The whole point of the alpha timeline is that it's the one where things aren't so utterly fucked that things can't progress. Whether or not this timeline is doomed depends on whether or not things can still progress.
why's some of the art so bad what the fuck
The best way to predict whether death within homestuck is permenant is to ask yourself a few questions:
1. Were the characters that died finished with their arc?
2. If they've been killed by someone else (and have no arc or might be finished with the current one) does this death serve as character development for someone else?
If the answer is yes to both then that character is usually fucked, but seeing how Dave, Jade, Kanaya, Jane, Karkat, and even Jake aren't done with their character arcs (or have some set up, such as Kanaya's want for reviving her race) then they're most likely fine. Seriously, like all the meteor kids died, he wouldn't just have them spinning their wheels for 3 years to have them end up as cannon fodder 30 minutes after landing.

gamzee's not dead. hussie has repeatedly driven home the point that gamzee is invincible. we had long, drawn-out sequences of gamzee getting shot repeatedly that people got angry over. he'll find a way to survive.

I don't know if I should feel bad for it, but I'm actually glad to see so many main characters go, and I hope they stay dead. I don't have much stomach for more of the same shit we saw over the past couple of years, and a drastic change of pace like this could do some good.
Also people get upset over this stuff and that amuses me and maybe I should feel bad about that too but whatever I guess. :v:

Says in the OP that spoilers are allowed in the thread.
I assume spoiler tagging them only applies for the first couple of posts after an update just so people who don't know about it don't get spoiled when they check the thread.
