So i have this standard SSS strat, and i wanted to change the bridge pickup to a humbucker. well said and done, the problem now is, that the humbucker produces a really low sound, can't hear it for shit, So my question is What fucking wire did i put wrong. OR what is wrong? The humbucker works. that i know
Maybe the humbucker is active (like you need a battery for it)?
It depends. You can do whatever you want on them. Like some weird Jazz stuff or something.
I hate my habits, If im bending on B or E minor I tend to take my thumb and place it under the guitar. I also tend to bend my thumb to the side, and it makes it awkward to play I ALSO throw my fingers away from the fretboard when they arent placed down, help me fix this shit
Maybe the humbucker is active (like you need a battery for it)?
Nope, not active

For another, you told us nothing about what you want. Just a budget. Also, I despise Fender amps. But that's a personal thing. I have not heard one that I like that does not require a distortion pedal for me. What do you play? Give us an example of the heaviest and lightest material you would NORMALLY play. We need a starting point to give you any true help at all.
Guys, october 31st is awesome, First minecraft gets a new update, my band members are sealed and done. We have a place to practice and record, and we migth have a gig upcoming! Holy shit..Im happy. So how is october 31st for you facepunch. also im getting a epiphone thunderbird bass for my birthday! I don't care what the guys said about it breaking(what?) you have to handle your instrument like a bawss not like a drunken lout.

The lightest I play mainly clean, almost acoustic stuff, when Im practicing acoustic songs, or just training. Thanks in advance.
I don't care what the guys said about it breaking(what?) you have to handle your instrument like a bawss not like a drunken lout.
Fuck everyone else, I really like thunderbird basses. I like the sound and the feel.

But to put things back into practical perspective if you're not worried about having a treble-heavy clean tone, the Peavey Vypyr series is great for in home use. If you plan on gigging, I would recommend the Peavey 6505 combo instead. Either amp should have beyond the level of distortion you will need, but the 6505 can even play melodic death metal WITHOUT a pedal.
I think I am gonna get the Bugera 6262 Combo. I wish I could try it though, it is kind of a scary decision.
Okay, I finally finished going through all the simulated gear in Guitar Rig 4. But there are a couple things I couldn't identify: -A red treble booster pedal (I know what it does, I'm trying to find a brand/model that fits that description) -What a "UK" 60s 1, 60s 2, and 80s cabinet are supposed to be (I know they're Marshall 4x12 slants and probably some arrangement of a 1960TV, 1960AX, and 1960AHW, but what goes where is beyond me) -What the hell "blue", "green", and "cream" mean in the context of a cabinet if not referring to color

I'd assume it's a kind of presence booster where you get more top end (lol, car reference). 2. Not a clue, maybe 60 1 means one 60 watt channel, 60 2 means two 60 watt channels, and 80 means one 80 watt channel. still striking guesses. 3. I have no idea, but my tubes in my mesa amp have the word blue in them, might be a reference? I just bought 13 gauge strings today, a step up from the 12s that I normally play on. I can tell already that my fingers are going to be dead this week. When I put them in, my bridge turned into a floyd. It was floating, so I had to detune them and put a block of wood in there, now I can't use my whammy bar... which sucks for the cover coming up tomorrow. so i might switch them back.
This Line 6 75 watt amp I have is great, considering its a modelling amp. But far out the tones are good despite the digital sound. The green light models sound fucking unco for the metal znd insane preset models. Roland are better, but Line 6 is decent enough if your not a tone freak.
Sorry if this is a common question but : What kind of high quality amp can I get for at max 200/250 pounds? Atm I have a little 40 pound amp thats often playing up and isnt great sound quality wise, I would like to get a better amp before I purchase my me-70 so that it won't sound like rubbish. However i'm pretty short on money and I don't want to be saving up for years in order to get a decent one. [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] I hear oranges are good and I've played one - how is this? http://www.dv247.com/guitars/orange-crush-pix-cr35dlx-guitar-amplifier-combo--64020
The Crush doesn't really get a lot of press overall. It's not one of the big hitters in starter amps compared to the Vox VT, Marshall MG, Line6 Spider or Roland Cube, but I've only ever tried the 1 watt (I think) battery-powered one, which was okay for what it was. For £250 I would be looking used or at low level Blackstar and Bugera, but particularly used stuff like a Fender valve amp such as the Hot Rod Deluxe (can normally be had about £350 and takes pedals incredibly)

