand to pick the entire pickup moves back and forth quite a bit. It's funny to watch.
