Yeah, people disagree with a gibson v But a Bc Rich V is better somehow yeah fuck you
Yeah, people disagree with a gibson v But a Bc Rich V is better somehow yeah fuck you
Both guitars look like a kid with ADD got hold of some crayolas in a room with no one watching. People expect that from BC Rich, not Gibson Page king
Yeah, people disagree with a gibson v But a Bc Rich V is better somehow yeah fuck you
Yeah, I wondered what that myself.
why, cause I have one? nice reasoning
:smug:
Ok, I was thinking as a budget halfstack, I would get a B-52 LS-412 400W (4x12) and an Ibanez TBX150H Tone Blaster Xtreme Guitar Amp Head. For metal, rock, and once in a while jazzy/blues stuff. But mostly rock and metal. I have a TL-2 pedal. It comes up to ~$500 before duty (Canada D:) and shipping. What do you guys think? Is it good price/quality? A lot of the reviews say that this combo is great, and both products are greatly priced for their quality. I was planning on buying some new pickups for my Squier jbass, but if the Fender only costs yea much it might be cheaper to just sell the one and buy the other...
Yeah, people disagree with a gibson v But a Bc Rich V is better somehow yeah fuck you
The BC Rich is half the price with in my opinion superior pickups for the genre they are both obviously aimed at. Thats not to say that the Tribal V isn't sexy though, it's just not $2300 production model sexy(although the price of them has dropped hugely if you can find them new because they don't sell well). I would rather have a Squier with Seymour Duncan Basslines than a MIM (or in some cases even MIA) Fender any day.
That's like "upgrading" from violin to banjo. :v: Seriously, stop comparing classical guitars and western guitars.
oh yeah I know but in terms of VALUE then :)
Really dont like epiphone or gibson shapes. Good guitars, but I dont really like them. You can get a higher quality 1x12 or 2x12 for the same price and that is more than enough power for most venues. Or you can do what I do and get a high quality preamp and an effects board and plug directly into the venues PA.

Worse, too, I'll admit it actually sounds really good for what it is, I just really don't like the pups. But if I'm getting something decent and an overall better instrument for what I would have spent on pickups, I'd probably go with the former.

If you prefer the feel of the Fender or you don't want to play something with a Squier logo on it live then definitely go for the Fender. Just don't assume that the Fender is "overall better".
Well they are $1,200 new from what i've seen.
That's because they never sell. Most guitar stores were selling them for ~$2300 when they first came out and they never sold, so the price just got lowered so they could move product. [editline]17th October 2010[/editline]
What 2x12 would you recommend?
Personally I like Vaders and Orange cabinets but they are fairly pricey. I would suggest taking some of you own gear into a guitar store and trying out what's there with some of your own gear(so as to give yourself a baseline for your sound). If I gave a fuck about brands my favorite guitar wouldn't be an Agile. I'm not saying you're a punk for liking the Squier you've got, I'm saying that Fender would be better than the one I've got.
I have, but the music stores I live by have pretty limited stuff, and mostly very expensive stuff. Like some of those super expensive Mesas and Marshalls.
Is this your Epiphone?
Indeed it is [editline]18th October 2010[/editline]
Personally, I have to disagree. A while back I was planning on buying an Epiphone explorer after messing around with a former bandmate's and narrowed it down to two choices. Either: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-1958-Explorer-Electric-Guitar-101464113-i1150040.gc or This: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Goth-1958-Explorer-Hardtail-Electric-Guitar-101763753-i1149244.gc While I did originally intend on buying the first, I eventually decided to save 100$, buy the second, and put it towards putting in better pickups if I felt it necessary. When it arrived I was extremely pleased with it and though I still intend on replacing the pickups, I'm pretty happy with my choice.
Dude it's practically the same guitar [editline]18th October 2010[/editline]
Could be a loose wire. I've had that problem before. Took me almost 3 years for it to come up, but I have had that problem before. If it doesn't happen again call it a glitch, if it does, my first guess would be the amp. Getting a setup for your guitar is never a bad thing though
Yeah I'm going to tell them anyway I bet it doesn't help that my guitar's jack is loose Doesn't matter, they'll fix it and if I get it back and it's still loose, or the sound cuts out I'm going to complain like a bitch They didn't fix it last time I got a service, when I told them SPECIFICALLY to fix the jack [editline]18th October 2010[/editline]
Yeah, people disagree with a gibson v But a Bc Rich V is better somehow yeah fuck you
I don't like the look of either :S But I [hate the BC Rich headstock it's disgusting [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] I've also decided that I'm not shit at guitar anymore This is big step for my self confidence
Don't forget that most of the Fenders nowadays are lesser quality than Squier is producing now.
[editline]18th October 2010[/editline] I've also decided that I'm not shit at guitar anymore This is big step for my self confidence
What changed your mind?
I can improvise like tenfold better than I could a month ago I'm understanding music theory better and better everyday I'm not embarrased to play in front of people anymore, and I make some pretty cool stuff up (imo) at times when I'm improvising and I suprise myself sometimes. Every single week I’ve been getting better and better, after every single lesson I’ve picked up a new skill, or a new piece of knowledge to help me as a player. I bet I could nail the songs that I wanted to learn how to play when I first started playing guitar, I’m just too engrossed in what I’m doing now, which is improvising. Every week when my teacher asks me to do something new, he’s genuinely surprised how well I can do it, first try. This, in time has improved my confidence as a player, and every week the stuff I’m doing is getting more and more complicated and I’m still tackling it with ease and mastering it. Thanks for asking :) [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] He also says I'm his favourite student because I want to do theory, instead of learning how to play songs. He said he wish he had me last so that I could get an extra 10 minutes or so with him. He called me up when the guy before me was sick, and told me to come early for an extra 15 minutes free of charge. He's a great dude

