Shit, bridge pin on my acoustic snapped in half, now I can't get it out and the string is stuck. Any ideas?
Cut the strings off as far as you can, then reach in the soundhole and push the end out from the inside

Going to sell my Squier strat and Roland cube 15 to get some money for my Jaguar.

I think that one of those in 5 string will look awesome. It's just begging for an extra string.
But the V headstock isn't

If it had in line tuners like Mustaine's guitars, then yeah, I'd get a 5 string one

Is there a way to plug something like a recording cable into my amp's headphone output so I can record it on my PC?
Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my amp. I have about £300 to spend on something that will be used to play small to mid size venues. I play heavy/hard rock, blues and metal kind of stuff, does anyone have any suggestions?
I'd be running an epiphone SG 440 through it.

I've been looking at a "Marshall Class 5 Guitar Combo". Would that be loud enough do you think?

Wattage and cabinet size determines volume, not the model of the amp. That tells us nothing.
My suggestion to you is, if you can afford it, a Line 6 Spyder VALVE. Not a normal Spyder, the Valve models - the ones with the tube preamp made by Bugera. That, or a Bugera tube amp.
The Peavey Vypyr is a great modeling amp for bedroom practice but it just is not right for live settings.

The Spider Valve isn't really worth the money IMO. It just sounds like a Spider with a valve preamp, the distortion is still very digital, and without the footswitch its a terrible nuisance to change sounds with. And it takes pedals terribly.

If you can stretch your budget to about £400 then give the Blackstar HT20 a go. It's a significant step up from a starter amp rather than just buying another starter amp that's bigger to save some money

Also sensitivity of the speakers (I am sure most of you know this, but it is worth noting, people underestimate this but it really does make a massive difference)
To attain 85dB SPL at 30M with a speaker with 93dB@1W,1M sensitivity with 3dB of amplifier headroom requires 283 watts amplifier power
To attain 85dB SPL at 30M with a speaker with 96dB@1W,1M sensitivity with 3dB of amplifier headroom requires 143 watts amplifier power
To attain 85dB SPL at 30M with a speaker with 99dB@1W,1M sensitivity with 3dB of amplifier headroom requires only 71 watts amplifier power
Really is worth considering all specifications into your purchasing decision, volume wise watts mean squat without the other, relevant, variables. Even more freaky things happen when you add more speakers, but that is best left to someone with more detailed knowledge of speaker design to elaborate on.
I could probably stretch to about £400, would that open more of a choice of amps for me?
£400 is a pretty good place to aim. Lots of mid level amps like Laney VC30s, Fender Hot Rod Deluxes (if you have a dirt pedal), the Blackstar and others. My advice, know your budget down to a T, try amps within it and just over it. If any jump out, look for used on Gumtree etc

It was the first thing that came to mind because it was the first Line 6 I ever liked at all, and it's about at his price point. I wouldn't know how well it takes pedals, but it wasn't bad for a Line 6 on its own.
Either way, I would rather have a Bugera anyway.
Or actually if you can find one on the cheap, the Peavey 6505 combo.
Good point, a Bugera wouldn't be a bad idea.
I owned a Spider Valve for a while, it just wasn't user friendly at all. Massive volume jumps between channels, so I tried to use my distortion pedal, and with that it sounded like dick. Got short of it, lost £250 on it and it had never been out my house :smith:

What were you expecting from a dirty line 6 amp?
I just want to get my research sorted before I go out and get something. I've got about 2 weeks to save enough pay to get an amp.
What were you expecting from a dirty line 6 amp?
But it had glowy bits on it :saddowns:
Nah, for serious, once I get some steady income I'm gonna work towards a Powerball or a Series One
Good point, I want to try a Rockerverb :v:
You guys are doing it wrong. Orange is the way to go.

I've always liked the look of orange, they just seemed like the priciest option though.
What are peoples feelings on mid-range Vox amps?

Orange is worth the money hands down. In my opinion that is.
Vox amps are also worth the money. Nearly all of the ones I've played are really good.
I hear they are superb for clean tones but I've no idea about anything other than that. I should probably just go to my local music shop and try out a bunch.

That's always the best option. Also don't go for any specific amp brand. Try out all of the ones. I chose the Dual Terror over the Mesa/Boogie. Just go for it really.
Nah, for serious, once I get some steady income I'm gonna work towards a Powerball
It makes me sad that none of my modelers do any ENGL stuff beyond a cabinet. At least I have some decent Mesa/Boogie models, excluding a really fucked up "I can't get a tone out of this that doesn't sound like sputum" version of a modified dual rectifier.
You guys are doing it wrong. Orange is the way to go.
I actually know next to nothing about Orange stuff. I've got models of an OD120 and OR120 but haven't looked at either yet. They both looked really meh in the manuals and from the moment I spent dicking with one it sounded like something you can't emulate (and nothing I'd want to use if I could.) I don't know if it's the fact that I already have more clean models than I know what to do with on hand but something about it just didn't sound right to me, and Youtube QUALITY demos of the real deal aren't really helping me out any.
That's always the best option. Also don't go for any specific amp brand. Try out all of the ones. I chose the Dual Terror over the Mesa/Boogie. Just go for it really.
Really? What Mesa did you choose it over, and for what reason?
Really? What Mesa did you choose it over, and for what reason?
I chose it over the stilleto and dual rectifier. I really love playing metal, but mesa is incredibly tight. The low end on the Orange Dual Terror is much wider and the mid range really gets to you. The sound from it is so incredibly warm aswell. Price was also kept in mind. The sound of the orange is really sludgey for me and that's what my band plays. Sludge Metal. The cleans could use a proper 3 band EQ.
The portability of the Dual Terror is amazing aswell. I have an Orange PPC112 closed back cab and that's enough to carry around Everywhere I need to go. I don't need a massive head that would be way to loud for my bedroom and I may drop due to my clumsiness.
The EL84's really attracted me to the amp aswell. The tubes get incredibly hot and you can switch from 7, 15 and 30 watts so I can always get them hot even at bedroom levels. Over all the Orange Dual Terror had a lot more perks over a Mesa for my situation.
I would LOVE to own a Mesa/Boogie 5:50 combo though.
