It's not really a matter of shippers being right here. He was drooling over her in the comic to the point of not being able to speak, he's been shown to love both blue and spider girls, and she's shown (a bit small bit of) interest in him but said that he had to die soon or else they couldn't give it a shot. It's explicitly stated in the comic.

we know that he likes aranea but her coming after him is what was just conjecture
but as jake is the only kid who isn't incredibly intelligent (and actually quite thick) she's probably just there to manipulate him
