the only music store here (offshore island with a moderate population with few musicians) has like, one crybaby, but it's new and at least £100
I thought rule of thumb was to not settle for bad equipment and just save up for what you want.
Yeah I agree on that one. If you buy shit equipment for cheap it's just a waste of money. You'll end up upgrading to something better anyways, so just have a little patience and get what you really want.
so my strings are shredding my fingers to bits. I was thinking of getting Steve Harris signature flatwounds, anyone got any other suggestions?
I read and some people think they are very hard on your fingers.

Just keep playing, those Harris flats aren't that good.
Might get Slinkies again then.

I won't get Super Slinkies this time though, might go for regular ones.

I like slinkies
I dislike Ernie ball bass strings. I am lucky if I get 2 gigs out of them before they go dead. - Used to swear by them but I am a complete elixir convert now. Get 10s of gigs per set. Providing you don't snap one :v:
I just bought a pack of Ernie Balls because the music shop was out of D'Addarios and I hadn't tried them. Not impressed, will be going straight back to D'Addarios.
I'm using Rotosound myself.
They work like a charm.

I'm a hardline D'Addario'er. Ernie Balls dont impress me.
Also I have around 3 Jazz IIIs but I dont particularly like them. I like the shape, but they're too thick for me.
I'm using my D'addario nickel coated strings. It's surely made a difference in feel and tone (and ofcourse, sustain).

I just use what the guy in the store hands me when I ask for strings
Mostly Ernie Ball

Same here, Jazz IIIs are just a tad too thick but I just deal with it cos I love the shape :v:
I still swear by DR medium-heavy .10s and Clayton 1.26mm picks.

They come in many thicknesses you know.
Can anyone recommend me beginner tabs?
Can anyone recommend me beginner tabs?
What?
I wouldn't mind trying D'Addario strings. What ones are recommended for bass?
Can anyone recommend me beginner tabs?
What sort of music are you into?
What?
He's asking for some simple songs to attempt to learn.
I have Dean Markley strings. :colbert:
any advice to play punk?

This shit sounds so cool with guitar.
I have Dean Markley strings. :colbert:
I have no idea what came with my Dean. All I know is that they are rough as hell on my fretting fingers.

Just because it says Dean in the name doesn't mean they are Dean strings.
Dunlop Zakk Wylde 10-60 for my Epi LP, and Ernie Ball 11-48 for my other. I use dunlop 9's on my ibanez because the action is too low, I hate 9's way too small. need to get that fixed. and for picks : Dunlop Delrin 500 Standart 2.0mm, Dunlop tortex standart 1.14 for heavy stuff (both of em) and dunlop nylon .88 for softer stuff
I was trying to use D'addarios on my Interceptor but I think I got a bad batch. One of the strings was a little fucked up on one end when I got it, and it and another one snapped putting 'em on. So I just put a spare pack of Ernie Balls on 1-6, and they're working alright for me. D'addario 55 on 7.
I'm happy with EBs on my bass, too, though when I'm done with the sets I've got I'll probably try something else. Same for the guitar, I'm going to give DRs and some GHS Boomers a shot when these EBs go bad, maybe a set of EXPs too.

The harmonizer sounds sick. I'm trying to think of a way I can do that in my DAW, I'm not sure Guitar Rig has anything like that.
When you're playing a gig, you have GOT to go all out and put these badboys on:

These guys know how to make god damn guitar strings. It's like playing on an amazing awesome of awesomeness.
They cost so much though :smith:
The .12-.52 models are my favourites.
