If you're willing to use the rhythm setting on your guitar the cleans on the 6505 are just fine, so long as you're not looking to play anything particularly pristine (like 50's rock or rockabilly), and the distortion on it is incredible. You more than likely wouldn't even need a pedal, unless you wanted to push it a LITTLE harder for a Pantera solo tone.
Do keep in mind it is BY FAR not a modeling amp. If it has ANY extra features, they will be reverb, and reverb alone. You WILL need effects pedals for everything else. I would start with delay and wah and work from there. But if you already have a set of pedals you like then hey stick with that as long as it's not a multieffect.
Honestly though for the price that 6505 combo basically has the market locked for metal players. It's reasonably affordable and puts out a hell of a tone. Unitl you get into the botique/high-end price range ($2K+), there really is not much that can beat the 6505. Hell, even the half stack of it is only $1,900. A half stack Mesa Triple Rec goes for almost $3,000 and that's reduced from what it used to be.
Alright, I'll look into it. What's a good cheaper wah pedal?
Alright, I'll look into it. What's a good cheaper wah pedal?
I've heard some good things about either the basic crybaby or the Ibanez Weeping Demon.
Personally I LOVE my Dunlop 95Q Crybaby, but it is a little more money. Still under $100 though.
I need moar effects
I need moar effects
That tells nobody anything. What are you looking for, how many effects, and in what price range?

I usually play in D standard and it sounds fucking sick. I have a lower end guitar that's tuned to A# and it sounds decent despite the shitty quality of the guitar. I'v played the 6505 and I gotta say the 6262 is quite the contender. I also think it has better cleans than the 6505.
sometimes I wish the duplicator from gmod were real
that way I could dupe all my gear and mod all of it without worrying if I fuck it up :v:

Hm...I'll have to check some of the demos online tomorrow, I've got all day anyway.
Cleans aren't a huge pressing concern to me, but if its distortion tone is also at least as good then I guess you really can't go wrong.
My playing style varies from Pink Floyd/David Gilmour to Blind Guardian to Metallica/Megadeth to Nine Inch Nails to Nightwish to Dream Theater to Iron Maiden and all over/in-between.
I don't play much death metal though...mostly because I can't keep up with it.
Granted the last death-anything song I tried teaching myself was Beyond The Dark Sun and that ended in tragedy.
As for Kab2, I dunno maybe the Bugera would be more beneficial. I've never played one. Actually I've never played the 6505 combo either, but I have played the half stack and I have to say I was fucking FLOORED with its performance. But who knows maybe I'll like the Bugera more after I give 'em both a listen.

No I'm not asking for suggestions I'm just complaining

Oh ok. Well then in that case yeah I need more effects too. And a replacement footswitch, mine is falling apart.
I need them because I have four in total

I have one and a couple built into my amp.
All four are in my amp

...You win.
Now back to relevant discussions, anyone ever been to a music store that had a Mesa Triple Rectifier set up and ready to play?

I wish D:
Oh, and that Bugera 6262 looks very enticing, for that price too.

The Guitar Center closest to me used to have a Dual Rec set up and a Triple Rec DISPLAY that was never plugged in. Which disappointed me...if I'm getting a Rectifier I'm getting the god damn Triple Rec.
Also I'll get back to you on what L make of the demos of both amps tomorrow. It's 3 AM here and my headphones suck.

That is the head with an Avatar cab, not the combo. But the combo's head is the same as this. So I could get the 212 6262, then later, I could always just get a cab and hook it in.

8:27 and onwards. Infact the entire build up before that is amazing, when the solo actually hits I HAVE to stop whatever I'm doing, every time, never gets old.
While Yes are amazing, I counter with Under A Glass Moon!

Solo starts at around 4:30
And to show how hard it is and how amazing John Petrucci is,

Just had my weekly lesson
Walked through the door
"Hey man, how are you doing"
"Oh thank god it's you, now I don't have to teach another kid a guns 'n roses solo"
I love my teacher

My old guitar teacher used to always say that almost all of his students just moped about while playing, not me though. He always raved about how quickly I picked up on things.
My teacher has been saying the same thing
brofist
Me and my teacher make jokes because I hate picking up little kiddy songs.
"GOD DAMNIT THIS IS SO BORING"
"But this is UsEfUl ExPeRiEnCe FoR u"
"But I want to learn more about proper guitar wanking, not some silly kiddy chords"
"Ye, ur right, let's go learn how Stevie Wonder built the song Sir Duke up. QUICKLY WHAT SCALE IS THIS?!?!?!?! *Starts playing that awesome thing in Sir DukE"
"Uhhh UH uhhhU HHHuHUhuHUHhh Pentatonic?!"
"DIng ding ding"

I'd say we are all pretty fortunate to have passion for guitars, a lot of people nowadays just play guitar to say they play guitar and just don't ever give a crap. I guess that's sometimes how great guitarists start sometimes themselves.
I know that Dave Mustaine started on acoustic, then gave up, and that's the same thing I did, then went into the electric about the same age I did. I find that pretty funny :buddy:
I don't like BC Rich though :D
Apart from the crazy body shapes, what's wrong with BC Rich?
Apart from the crazy body shapes, what's wrong with BC Rich?
Unless you get one of their top models (supposedly), almost everything. The sustain, the tone, the shitty hardware...BC Rich's were meant to "look cool," and personally I think they even fail at that.
If you want a good "ZOMG METALL" guitar, look into ESP/LTD or Schecter. MUCH better for the price.
Actually I've loved every guitar from those brands that I've laid my hands on. Especially the Schecter's with EMG's.
Tbh it's only really the Bronze models and so on, once you get into the NJ models they're pretty good, if that's what you're into. Maybe a pickup change at the most
I was listening to some old Journey this morning.. and wow, Kansas just plain stole this riff for "Carry On Wayward Son"!

Felt like playing a seven string song for a change.
Easy as piss, but it's nice to play.

I just like the Eagle, the Kerry Kings and the V's. I don't like how the only colour the 7 string is in is purple D:
Im loving the hell out of my friends bass that he let me borrow. Ive learned two songs in the past day on it Ive been playing so much. So I cant borrow this forever, and was thinking of getting something like this for Christmas.

Any opinions on that? Also, does anyone know the difference betweed ESP and LTD? I know its small, but what is it?

Usually like double the price, slightly better hardware, made in USA or Japan I think. LTD's are Indonesia, and South Korea for the Deluxe's. I'm sure they use China and stuff for the really low quality stuff.