It was a while before I started improvising well. How long have you been playing?
Probably about a year, maybe a year and a couple months I don’t know exactly but it’d be a little over a year because I started in the last half of last year sometime. [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] I like rhythm, but I also like lead I mean, everyone loves playing lead but nothing can compare to thrashing out some ballsy chords in my opinion.

That is what I think as well. I looked more, and I can't really find any 2x12's or 1x12 I am interested in. I already have a decent MG250dfx, and small fender practice amp. I have access to an MG Solid state stack, but I don't really like it too much anyways. I think I might get that Ibanez and b-52 since I can't really splurge a whole lot of cash on anything, and don't plan on doing so for a while for a while. I dunno, I'll see.
Alright let me try and talk some sense while I'm not tired as fuck or high or in a shitposting state. When I owned an epiphone, i didnt know the whole thing that when you tune down you should tune below, then tune up to keep the string tight - therefore my Epi would always go out of tune. Not to mention that was the LP Special 2 which is the cheapest guitar you can get here that isnt a Squier. Also, the 19th fret fell out. Wish I had pics. I recently visited the music store to play some guitars, and was fucking around with Epiphones. The Casino was motherfucking classy, and despite being into metal, I could see that it was a great guitar, it felt and played good, but it's not my type. I then tried the Les Pauls. They had the grit and feel of a Gibson, maybe not perfect but for the price it was pretty good. I tried the Goth Les Paul and I thought it was really cool and if I had the cash on me, I would have bought it right then and there. The SG models I tried, however I didn't enjoy at all, but I don't like SGs to begin with. I also saw a Epiphone explorer that was so terribly cheaply done in the shape and everything i couldnt grab it let alone walk 2 meters up to it without pissing myself. I'm still looking for the Gothic Explorer, but here that is ~$1000 while the LP studio is about ~$600 so if I get money out I might buy the LP. Really though, If you like Epiphones, go ahead. I like Jacksons even though their wiring sucks.
Oh fuck me! Musician's Friend won't ship all the cabs/heads I have been looking at. FUUUUUUUUUU... Guess I will have to try my luck with the stuff local, or maybe axemusic as some...

I LOVE playing really hard hitting rhythms and chords. I'm like the Marten Hagström of my band. All we need now is another guitarist :smith:

Woops hahahaha, will fix it man, also yeah. Rhythm bros! Those are personally my two favourite songs to play when it comes to rhythm.
Dude it's practically the same guitar
Yea I know, that's kind of the point I was going for, I'm just terrible at correctly explaining what I am thinking. What I'm saying is that, in this case, the Gothic explorer was practically the same guitar just cheaper (And the obvious cosmetic differences), contrary to what (I think) you said (May have misread it).

So I've had this here telecaster for a couple years now. It's been my one and only workhorse guitar serving me well at plenty of jam sessions and shows in the past. That being said, it's definitely got signs of wear and tear. I just set it up with a fret level and new strings. Here are the specs for those who are interested: -Warmoth Custom Swamp ash body, with flamed maple top. -Switchcraft input. -Callaham Dual Ply Bridge Plate with classic brass T-style saddles. -Callaham Neck Plate. -Kinman Broadcasters in the neck and bridge. -Schaller locking tuning machines. -American Standard Telecaster Neck.
