yes, I am. what would you recommend otherwise?
Probably the Blackouts, if you're really set on actives. I dunno, it might just be a personal prejudice, I trust EMG more for guitar stuff and SD more for bass, and they'd be really comparable anyway.
Plus I think the output's higher.
Girls guitarists that play metal, I like this one:

That intro.
Guitar noob here, I've been practicing a lot more lately and last night after drop-tuning to D standard I noticed that my sustains were shortened in duration DRASTICALLY. I tuned back to E standard and the problem persists; the notes on every string just deaden after only a few seconds, when before they'd last quite a long time. I tried messing with the amp settings and nothing changed, so I'm guessing it's a problem with either my pickups or my strings. I haven't changed strings since I bought the guitar just over a year ago, so I'm thinking that could be the issue, but I've also read elsewhere that this could be an issue with the leveling of the strings with the pickups. For reference, I have EMG 81/85 actives and it's a Schecter Hellraiser Deluxe. Could someone help me out as to how to fix this problem that came out of seemingly nowhere?

How long have your strings been on the guitar? It might be time for new ones.

They're the strings that came with the guitar, except for the high e string. When I went for my first lesson my teacher wanted to see the durability/quality of my guitar and broke the string so he replaced it with one of his own spares; I don't even know if it's the right gauge for going along with the other 5 strings, but all of that happened well over a year ago.

Or better yet, 1 at a time. :)
When I bought the amp the guy at the shop gave me free Marshall strings, well it's free so why not take it, I changed them as my old ones we're dirty and black, worst strings ever, they sound like those starter pack guitars and after few days went black and high E snapped. After that I bought Ernie Ball they are nice but not too fond of the sound from them.
Now for something completely different.
The breakdown makes me jizz every fucking time.

Lol.. same old metal.

I just changed them. When I first got the guitar I bought a random pack since I didn't know anything about gauges, and this strings aren't really what I want, but for the sake of fixing this sustain problem they'll have to do. (Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48)
The problem with the notes deadening quickly still persists even after changing the strings, though it's MOSTLY noticeable on strings 1-3; it's not as bad on the heavier strings for some reason. Does this mean there's something wrong with my pickups? I would still appreciate help with fixing this so I don't have to pay for some kind of repair, assuming this is fixable at home.
Also, for future reference, what would be the best strings to get for playing mainly metal and for occasionally changing to lower tunings?

Well, there is a little bit more to it than just the strings, someone else can probably explain it better than I can.

Oh waily
It'd be lovely
Hey, what do you guys think of this 7 string? http://www.rondomusic.com/sr370.html I heard it's on par with http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-RG7321-7-String-Electric-Guitar-101859841-i1167515.gc
I watched some videos of it on youtube and it sounds pretty awesome, but some people say that replacing the pickups is a must while others say the stock ones are pretty good. Also if anyone happens to own it how is the FR and does it stay in tune well? How would I go about "blocking" the FR? I heard someone did that to make it easier to tune, but I'd like to know the specifics and what "blocking" it actually does.
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
Also for my 6 string, what would you guys recommend for lower tunings, .010s or .011s? I have .009s right now and my E gets pretty floppy when I drop it to D.

At a list price of $190, it's pretty much guaranteed to be crap.
My friend might sell me his Ibanez RG350DX for £175, should i jump on it?
