He's not. He's saying that in his opinion the Omen is better quality than other guitars in that price range.
Generally though, better quality guitars are more expensive so it's a fair assumption to make that an expensive guitar will be high quality.
I always found it odd to think that way,
because more often than not you're just buying the brand.
I tend to focus more on the wood/pickup combination than anything else.
Edit:
I guess what I'm trying to say is I judge by details not price.
I don't judge by price, but generally more expensive guitars are built to a higher standard.
You can buy $1000 Fenders and $2000 Fenders, they're both the same brand so that is no longer a factor, but you can pretty much rest assured the $2000 Fender is going to be a nicer guitar.
I got my Bugera 6262 last monday. holy shit this is the best amp i have ever played, better than the peavey 6505 i played at guitar center. It took me till today to dial in a good tone and it rocks.
What I'm saying is that while guitars have minor problems in major parts, or major problems in minor parts, Epiphone just have lots of problems.
My guitar doesn't have any problems... Don't make stupid assumptions like that lol

Unrelated, I guess, but I really like having something with a 30" neck. Still sounds heavy, even with light strings.
I'll keep that in mind
I've got an Omen 6 with and EMG 81X/85X set, I love it to death. Plays better than any other $300 guitar on the market, and many that are more expensive. Can't wait to get my hands on a real C1.
Yeah I've played my friend's guitar, it's awesome
I'd like a Shecter one day
Just a question, why do you judge quality by price?
Go buy a $100 guitar and tell me it's good quality then
What I'm saying is that while guitars have minor problems in major parts, or major problems in minor parts, Epiphone just have lots of problems.
Epiphone have a considerably higher reputation in Europe, because they go through a different QC team before being sent to to us, and our team is pretty shit hot, whereas the American one tends to let a lot more slide (presumably because they have many more to send through)
All of this is a bit of a silly argument though, considering we are arguing cosmetic flaws overall. None of the Epiphones I've played have had an absolutely deal breaking flaw, or something to make them unplayable. A fair few Gibsons I've played have had dealbreakers. I played an SG where the frets cut my finger open, an Explorer where the neck joint was pretty fucked, and a Les Paul where the fretboard was cracking the wood was in such a poor condition. The only Gibson I've ever played which was flawless has been Custom Shop.
I would say considering that^ Epiphones (at least in Europe) ain't too fucking bad
I had the choice between a Dean and an Epiphone. It was a very hard choice, but I am happy I chose the Dean

Well that explains a lot because I live in Australia
Just a question, why do you judge quality by price?
Price is usually determined by the quality of materials and craftsmanship, and in most cases the better quality, the better the guitar.
I've played some cheap "Vintage" Stingray copies that have played pretty good, but then I have played some absolute crap examples of the same model.
I believe what you get with price is not just quality, It's consistency of quality.
fuck you reaver I am not dumb I wanted a Dean because of the players they have and have had
fuck you reaver I am not dumb I wanted a Dean because of the players they have and have had
Gotta love the ratings list.
werg
Price is usually determined by the quality of materials and craftsmanship, and in most cases the better quality, the better the guitar.
Well that does not work so well when we talk about guitars priced 500€+.
Btw it's funny how people think ´made in the USA´ automatically equals high quality, and a guitar made in the USA > Made in korea.

Hah talkin' about fender, more like you can assume that it is a model with an intentionally limited consignment rate.
My friend has a Schecter, an Omen 6 I'm pretty sure.
I haven't played a huge amount of them, but I've heard great things.
I think when I do eventually buy a new guitar I'll spend $700 plus on it
I really love the colour/appearance of the hellraiser
[img_thumb]http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5212/hellraiservy5.jpg[/img_thumb]
I mean come on, that's beautiful
I especially love the little shiny edge/line around the body, it's really nice
Get an ESP LTD Deluxe H-1001fm, I bought one rather than a C-1 Hellraiser, much nicer. ESP locking tuners are incredible, actually.

Or you can get the cheaper non Deluxe ones.
I finally settled upon this, it's being shipped from the US so I expect it in a couple of weeks :D
Looks like for my doom band im going to be using a bass guitar while my friend uses his 8 string guitar. Anyone able to recommend a good bass to start off with? I dont know if I should start with a 4 string or 5 string
I would start with a 4, unless you like using the B string, then I would go with a five.
I would start with a 4, unless you like using the B string, then I would go with a five.
He was saying I should start with a five so I can play metal
Don't be a genrefag. You can play anything with the 5th string. 7 string guitars and 5 string basses were actually first for jazz or blues, don't remember which.
I knew I wont be buying any more 6 string guitars after I got my C-7. I'd choose a 5 or 6 string bass. Even if its just one string, it widens your soundscape and possibilities a lot.
It's not like you can't play metal on a 4.
I would start with a 5 string, it isn't any harder to learn. It's just the Already-Expensive bass strings are even more expensive.
I've played nothing but 4 strings primarily, I have just never needed anything past a low D. You can string a 4 string for BEAD anyway.
Looks like 5 string is the way to go, what would you guys recommend for around $300-$400

More like.. classical. :3:
I remember messing with this 5 string:

Never played it but it looks nice:

I would say a Yamaha RBX 375. - I used to own the 4 string version (RBX 374) and the build quality is better than the price suggests. I only sold mine because it wasn't the sound I was going for (I am into Funk and Alt. Rock. The sound was just lacking the "raspyness" I was going for).
It has an onboard 2 Band EQ + Pickup blend and the pickups have a cup for your thumb if you anchor your thumb.

They are available in many different colours - That site only has three, but I have seen them in the wild in a creamy yellow.
Guys guys guys, we know better than this.
(My friend, not me)

6 string bass is the way to go.
Depends how you string it though, String it BEADGC and you may as well have a 5 string, How often are you going to use the high C? - Not much unless you do that tappy stuff I reckon.
String it F# B E A D G and you probably have a reason - You are getting into trouser flapping territory, though. (23hz)
People have their reasons, but you'll just pay more for something you may seldom use. I've played a Peavey grind NTB6 and I just didn't "get" it, was heavy as sin and the neck was just too wide.

We rate you dumb because you're so predictable and easy to troll whenever a Dean is concerned
I rated you dumb now for the lulz, not because I actually care
