Whether everyone stays dead or he saves them all, this is Hussie's reminder that John is slightly more important than everyone else.

I don't know if John will just magically save everyone, it doesn't seem like something that'd happen. But that ring is still a factor, so one person may get to come back.
I just can't imagine Homestuck with Dave, or Jade, or Karkat. Or Rose for that matter. But I'd hate for there to just be a cop-out uhp everyone's alive again yippee. Fuck, I want everyone not to be dead just as much as I want them to stay dead.
I keep thinking the Empress is going to form some sort of truce with the surviving kids for them to fix everything, since she can't have her new universe this way?
John needs to go back and change canon.

Well, we don't even really know what she wants. I guess presumably, she wants domain, but in the end her action are mostly defined by English himself, and we have no idea what he wants from her. Not to mention, through his power, she's able to rule over any civilization at any time period. She was even on Pre-Scratch Earth along with Post-Scratch, so who knows why she didn't just hang around and play with those. She's been planning something, and we're just gonna have to wait and see what it is. Thought she did seem pretty pissed at Aranea's intrusion, so maybe something's gone wrong now.
Whether or not people like the continuing meaninglessness of death as a result of this storyline, I am 99% sure John is going to change everything back to how it should be. I don't mind this use of retcon powers as long as it results in some amazing fucking art.

I thought it was common knowledge that the Condesce wants to off English with the help of the kids as well as rebuild troll society.
That dialogue was pretty bad.
The very cheesy sad dialogue convinces me that these deaths are transient

I don't think so, all we know is that she hates Lord English, not that she's actively planning to kill him and there's certainly no indication she wants the kids' help doing it. The only kid she wants help from is Roxy so that she can make a Matriorb, so yeah, she does definitely want to restore Troll society.

But it isn't the schtick of Homestuck? I'd stay the whole Schtick is that anything CAN be meaningless. Actual death isn't. Yeah, Vriska died and still managed to affect the main story, but really just in general, she didn't pop in and deck the Condesce in the shcnoz, everyone who is dead is powerless to do anything relevant to anything happening to anyone. Rose, Kanaya, Karkat, Jade, and Dave can do nothing against the Condesce or Jack/PM nor can they help get the whole situation under control. Not to mention that now everyone dead is subject to being honkblasted to permadeath by English.
If their deaths are irrelevant it's because John's gonna do some retcon shit. If he doesn't and this remains the alpha timeline, shit's gonna be pretty fucked. But I mean he probably will, I guess. Kind of hoping it doesn't feel so cop-out-y.

Yeah but it was Just that she died in the same way it was Just that Jade died, it's cause she died so that she wouldn't be a bad guy anymore. She was still, you know, doing bad shit, and she had no way of stopping herself, so her death prevented bad shit. Yeah, you do have a point. Especially considering at the time of death she was literally asleep, so she couldn't have been doing anything of her own volition. Still, it did prevent her from... being evil. I guess. You could say it was another Lucky Br8k, too.
