bass amps work fine for guitars guitar amps for basses though, not so much
If you have no choice and play at really, really low volume, it will be okay. Still not a good idea, but it won't end in tragedy. If you play at anything even resembling gig volume, you won't have an amp for much more than one line of music.
Hi people! I've been toying with the idea to learn how to play guitar for a year now. And I haven't really looked into what I need, and I really don't know what brands are good and what a decent entry level guitar is (Acoustic). Can I get like a list or something?
I got an Ibanez jumpstart pack with an Ibanez GiO GRX40 in it. For the ridiculously low price it's super awesome. It's really sturdy and well made physically (Yes, I had a lot of expensive guitars in my hands - my uncle who lives in other city plays them for about 30 years) I shall record some examples for you in a minute. I'm not saying that my choice is better or worse than other suggestions by above users, it's just my personal thought.
maybe this is a silly question, but does a bass guitar cable work with a normal guitar aswell? I wanna be completely sure if i need another cable for the guitar, or if i can use my bass cable...
There's no such a thing as a silly question in the music forums. I would think it would be no problem to use a "bass" guitar cable for your guitar. Although it makes a big difference on how good the quality of your cable is. Ask Tezza, he's the bass mastermind around here.

For a practise amp you'd want a modelling amp, then when you're more experienced and tone anal, get better amps. A 15w Spider is amazing for practice. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] I prefer the yellow SpongeBob strat.
Got around opening up the guitar, as you can see i won't have to do a lot of wood cutting, just the gaps where the single coils used to be, so i can fit them with the new humbuckers. i won't be using any of the wiring htats in now, everything is going to be from scratch, i might use these for something else. the black wire sticking out of the body goes to the bridge trough the back. the new pickguard and the capacitator should be arriving tomorrow. the potentiometers wire and shielding tape should arrive the day after that i also drew out the wiring i'm going to be using, maby it's useful to any of you, or maby you see a fault i made. (never mind the gibberish in the bottom left corner, it's some notes to myself in dutch)
I got a guitar. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] But it makes no sound. :saddowns:
An instrument lead is an instrument lead is an instrument lead. Use it on an electric banjo if you want or connect a synth to a mixer with one. There have been cables manufactured and marketed as being "Better for bass" - It's all just marketing, A good quality cable will sound great for everything. Incoming all-inclusive post: In the Guitar/Bass world there's only two cable types you really need to be aware of. The "Instrument lead", A shielded thin guage cable designed to carry the low-level signal of an instrument and keeping it safe from interference - Usually terminated with a 1/4" Jack: The "Speaker lead", An unshielded thick guage cable designed to take the power an amplifier will chuck out - In the Instrument world these are usually terminated with a 1/4" Jack but the "Speakon" connector is becoming popular (As it should be, the jack connector was never intended for speaker connections): (Speakon) Never use an instrument lead to connect speakers to amplifiers though, they simply aren't designed to take the current. You don't want to use a speaker lead for an instrument, you will get loads of mains "Hum" as there's no shielding. On a semi-related note, When will more guitar amplifier makers switch to speakon. It's just better in so many ways.
-snap-
I looked at that speakon and almost thought it was an XLR connector lol
just finished sanding parts of the guitar to accomodate the humbuckers, i won't be painting it or anything because there will be a pickguard over it, of course.
What do you guys reckon about this sound quality? just been messing around with mic placement and stuff. this is just improv, except the beginning which is a fucked up number of the beast solo(my fingers were acheing)
Sliding a 5 cent coin over your frets with some chorus and delay give some trippy violin sounds.
Try to play a rendition of Swan Lake on guitar with a bow
Got an awesome Korn(ish) tone from my guitar!

nothing planned no. maby use it to make some really strange guitar.
I was wondering. What should I get as my next instrument, an electric guitar since I only have an acoustic guitar or a fretless 5 string bass? This is just a ''what if'' question.
Fretless 6 string bass.
Fretless 6 string bass.
Those are out of my price range here in europe. Though I would love one so if you guys can find one on the web for €500 or less. (Ideal budget would be under €300 but that seems impossible.)
I don't know much about guitars but I got this Soviet made "Stella" guitar Is it any good?
