When I had a bass on my hands, I learned this song.
This was improv that was later written into a song.

Well yeah, he plays it well, at any rate. Still looks a bit silly, like he's a tiny man playing a really short scale guitar.
At least he's not using the three upper strings for three note basslines :P

12k ohms of puRE ROCK AND ROLL
took me three hours to install that, a very stressful procedure considering there was a slanted single-coil in there before.
I wish my strat would look like that...

what kind of tremolo do you have and what gauge strings?
i want a left handed tremolo setup, possibly a floyd or the off brand that works just as well, if not better. i can't remember the name...
do you think a floating one would support 13 gauge strings?
It's a Kahler trem

Anyone know any songs that are difficult(technical as fuck) to play on the bass? None of the music I listen too is difficult to play. - dont really care about the genre
Also, i plan on buying a Dean spire ($700-ish) - www.deanguitars.com/spire_series_basses.php
is this worth it or is there something else i should get? I mainly play metal.

You want something that's technical as fuck, but you can't get along without tabs? Come on man.
Ah well, I don't know if these are technical enough for you, but check them out:
Hibria - A Kingdom To Share (Hibria in general have alot of cool bass stuff in their songs)

Holy Dragons - Ragnarok (Solo at 1:52). This band also use alot of cool bass lines almost all the time. Very fun to play!

Angra - Carry On (This band is also highly technical, atleast parts of it)

Burning in Hell - Never Surrender (6-string, but worth checking out anyway)

I want a mid range Ibanez
are they versatile, can I use the RG series for anything except metal?

Dude how did you do the wiring for that humbucker? i've placed one in my cheap strat but i cant get the wiring nor the humbucker to work :(
I want a mid range Ibanez

Yes. I use my 7 string RG from everything from jazz to acoustic modelling with metal in between. Most Ibanezes come stock with pretty average pickups, upgrade those and you'll be good to go.
I'm selling my Squier.
Still, you have a perfectly good SG and a perfectly good dunnowhatthebrandiscalled acoustic guitar.
Why get another one?
Because guitarists like to have lots of guitars. I have 5 guitars, and I can see myself purchasing at least 3 or 4 more in the future before I sell any.
I currently have six, and plan on getting more. I don't see the issue here. None of my guitars sound the same, I like how they all sound and I want to keep them.
I should tell you guys about my guitar teacher his 43 guitars.
[editline]17th November 2010[/editline]
Also Gibson's new Firebird X

I have 3 basses, I only ever pick up one of them and would happily sell the other two.
I don't really feel any need to have more than one or two reliable instruments that sound good. Maybe I am just weird, every musician I know just continuously spends money on loads of cheap instruments rather than less, good, ones.
I can understand for convenience purposes and differentiating sounds but I don't "get" needing eight 6 string guitars that all have 3 single coils.
I have a 6 string HH trem, 6 string HH no trem, 7 string HH trem, 8 string H hardtail, acoustic and classical. Funnily enough none of them sound remotely similar
My 6s were £300 and £900, my 7 I got for £170 used, my 8 for £360 on eBay, my acoustic for £170 and my classical for £240.
Next guitar is a Blacktop Jazzmaster, HS and trem, after that a semi hollow P90-H and maybe a strat after that. And I'll be building my own by that point too.
I have:
4 string bass
Spanish-made classical guitar
Cheap classical guitar (my first guitar :buddy:)
12-string dreadnought acoustic (I want to convert this to a 7 string at some point)
Squier Fat Strat (HSS, blocked trem)
Ibanez RG (HH 7 string, with trem)
Oh wait that's six :v:
Anyway, I want:
PRS C22 (HH, hardtail)
US Fender Strat (SSS)
Musicman Stingray 5 string bass
An 8 string, probably an Agile
I think all these guitars offer something different, aside from the cheap classical which I won't sell for sentimental value.

Do it, and it's possible on the four string bass. I can almost play it.
Hey guys, can anyone transpose this highlighted part into something that starts on the 2nd fret? Would be really appreciated.

I'm not sure why you'd want that, it's in the most reasonable place to play it. If you're looking to translate the notes theres the standard notation at the top already.

Wow that tab makes no sense.
Here you go. I had to lower it an octave since you wanted it on the lower frets:
E :------|------------------5|---5------------|----------------|
B :----3-|6-5-------------6--|8----5----------|--------5-------|
G :--2---|----5-----7-5-7----|--------5---5---|7---------------|
D :------|------5-7----------|----------7-----|----------------|
A :------|-------------------|----------------|----------------|
E :------|-------------------|----------------|----------------|
How do I play this an octave higher?
Riff 4
|---------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|
|-------------------------2-------|
|---1-0-1---1-0-1---1-0-1---1-0-1-|
|-1-------4-------5---------------|
