Cool but terrible design For both guitar and bass
:colbert:
I mean the les paul, sg, explorer and other stuff like that. Thunderbirds are freaking awesome.
Les Paul's cosmetics interfere with the functionality much more than an Explorer does.
Explorers are awkward to play LPs aren't for me at least
Explorers are awkward to play LPs aren't for me at least
I can't play my guitar without its explorer shape.
Explorers are perfectly easy to play, it just takes a little while to adjust to the balance. Nothing about the body of the guitar gets in the way of actually playing it, you just have to learn how to rest your arm on the horn to keep it from tipping down.
Am I the only one that can play everything without any hassle?
Am I the only one that can play everything without any hassle?
Your next project.
On a side note: I'd like to congratulate dclade78 "WERGWERGWEG" on becoming a gold member
Your next project.
I believe he meant every type of guitar. BUT I'd still love to see someone even ATTEMPT this.
uh thanks?
I believe he meant every type of guitar. BUT I'd still love to see someone even ATTEMPT this.
I don't think it really looks THAT hard... Sure it's fast but the rhythm part is fairly standard metal fare, chromatics, downpicking and powerchords. Same with the solo really, most of it is just sweeping, which is just a matter of nailing the technique. Not saying I could play it (I've never bothered to try learning to sweep pick) but there are much harder songs out there.

This just tends to be a favorite example. Also, if your idea of harder is Michael Angelo Batio, I discredit him. I just can't like him. All shred and no melody. I mean at least the solos from Necrophagist fit the mood of the song. Batio's entire career is built around mindless shredding with minimal melody, feel, or expression. My favorites among the faster guitarists of the world are the likes of John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen - all know that lightning speed is not ALWAYS a good thing (though Yngwie really likes to push this line as far as he can).
MAB is cawk. Overall shredders bore me. I really like Jason Becker, Petrucci and Satch though. Vai has never particularly interested me. My idea of harder was more based on stuff like Animals as Leaders, something which while it may belong to a genre, uses very few of the basic "tropes" of such a genre. You show a very skilled metal player Necrophagist chances are he can pick it up because it's an extension of his knowledge. Do the same for AAL and 9 times out of 10 he'll be left scratching his head

Necrophagist is just an extreme extension of the normal, whereas Animals As Leaders is...different, to say the least. Haven't heard much from them...him...whatever, but I can say it's god damn confusing. The 8-string might be to blame.

In effect all you're adding with the 8 string is 5 (7 in Tosin's case) lower notes which you can add to chords or play runs with. Meshuggah have already well established the traditional concept of 8 string playing in metal, which is pretty much just playing more metal but lower tuned (no dissing Meshuggah, but it's all just syncopation and polymeters) whereas Animals As Leaders take more from for example jazz, with very odd chords and voicings and unusual style and techniques, distancing it from traditional metal playing by a great distance
Your next project.
I mean comfort wise... However, I could probably play the rhythm of this :v: Most of it* Some of it**
On impulse is the shit
OH FUCK YES, my favorite track from the album
Tosin Abasi is a genius

I recently picked up a Dean Edge Q4 bass guitar. Me and a few friends have been practising together, although I keep fucking up my timing. When I'm on my own I can play fine to songs but when I'm playing with other people I seem to lose all my ability to keep rhythm. Should I just play to a metronome or should I be trying a different method?

Any tips playing this?
I mean the les paul, sg, explorer and other stuff like that. Thunderbirds are freaking awesome.
I don't get it, all the ones I played are uncomfortable. Anyone else agree?
Like I said, they look cool, but they are a truly terrible design
I find my SG slipping from my leg alot when I sit down, but the thing plays like a god when Im standing up
