Sure, you will learn as I have.
Guys help! Since I changed the strings on my Epi LP (~half a year ago) the high E and B have had a sort of metallic buzz when I pick them. This only happens when I pick them open. You´d think it´s just fome fret buzz, but I´m absolutely sure the strings aren´t hitting any frets. The closest the strings get to a fret is at the first fret (obviously) and there´s roughly a millimeter space. There´s no way the strings are hitting any frets. Even when I pick them really, really faintly, so that the strings barely even vibrate, there´s still that buzz. It´s getting really annoying.
What could be causing this? I´d appreciate any help.

Something with the nut, maybe?
It's gotta be something above the first fret if it only sounds when the string is plucked open

Whoa, how is that even possible? Pentapost? Anyway, I can´t think of any way the nut could be causing it.
Are Schecter C-1 Hellraisers (no FR) widely sold nowadays? I'm thinking about getting one but the cheapest, as well as the only place I've seen it here in Sydney is for AUD$1400 at a chain music store. On Ebay, I've only seen 2 listings, by 2 separate sellers from the US for around AUD$900 inc shipping. Are they discontinued or something?
i have a MIM telecaster, is that shitty?
answer: yeah i know it is, but i still love it. the tele, regardless of where its made, has an awesome sound.
Not shitty at all.
alright, yeah, im overexaggerating. its just that in the pantheon of fender guitars, MIMs are the worst. id rather an MIA but theyre expensive. whatevs!
Can someone find me a decent guitar, 100 bucks or so?

impossible

Did you just say MIM's are the worst?
wow
just no...
aside from squiers, of course!
also thats just what somebody told me, plus theyre the cheapest, and less $ = less quality, right??? (right??)

Dude I'll take your MIM Fender if you think it sucks. I borrowed my mates MIM Strat for a few weeks and my god it was seriously one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. I preferred it to a Japanese made Strat I played as well.
So stop complaining, when I get my single coil freak on I have to make do with an Indonesian Squier.
Well that guy fucking told you wrong, I prefer it over any guitar i've played, and all my friends who tried it out absolutely love it.
It is almost as good as an american strat.
aside from squiers, of course!
I don't even know that Squiers are that bad, really. I could see somebody saying that about some modern Epiphones, but Squiers are normally pretty solid unless you're buying the absolute cheapest of their offerings.
It is almost as good as an american strat.
This is probably why a lot of people assume mexican made models are junk, though. I mean, let's be honest, the modern perception of Mexico is very derpy, which, combined with seeing few products manufactured there, probably makes the average joe think a Mexican-made anything is garbage. Knowing better is a rare situation, even among musicians.
huh! i never knew.
and yeah, ive never had any sorts of real problems with this guitar, just some buzz on the upper frets and i think the necks a little warped but whatevs.

My starter EPI LP does that too, never really figured out the problem... haven't switched strings on it in ages.
Maybe the fact that the headstock says Epiphone, your problem easily fixed by buying a new guitar.

I do hope you're kidding. Aside from the "Special" series of everything, Epiphone actually makes pretty good guitars for the price.

Hey fuck you man I like my Epi :(
Maybe I'm being biased, but they release a LOT of terrible guitars. One of their Explorers was so cheap that I can't even recall the shape. It was definately not a Futura, is was just a cheap retarded Explorer. Casinos and emporers and the like are good guitars, dont get me wrong, but their Les Pauls are just poor imitations
I don't know, I don't own one
I know heaps of people that play their LPs and don't complain about them
At least you're not jumping on the Dean bandwagon though, but unlike everyone else I just hate the shape not how they play
I havent actually played a Dean before, so I couldn't comment about them. Every brand has some big fuck ups, you get for what you pay for and ifyou pay shitloads you automatically expect the best guitar ever and then you believe that you got ripped off, and if you buy the cheapest guitar ever, you'll remember that when you play it and when it falls apart. Problems of mine are that my Jacksons have fucked up jacks, my ESP's licenced Floyd Roses are very problematic, and my Charvel so far has no Problems. Then again, I got that not very long ago.
I would really like a ESP or a Jackson
I just thought that a guitar that was great for classic rock/clean tones kind of stuff would be a nice start, so I got a Epiphone SG.
It's got great action, I really can't compare the sound to any other electrics as it's my first one but I really like it.
I'd just like something with a darker, kind of heavier tone. I mean I was gonna eventually turn this SG in a more heavier orientated guitar eg EMGs, heavier strings, ect but I just decided not to ruin it.
I'm just going to leave it the way it is, maybe upgrade the hardware for better stuff like through a couple new buckers in to change the sound but otherwise, I like it.
I would REALLY like a double cutaway guitar, with some seymour duncan blackouts and a fairly heavy guage of strings (I haven't experiemented with different guages yet)
I love chugging though :3
Some guitars just don't fit it. Consider the wood, if your guitar is some fancy sort of Ash (just an example) then I wouldn't try to give it EMGs and play metal with it.
For around $300, my JS1 is actually the most comfortable to play with, and it's disguised rather well as a typical metal guitar. Anyone oblivious to guitars wouldn't pick me up on playing that live instead of my DK2.
Another thing is the awkwardness of having 2 Jacksons and 2 ESPs when they are really competitive. If I make it big, who am I supposed to sponsor?
It's mahogany, I dunno how that's supposed to work
I payed $500 for my guitar, got a free case with it.
I tend to splash out, I mean I was serious about playing and I didn't want to start with a shit guitar.
If you make it big, go ESP. They're just cooler guitars imo

Schecter C-7/C-8. Played a C-7 Blackjack just the other day. It was VERY nice.
