I just went to the store and ordered a FG730s acoustic guitar :) however, it's gonna take a week to come. In the mean time, I need to practice a few easy acoustic songs, preferably with chords, barre chords, stuff to strum or fingerpick. Ok I'll admit it, songs to show off : ) good sounding and fairly well known songs, as long as they aren't crappy mainstream.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

i don't expect you to learn them all/like them all, but there's some suggestions.
The Burden is Mine... Alone is beautiful. So is Dream Within a Dream. I love that whole album.
+1 on Benighted and Death Whispered a Lullaby. Since you have good taste I'm gonna listen to the others too :v:
Thanks guys : )
Alright, I'm setting a goal to record some improb to a jam track and to upload it tonight. I got my recording setup working again, which is quite nice. Could use some coffee because I'm feeling tired, but what happens happens.
Currently have
Fender Jazzmaster & Fender Telecaster
EHX Small Stone
Marshall Reflector
Boss SD1
Dunlop Crybaby (Shit sucks, I'm not delicate enough with my feet to get a kind of sweeping sound with it)
All ran into a Vox VT30
Going to buy a Memory Boy and a Little Big Muff in a few hours when I go into Glasgow. Does anyone know of any Crybaby mods to make it more of a sweeping thing ? I want to use it in a Dinosaur Jr/A Place to Bury Strangers way.
Everyone buy a Bugera 6262 head <3

I want the combo for my birthday.
Especially now that I have my beautiful new Paul Allender PRS.

What kind of Jazzmaster do you own?
I think people here have too many good guitars for their amps to Handle. Guitar and amp buying is so indifferent, because your guitars are interchangeable wwith your amp, not visa versa, this makes it so damn hard to find a good amp/guitar combo because you only get to see 1 of the two sides (which is the guitar). I may be speaking out of my ass, hope i make sense

Also, if Mesa Quad Preamps and SimulClass Power amps are still in rotation, I'm fishing them out

Sure, but nobody here is a professional guitarist.
In a hypothetical scenario in which you're all signed or successful independent musicians, you'd see way more of this discussion focused on amplifiers, because everyone would already have their axe(s) of choice and be testing or buying amps for albums/touring/whatever and getting specific types of tone down.
Here, it's a bunch of hobbyists with limited budgets, so most are still busying fulfilling the "axe" criteria to a level they're satisfied with and buying whatever amps they can afford that get them by in the mean time. And you can argue as much as you want that starting with a good amp would be better than starting with a good guitar, but it's only natural for people to primarily be concerned with the portion of the setup they directly interface with.
Ofcourse, I was going to buy some JS30 guitar, but I'm going to skip over that i think

A Blacktop. From what I heard they were far, far better than the Classic Player Jazzmasters and I couldn't afford anything apart from those two.
It's a very nice guitar, the single coil pickup is very shimmery and jangly. It feels incredible, very solid, tremolo arm and bridge are amazing, feels amazing to play. Even the bloody tuning pegs feel amazing and solid.
That said, the humbuckers at the bridge themselves are a bit weird in the Jazzmaster but the setting using both pickups is really cool sounding.
I'd seriously recommend it though, I mainly play shoegazy stuff and I can get stuff like My Bloody Valentine sounding like the albums with the gear I have.
That's awesome. I'd love to try a black top.
This is my Jazzmaster: - A Signiture Series Fender Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster

As of yet the most amazing and versatile guitar I've ever played. Seriously.

I really wanted one but I couldn't afford it in all honesty. Looks like an amazing guitar along with the J Mascis signature.

According to my jazz player friend, since I don't use reverb much, the reverb is awesome, the cleans are great. I don't really use the amps distortion cause I use my TL-2 and get really badass tones.

Someday I'd like to own a J Mascis signature. Although that's probably like, decades away.
But you're right, it is a really amazing guitar. A fantastic purchase.
Any chance of you posting pictures of yours?
I haven't touched my guitar for a week or so, I should stop being so lazy

How is that even possible? I get withdrawals after one day.
I just get bored, I'm not taking lessons because my teacher is taking a break over christmas, so I have nothing to practice and I find learning songs tedious and more of a chore than something I enjoy doing
I've gone over all the theory I've covered this year and perfected it so there's simply nothing I have to do
I can go without playing guitar for a few days, mainly when I substitute it with working on my singing or piano.

Improv, working on techniques. Also, I never get bored of my guitar.
Learning impression that I get for a break in learning difficult things
Anyway, today went to the music store, and I'm setting up my computer as a recording thing. thinking of getting a vox pathfinder 30w too.
I get bored after 30 minutes, then go back after 30 minutes...

I have improvised so much, I've reached the end of my creativity
All my riffs sound the same, or the stuff I lead into when I just noodle my way around the fretboard
It seems they are all carbon copies
I need a good affordable drumming program

New techniques then. Try hammering-on a melodic minor scale in A, then reverse as pull-offs. If you can do that already at a decent speed, keep speeding up and go as fast as possible. I don't know how much you already know, but I am just giving examples.
sadly, been there :(
I see what you mean though. Maybe when I get some inspiration I'll try again

Do something bizarre. Tune the guitar to a new tuning and start fiddling around without thinking if this note goes with this one. Just whip it.
