They really are. Ayreon use it quite a bit, particularly on The Human Equation album.
o ye got my new electric+amp for my birthday yesterday
Can't play shit but it's fun to mess around with. Been VERY slowly learning past few months from my stepdad but now that I actually have a guitar I'm gonna start taking it more seriously.
I remember when I couldn't play shit and I just fucked around with my amp
Then I realised that I should just scratch out the lettering on gain knob and write "awesome" on it instead

I'm totally going to ask you to do a guest solo in one of songs one day.
I plan on rerecording/rearranging this song I wrote when I get some new equipment, I reckon your mandolin skills would sound awesome in it :v:

I have a friend who's been playing guitar for like, 3 months and he decided to go out and buy a 12 string Ibanez acoustic for $800 after learning 5 AC/DC songs.
We tease him, by telling him that his 12 string is an oversized mandolin v:v:v
for some reason my JTM30 has recently begun to scream hiss and make all kinds of terrifying noises
i ask FP's guitar amp whizzes for some info on this one. i haven't changed anything about my setup at all, yet just a couple of days ago i can't stand near the amp without it going EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRR and creating some of the most horrendous buzz imaginable
this would be fine if i was trying to burn people's ears off in a gig but it's not helpful when i'm trying to be soft at home.
I really need a way of recording my 12 string acoustic, right now I have to use amp modelling to make my 7 string Ibanez sound like an acoustic :v:
Although I only have 8 strings on my 12, just the doubled up high B and E.
6 strings are enough for me, I don't think I'd ever buy a 12 string.
Maybe a 7 string one day

Trust me, it's on my to-purchase list. But I have other priorities.
I plan on getting a 7 string set onto the M50 I have and not use the .9
Why? Just buy a heavier set of strings and save a few bucks

I think you're missing the point of a 12-stringer. :3:
Inform me then rad

A 7- and 8-stringed guitar's purpose is to extend the range beyond the regular 6-strings. A 12-stringed guitar's purpose is to add a chorus effect, keeping the same range.

And to sound fucking awesome
You are lucky as hell. All I've got is an SE, which is still an amazing guitar, but I would kill for a Custom or a McCarty.
[editline]14th November 2010[/editline]
Don't get a low-mid end Jackson. In fact, I'd go as far as saying don't get a Rhoads style Jackson. They have horrible trebley tones, and are just really much worse than several similarly priced guitars which play the same sort of stuff better, like ESPs.
Lucky for you mine is a CE22 then :v: somewhere between the old PRS Standards and the Customs, so no bird inlays for me :saddowns:
The RR24 is in the Pro Series, the highest series they make which aren't the American series for double the price. Unless you're mistaking it for the RR3 or the RX10D

They sound magical, don't they? :D
They sound magical, don't they? :D
I played a Breedlove 12 string a while back, back when I had been playing my acoustic a lot so my chops were a bit better on it. I'm not kidding when I say the number of moist panties in my area spiked dramatically while I was playing it. Damn I wish I had the money for that guitar
You play a 12 string just like a 6 but like.. You play 2 strings instead of just one isn't it? The second string is a little lower/higher though. My stepdad has a 12 string acoustic but every second string is off, so it's just a 6 string now :v:

Exactly! It's impossible to tune the strings to exactly the same pitch, so you will get a natural chorus effect = a richer sound.
I also know that Dave Mustaine's first guitar was a 12-stringed BC Rich on which he just removed half the strings.

You can see the additional tuning pegs behind the bridge.
Fuck I want a 12-string hollowbody

Well whaddaya know, I never noticed that.
Shame Chris Poland pawned it for drug money and Dave hasn't seen it since
Actually, it's a 10 string Bich (EADG).
On that subject, whats the deal with Max/Cavalera's 4 string guitars? I havent seen them, are they just normal without the B and high E! Or spaced out?

Googling found me this image

Seems kind of stupid though
Clearly he just doesn't need the first 2 strings? :v:
Four strings? Pshh.

Three strings is where it's at
