I really want a new guitar but there is nothing wrong with the one I have now I just want one for the sake of having another guitar
I've had that feeling for about a year now. Although it also may be because I need one so I can play songs with different tunings at gigs. I'm looking to get a 25th anniversary PRS SE custom, I love my current SE, but it has no bird inlays, unlike this.
I use to HATE telecaster bodies when I started playing guitar. Now I love them.
I use to HATE telecaster bodies when I started playing guitar. Now I love them.
yeah me too and i don't know why.
I like Jacksons, Mustaines, King Vs and cheap stuff, so I plan on getting a JS30KV [editline]27th October 2010[/editline] Also, never use more than half the distortion in your pedal. They're tone boosters, using it all will screw with your tone.
JS Jacksons aren't great. If I were to get any of them ti would be the Dinky, the V shapes have retarded jack socket locations. Also what the fuck does that even mean? Of course using a distortion pedal with the gain up will screw with your tone, it's DISTORTING it.
I like olympic white and sonic blue, black is boring on guitars. :colbert:
Ok on the topic of pedals. I posted this on ultimate-guitar forums, but there are just a bunch of idiots there. MXR Have a 6 and 10 band EQ Pedal. I want to know if it's worth the money to put out for the 10 band EQ and have those extra frequencies to modify with. Do you think the 6 should suffice or would the 10 band be a better option. I want to sculpt my sound, but to put out a lot more money for 4 extra frequencies seems a bit pricey.
Boston - Can'tcha Say You Believe In Me, from "Third Stage" has like the best guitar solo ever
8:27 and onwards. Infact the entire build up before that is amazing, when the solo actually hits I HAVE to stop whatever I'm doing, every time, never gets old.
I just found out that it's fun to play Rage Against The Machine solo's.
black is boring on guitars. :colbert:
I always wish mine were black, I find the red flamed whatever on my interceptor gaudy as hell and hated the white on my old Peavey.
Black on guitars is pretty boring imo I will admit that transparent black is sexy, though
I have the same gradient as that except the inner colour is red, with less texture.

I can't get enough of the paintjob
I find the single knob offputting. With 2 humbuckers I'd want volume for each and a tone knob D:
Anyone know some good songs for learning slide guitar (electric only)?
Anyone know some good songs for learning slide guitar (electric only)?
Queen has a song (Can't remember which, Tie Your Mother Down? I think it was.) with a slide solo. It was pretty awesome.
Anyone know some good songs for learning slide guitar (electric only)?
Freebird, 1st Part.
Freebird, 1st Part.
I figured someone would've said that. Any others? Anything more bluesy?
Peavey Valve King Half-Stack http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-ValveKing-HalfStack?sku=485058 Good purchase or no? For Metallica and Megadeth style.
Anyone know some good songs for learning slide guitar (electric only)?
Rocket Queen by GnR has a cool slide solo, otherwise a lot of White Stripes stuff has slides. There's Led Zeppelin with In My Time Of Dying as well.
Half-Stack
Do you gig much? - If you do you are going to get tired of lumping a 4x12 around real quick. Consider a high efficiency 2x12 The average weekend warrior just doesn't need it. and even when you get past that you usually have PA support to help a smaller rig along... I am so glad I went 2x10 with my bass rig rather than 4x10. All my gigs have fell into one of these categories: 1) Small enough that 150W into a 2x10 is enough 2) Big enough that the PA system has taken the strain 3) I have brought my PA and it can handle bass (Have gone ampless before :D) If you really want a 4x12 though, go for it, but keep in mind the logistics if it matters.

I would avoid it to be safe, unless you've already played and liked it.
Yeah, I wasn't really set on it either. I do medium sized gigs roughly once a month, and my MG250dfx (2x12 50 watt) doesn't sound too good at louder volumes so I have to borrow an amp from a friend. Tomorrow I am going to see if I can make sometime to go to a music store and try out some amps there. They don't have much variety for amps though...

What's your budget, and could you give us a website to a retailer in your area to search on?
1x12 or 2x12? Also kman what will you be using this amp for? In-home, or gigging/band practice?
I have the 6262 head with a basson 4x12. It's also really fucking loud.
I have the 6262 head with a basson 4x12. It's also really fucking loud.
Oh jesus I figured it was a combo but god damn that's got to be an interesting combo. How is it with lows/dropped tunings?
The MG series really is rather subpar. What's your budget, and could you give us a website to a retailer in your area to search on?
Okay. Max budget is about $1000. You can look on either axemusic.com (I would prefer this, mostly because it is Canadian based. Be warned though, the search engine isn't that good. It may take a couple tries to find stuff even though it seems they don't have it.) Or Musiciansfriend.com. I don't really care which brand, but I am looking for tube-amps. I guess size should be at least 2x12, though a good 4x12 would be good too. I already have an EQ pedal, and a TL-2 Distortion pedal. Genre is mostly Megadeth and Metallica, with some Judas Priest and Anthrax.

Any GOOD tube amp will have at least a decent clean tone, but a metal-oriented amp will have much better distortion and a lesser clean channel than, say, a Vox, which would have a SUPERB clean channel and a mediocre distortion channel at best.

If it has a super good clean tone, I do have a distortion pedal for a boost on the distorted side. Anything is better than my MG anyways haha. That said, clean tone isn't my main concern.
If you're willing to use the rhythm setting on your guitar the cleans on the 6505 are just fine, so long as you're not looking to play anything particularly pristine (like 50's rock or rockabilly), and the distortion on it is incredible. You more than likely wouldn't even need a pedal, unless you wanted to push it a LITTLE harder for a Pantera solo tone. Do keep in mind it is BY FAR not a modeling amp. If it has ANY extra features, they will be reverb, and reverb alone. You WILL need effects pedals for everything else. I would start with delay and wah and work from there. But if you already have a set of pedals you like then hey stick with that as long as it's not a multieffect. Honestly though for the price that 6505 combo basically has the market locked for metal players. It's reasonably affordable and puts out a hell of a tone. Unitl you get into the botique/high-end price range ($2K+), there really is not much that can beat the 6505. Hell, even the half stack of it is only $1,900. A half stack Mesa Triple Rec goes for almost $3,000 and that's reduced from what it used to be.
