All guitars that can be used to stab a band member is a horrible guitar in my opinion.
I have a conspiracy theory that guitars with ridiculous shapes are shit because it costs more to develop the body, thus leaving less funds for the woods and electronics. I think it's a viable explanation!

But the ones that would just crush your skull are fine?
Oh, right, so, I've been realizing recently the only picks I like are my Claytons and Ultex sharps because...I dunno, but here's my query: What would be a good way to polish a pick to remove jagged edges after I maybe trim a few down on the tip? I'm just worried I might cut a string that way.
Or I'll give 'em away to friends over time and just go buy a crapload of sharps. Are Jazz IIIs as sharp as Ultex sharps?
I wonder what's worse; have your skull crushed open and die or to be stabbed in the stomach and bleed to death.
hi i'm gonna start posting in this thread ok

The only thing wrong with the Dean in the pic is the fucking jack socket

That would hang weirdly on a strap.

Although if dean is good enough for Dave Mustaine it's good enough for me.
I've got a 120 watt amp. Good for gigging, and if it sounds :krad2: then why worry about the ridiculous wattage? There's a volume knob for a reason
With tube amps, you really want to push them to get that signature tube sound. Using a 100 watt amp and always staying at the very low end of a volume knob will just ruin the tone and will be a waste of money. It's pointless.
For gigs too. If you ever happen to be in a position where you want the strength only a super watt amp can produce, you just use a small amp instead and mic that one. Again, you want to maximize the amps.
100+ watt amplifiers (aka guitar penis enlargers :v:) are pointless and you will never ever need to use one over a smaller model..
stop that
I'm sorry I always pick on your basses. :smith:
Looks nice and all.. but why would anyone ever need a 100 watt amp? :raise:
Bigger guitar penis? :v:
it was like 50-70 bucks more than the 50 watt so I figured may as well. I'll have more use for it.
I do hope at some point to move into a house near the city but still secluded, in which case I can play it as loud as I want and likewise make as much noise with my tools as I want. It's all part of my master plan :3:

The VT100 has a wattage attenuator on the back. You can lower the wattage to .02 if you want to play at very low volume with the same kind of high-volume drive you'd normally get only when you push the volume.
Just like the Beatles tone I probably wont use, it's nice to know the other 99 watts are there when I can use them. This will probably be the last amp I buy for a very long time, so I wanted to have all the features there in front of me. Also, it's an excellent price for a good, high powered amp package. I figured spending an extra 100-200 dollars on a 15 watt "all tube" amp would just be a waste in comparison to a 100 watt hybrid modeling amp that can easily mimic the sound of the more expensive amp, and couple that with even better response with the dual speaker setup.
attenuators are a must have for any amp bigger than a practice amp

The only time I ever had to use my 100w setting on my attenuator was when we did a "battle of the bands" thing at my school on a stage outside. I had to set it to 5 max and it blew my ears.
there is nothing wrong with Dean except that they milk Dimebag's name
I'm sure they play fine, I just hate their shapes

It is awesome, it looks great (IMO) and it plays great. I said I had played one in a guitar shop and now I want one.
But for me it could only be when I'm in a band, most of the time I'm playing sitting down.

I wish I had some pictures but they're on my mom's film slr.
Anyway, the stage was shite and it gave no room to place the PA speakers. Everyone had small line 6 amps and fender mustangs. I was the only one who showed up with a tube amp, and I didn't use the PA system. My drummer used it and my bassist did. Using either a small amp + PA system or a tube amp by itself works the best for soloing.
Can anyone link me to a good tutorial on learning how to read/play sheet music for the guitar? I'm still learning the chords, but I want to have some kind of goal to achieve, and being able to look up a song I know and find out how to play it would be great.
Maybe you should leave reading music till you get a little bit better
It's pretty frustrating, you should focus on skill atm
If not, go to http://www.musictheory.net/, they have what you need
holy shit I had no idea reading the notes was that simple
but what about sharps
[editline]8th January 2011[/editline]
oh there we go
ok cool I just learned to read music in less than 5 minutes
this furthers my theory that most musicians have an inferiority complex
5 minutes?
That's impressive

Alrighty, danke.
Also, was just wondering from some of the song chords I looked up, some have the lyrics with the chords just over the lyrics. When it's like this, do you just strum on those words, or what?
(this is probably a really stupid question, sorry)
Not really a stupid question
I'm fairly sure you do, so if it's like
I sing this song la la la I still sing
Em A
Then you'd play E minor and strum it according to the strumming pattern, and then when you get to the other part you swap to A
You strum until it changes
[editline]8th January 2011[/editline]
Fuck it won't let me have the A further up

Thanks again, was a little confused there. I still need to get around to learning how to play A and B chords though, I have a lot of trouble with 3 fingers on the same fret.
B is a bitch
A it's pretty easy, you'll get it
Just don't give up, it'll be shitty for a while but when you realise you're getting better it'll be worth it
yeah
as cliche as it sounds "keep practicing you'll get it eventually" is completely true
