as much as i hate steve vai's music he is an inspiration to us all
I always feel like steve vai makes fake faces when he plays music. Usually I squint and frown or shake my head. Lol that just made me think, when I perform, I never really open my eyes when playing solos.
I posted that like 2 pages ago, why did it get ignored? [editline]24th January 2011[/editline]
because no one cares and you shouldn't either it's being discussed now so what's the difference
I don't know anyone who doesn't make faces when they play
I never said that, it's just weird looking at him make faces. Plus, I can't stand his music, so that might be why.
I don't make faces when I play, maybe sometimes I move around a little when I'm improvising but I don't go over the top
I have this really awesome guitar I bought from Target a few years back... :smith:
I am sad, so very, very sad. Why? I plug in my headphones to the amp's output and unless I have Volume and Gain on 10, i get nothing, and with it at 10 & 10, I get a horrid feedback noise. I think my output is broken. :ohdear: Can't really complain, I got the amp for free. It's a Dean Markley K15x Also made a trip to the music store and picked up a Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-76 [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
I have this really awesome guitar I bought from Target a few years back... :smith:
Best Buy. :v:

I've fragged crappy cans silently before, and I know on my amp or mixer if I had the volume at full on anything shy of an expensive pair it'd be done for. If it was just something wrong with that jack, you could probably fix it yourself.
What effects are used to create such guitar sound at 1:57?
Ever since Timo Tolkki turned fat, he sits there with a blank expression when he shreds, or if the medication state is different and he's feeling good, he smiles with the crowd.

My uncle is a guitar player I'll see if he has any ideas next time I see him. And I've not plugged them Back in to avoid damage, and they sound fine on computer and iPod. So good news is I didn't destroy my new headphones cause they sound better than my earbuds, which weren't that bad, and they're more comfy on my head.
no, what you should do is check the jack, just take some screws out of the amp and look at the wires on the output jack and if they're still attached right. if so you're in luck, thats an easy fix by anyone who can solder.
does anyone else unconsciously move their jaw side to side in time with their picking? i noticed it when i looked in the mirror when i was playing once
I grind my teeth when I use a plectrum on bass. Everything else and I don't. Strange.
No, but when I pick my mouth is shut and my teeth are together, and when finger picking my mouth is open and my teeth aren't together.
i think "grinding my teeth" would be a better description of what i do its only when i pick, too. i noticed i don't do it when im tapping, fingerpicking, or playing HO/POs
I push my lips together real tight when I put on a serious groove.
This is me restraining myself. This is me not restraining myself. Wow I did a pretty job with that solo. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] I think I do a lot better job not making faces and stuff more recently because I worked on not doing it. I wish sound wasn't way off from the video.
I just noticed the new squier jazz basses, so now there are: [img_thumb]http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/75482_l.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.bassprice.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Jazz-Bass.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://static.music123.com/derivates/6/001/482/558/DV019_Jpg_Regular_519639.001_3-tone_sunburst.jpg[/img_thumb] Sweet
I really want the VM 70's
What effects are used to create such guitar sound at 1:57? thumbs up on that solo pepin [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
What effects are used to create such guitar sound at 1:57?
sounds like a chorus possibly a tremolo or delay though
new pickguard arrived! i can't wait to get soldering tomorrow when the potentiometers shielding tape wire and some other stuff arrives.
Install a killswitch, don't forget.
Really considering saving up for a Schecter Damien 6
Install a killswitch, don't forget.
thats a great idea, will do if i find a suitable button
What effects are used to create such guitar sound at 1:57?
Pretty sure it's just a Jazzmaster or Jaguar, a bit of reverb and maybe a little tremelo.
Sounds like lots of effects are used in different places. Overdrive, octave, heavy reverb, delay, etc.
I'm quite sure it is a short delay.
Posted this in bass thread, but no answer. Is this a good bass guitar? It's the cheapest from fender, but I've heard really versatile. I've played bass on my old squier for a few months and really getting good at it. http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0146200302 I was also looking at this. More expensive though. http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0131800300
Jazz basses are excellent, you really can't go wrong with one as an all-round bass. I've played a mex fender jazz and an american fender jazz and they both felt effortless to play with a lovely tone. As an added bonus, because they are such a popular model, spares and upgrades are easy to get hold of.
