I'm thinking of getting a valveking 112, Anything I should know?
Started making a one piece neck today. Step forward for me, as I did the radius, nut and fret slots. It's one solid piece of osage orange; and no truss rod (yes, you can do that, just need to use light strings)
Don't have a lot of money for parts right now, so going to be doing an interim telecaster out of some spare parts I want to get rid of. Might get a p90 soapbar for the neck.
The neck is thin as fuck, but still quite playable. I'm not a fan of thin necks, but seems lots of people are.

Posting it here because I'm not sure how long it'll take me to get started on a body. Not really thread worthy at this point.
My first guitar was an SG special, and I'm still amazed at how decent it is for the price. Buy either a 310 or a 400 and I reckon you'd get a fantastic guitar for the price :)
You could always buy a used Gibson.
I want a Used Gibson SG faded, because they run around $550

I could do many things with this guitar :q:
I was thinking, could you ever make a fretless guitar, not like a lap steel but an actual fretless guitar similar to a fretless bass...

Of course. Just pop the frets off and fill in the gaps, and you're good.
There's tons of guides out there for doing it with bass, but it's precisely the same concept

oh, and nice neck hypno

It's just because i never heard of them before, and how they sound..
What is the point of fretless guitars/basses

Oh shit, that sounded a bit harsh, didn't it? my bad

It's a pretty different, more muffled sort of tone. one of the main things is that you can slide between notes and it will sound smoother, which you can use for just groove, emulating a slide, neat vibrato, or anything you can think of.

Osage has quite an unusual but attractive grain, I like it a lot. I have an Osage in my backyard, it's a pretty interesting tree on the outside as well. Any ideas on the tonal qualities? Doesn't seem too be used for instruments very often, couldn't find anything about the tone.
I did, however, stumble across one of the finest looking acoustic guitars I've ever seen:

dented, but for that price I wouldn't give a flying fuck.
Osage Orange supposedly sounds like rosewood. Similar grain structure and density. Could be why that guitar you posted uses both (or, at least in the neck).

Fretless basses are awesome!
I own one and I love it!
Fretless guitars on the other hand are meh...
It's good for playing quarter tones if you're into that stuff.

Swing, Bossa Rock, Waltz, 2-beat, Rock, Bossa Nova, Beguine.

You might get a bent neck over time. What gauge strings are you gonna use?

Wait, has that got a built in drum machine?

I meant a 7 string I wouldn't have to sell organs for.
There are a pair of PRS 7 strings on Ikebe Gakki for about $20000 each :saddowns:

It allows you to get microtones, which can open you up to properly playing many forms of music impossible in the whole and half tone system.
Wait, has that got a built in drum machine?
Well, it has a "Tempo" control. So unless it automatically changed the tempo of what you're playing, I'm assuming it's a sort of drum/beat machine.
Check this bass out!

And this guitar

Also, probably one of the best pieces that have been composed on a fretless bass.

What scales do I use to get spanish flamenco sounding guitar?
If I was to make my bass fretless, would there be any reason why I wouldn't be able to play songs made with fretted basses? Or does it make much of a difference with those?

There's no limitations imposed by defretting your instrument, but you might find the changeover difficult since you have to be infinitely more accurate with your fretting so your intonation is right. Aside from that, go fucking nuts :buddy:
