^That is one sexy smell, dude.
Also, I just changed the strings on my acoustic and I gotta say, damn, I love that bright, chunky sound of new strings.
Xenocidebot if you don't want those pedals you can send them to meeeeeee :v:
[editline]Edit[/editline]
This is the first time I've used coated strings, they sound pretty good with some melodies. Now for chords...
[editline]Edit2[/editline]
Oh god what the fuck have I done to my poor baby :gonk:
Please tell me they just need to break in, please tell me they just need to break in... :ohdear:
I use a .059 for my low A string on my Apex2 because 7 strings aren't very common in Iceland :smith:
Yeah that's what the D'Addario 7 string packs come with.

I sold 'em already, I'll post if I get more.
sup guitar thread, haven't been in here in a while. Just posting to say that I just successfully sold my Jackson SL2H, the original one I bought ages ago, for £780 cash. Glad to finally get rid of that thing but also sad to see it go, the purchase guitar was a real event for me, in guitar playing and in life in general.
I must say I loved the smell of that guitar, smelt like a new car mixed with old furniture.
So what do you play now?
I just ordered a ESP LTD Deluxe H-1001fm in red. Schecter didn't ship to Canada on a bunch of different music stores, and Canada guitars are increased in priced by like $300, so I got this. I am more comfortable with ESP anyways.
[editline]11:38AM[/editline]
Also for strings, I usually use Elixir, if you feel like shelling out like $5 extra. They last a hell of a long time with good tone.
There isn't any Schecter/LTD-guitars available around here, and I wouldn't prefer to order it online.
http://4sound.com/ - This is where I play guitar (which gives me 10% discount, plus my dad knows the owner pretty well and could easily get me at least a 100$ discount).
1100 USD is like 8000 SEK.
My dad's bandmate sells Ibanez guitars and stuff so a discount would be easy achieved.
I've recently decided to try D'Addario strings instead of Ernie Ball strings, just to try them, I've only changed three strings so far but holy fuck they're incredible.

This sounds like a no-brainer then. You should try to get an Ibanez Prestige with that discount!

I have an identical one but with a fixed bridge :v:
I also got an Ibanez PGM 301, which I use for less heavy stuff because of it's beautiful PAF Pro pickups.

Cool.
Can anyone tell me how EMGs sound when coilsplit?

Just wondering

I'm just going to try several brands over the next few months see what suits me best, they're nice and cheap anyway.
Okay, just got my ESP LTD Deluxe H-1001fm, and holy shit it is awesome. It was tuned, new strings, clean, and had great action out of the box. Now I feel like I am cheating on my old EX :saddowns:
Not to mention it sounds incredible.
So I've had this guitar standing next to my desk and have zero knowledge on guitars or how to play. Could anyone refer a good video guid to me?

I've started playing with a loonie because I lost my picks. Hot damn it sound fucking good. Gives an electric guitar an acoustic sort of ring.

I'd reccomend finding a song you want to learn how to play, and look up a lesson on youtube. Then look up the pentatonic scale to get a basic grasp on how music works. Play with the scales for a while and you're start to be able to "hear" the correct notes before you play them.
I'm trying to figure out how to play Neon, just because everyone keeps saying it's impossible.
It's not impossible, but it's damn hard. Anyone have advice about it?

Run through this, this guy's a legend and he has a ton of free videos on his site. The beginners guide I linked to is great as well, it's how I started out.

...What is it and who is it by? I know I've never heard of it before.

John Mayer.

I'm sure it's not impossible, I've played harder songs. But damn, that right hand motion is just weird.
Slap and pop. It's typically a bass technique, but it's doable on guitar just harder because of the string spacing
Yeah, I know. I used to be able to do it, once upon a time. Haven't played guitar in over eight months.
Yeah, I know. I used to be able to do it, once upon a time. Haven't played guitar in over eight months.
Probably because you sleep paralysed yourself for 8 months.
I would die if I would stop playing guitar for a week!
Nah, man. College. Takes a LOT of time.
I still have 4 guitars in my tiny college dorm room V:v:V
Even if I only pick one up for 15 minutes a day, it keeps me sane.
Oh man! I think my guitar is on its last legs, it's going out of tune, even when I've changed the string, sounding different than it used to, and the neck is feeling wobbly.
well, I've been meaning to get a new one for some time, and I've had it for a while, so I sort of knew this was coming
I have three guitars in my moderately sized room
I try to play for 90 minutes a day v:v:v
I have 4 guitars and a bass in my room...
I practice too much really.
I have 2 e-guitars 2 acoustics and some expensive drumkit and soon I buy myself some awesome bass! Gotta love playing instruments!
Yeah, I know. I used to be able to do it, once upon a time. Haven't played guitar in over eight months.
oh man, didn't mean to come off as talking down to you or anything. I just kinda detected a bit of "what the hell's he doing there" from your post, my bad
[editline]06:17AM[/editline]
I have 2 basses and a guitar, though I only really play my fretted and my drumkit of late.
Need to get some money for a mandolin or something to liven up my guitar playing. maybe a cello bow or slide or something

Assuming it's bolt on, why don't you try tightening the large screws in the back of the guitar where the neck meets the body.
I would imagine it will fix both issues with the guitar.
never played a guitar, well got a acoustics and never learned to play it but this thread has made me want to buy a bass guitar and learn to play that, wondering if thats a sane thing to do ( for the fact i cant play and well yeah thats the only reason i can think of at the moment )

Bass is easy to learn but hard to master.
It is totally sane to do, it's fun (as long if you don't try to do hard stuff) just set reasonable goals and you'll be fine. If you set unreasonable goals for yourself you will easily get tired of the instrument.
Just my two cents.
And now off to learning Domination from Symphony X on bass.