Thanks for the recommendations i'll look into them.
[img_thumb]http://www.stompthatbox.com/i/mxr_bass_octave.jpg[/img_thumb] This shit sounds so cool with guitar.
Remember this? Just got it today. IT SOUNDS SO SEXY THROUGH A GUITAR YOU WOULD NOT IMAGINE. /caps
I'm having trouble singing and playing at the same time, does anyone have any advice on any kind of technique or training I could do so I can learn how to do this properly?
I'm having trouble singing and playing at the same time, does anyone have any advice on any kind of technique or training I could do so I can learn how to do this properly?
Learn the song first. Be able to play it without thinking about it. Then just start singing along. If not just play it slowly and sing at the same time and just increase the speed.
Learn the song first. Be able to play it without thinking about it. Then just start singing along. If not just play it slowly and sing at the same time and just increase the speed.
Yeah, if there are backup parts, start with those.
I'm having trouble singing and playing at the same time, does anyone have any advice on any kind of technique or training I could do so I can learn how to do this properly?
Also you should start with simple songs, where the guitar part is just chords strumming over a simple rhythm. I've been working on singing and playing at the same time, and I can say the hardest part is singing a different rhythmic pattern to what your right hand is strumming. It doesn't matter how complex the work that my left hand does is, what ultimately makes me screw up is the rhythm. Some songs I've found helpful in practising: Sunshine of Your Love - Just because it's a simple guitar part, the vocals don't do anything too weird, so it's a good place to start. Enter Sandman - The guitar part is relatively simple, but the rhythm has a few syncopations that make it a bit tricky. Not too tricky, so it's a good song to start amping up the difficulty. Shallow (Porcupine Tree) - This is a song that I've been working on, it's pretty tough as a beginner vocalist-guitarist combo. Some parts of the song are relatively straightforward but the main riff is really tough to nail while you're singing. I've found this is a good difficulty to work towards.

Who makes a red treble booster? 2) My bad, I forgot the "s" after the year, they're not values pertaining to the units but when they were popular. 3) Might be. Blue in a tube is a common thing, though, and I could see "cream" describing one type of orange glow, but green in a vacuum tube would be fucking strange. Anybody else?
I never realised quite how difficult singing and playing was until I tried it for lulz But I can't sing anyway so I'm not even going to bother trying
Hey, do you guys think I should pick up a cheap bass and amp just to goof around on, and maybe record stuff on, once I get a better amp for my guitar, which I will probably get from my parents on Christmas.
We can't tell you what you should buy If you want to do it, do it. I personally have extremely little interest in learning bass, but if you want to do it then why ask anyone else? It's like me asking you, "hey should I get a red towel or a blue one?"
Having a bass would be fun. It'd compliment my guitar playing
I've just got an American Standard HSS Fender Strat, and a Cort SFX-6R. Both great guitars, and the cort is one of the best acoustics I've ever played. Lol-worthy related story: When I first moved here for college, i met this dude who said he could play guitar, and had been since he was 10. so i told him that we should jam together one time. One day, we decided to bring our guitars to school, and he wanted me to teach him how to play I'm yours by Jason Mraz, so I told him to get his capo. He looked at me with a dumbfounded look on his face and said: "What's a capo?"
I use an odd mental trick when I play and sing. I play the guitar and everything, but don't really pay much attention to it, and I pretend like I'm singing to a backing track. If it's a song like Money, it's actually becomes really easy to sing and play.
