But hell if you think symphonic rock needs EMGs
Not needs. I just know that the EMG 81 and 60 work well for it.
Not that any of the other ones you've mentioned might not as well, but I've either no trust of the brands or aren't hearing enough difference in them to merit choosing them over the ones I already know for a fact are good.
Now, if I were a complete and total nutjob, I'd buy a pair of Warpigs, because they sound amazing and notably different (while still a good tone for the application), but I've got to have SOME standards for how much I spend. Shit's gonna sound pretty similar after processing anyway. I'm not seeing why I'd want to drop that extra green except to be a mainstream-hating hipster faggot because "lol teh EMG 81 is so overused roflmower let's all go buy Blackouts."
Not that they wouldn't be worth it if I were in the UK. But I'm not, and I'm doubting having a friend pass them off as a gift through customs to avoid the ridiculous taxes would work.
What? How can you "move up" from bass? The lead guitar and bass play two very different roles. How can one be better than another?
I did not mean it like that, I meant I got sick of bass and our guitarist quit so I took the role of guitarist on.
3 musicians and a bass player walks into a bar.
:downs:
Once upon a time there a was a band,
Just before they were gonna play, the singer noticed the bassist yelling at the drummer.
The singer looks at the bassist and asks him whats wrong.
The bassist shouts, "He untuned one of my strings!"
The singer asks him why he doesn't just tune it back up.
"Because he won't tell which string it was!"
Recommend me some semi-hard, preferably insutrumental guitar music. I've been playing Petruccis Glasgow kiss all the time lately and I'm in love. Anything similiar?
Well there's always Satch and Vai - namely something like Surfing With The Alien or Time (both Satch), or For The Love of God (Vai).
Or, try some Scale the Summit. If that's just not tricky enough, try Anata guitar covers.
I'm going to restring my guitar soon.
However I'd also like the chance to clean the fretboard as well, but I've heard that if I take all the strings off my guitar and then clean the fretboard, it can be dangerous and damage it.
Can anyone tell me otherwise, or the best way to clean my fretboard and then restring my guitar?

Also is it bad if I leave my electric unstringed for 3 days? Will it damage the neck?
[editline]01:06AM[/editline]
What about a day?

No it wont matter if you leave it unstringed
at the most the neck would move a bit due to the lack of tension and you'd have to tighten the truss rod but no you're fine
just leave 1 or 2 strings on there

Just bought this lovely 7 string here. Plays like a beauty!

Depends what gauge strings you have on. With .9s or .10s, taking all the strings off at once is no issue. Once you go higher than that though, be careful.

The funny thing is that it doesn't sound like any nu-metal I've heard. It handles everything that I play from blues to meshuggah type metal. It has a very warm tone from the Dimarzios.

Yeah I was like "blech" when I found out it was a member of korn's signature guitar.

bah, I left a guitar unstringed for 3 months, warped a little, but all it needs is a truss adjustment. Don't worry, a day or two wont hurt it.
Was just searching random uncles on google. One of my uncles which lives across the street happens to be a guitar builder. Boy was I supprised what I found on google, anyway here.

I'm starting to seriously consider the smuggling through customs as a gift option, actually. I've done similar shit through France and Japan before, I can't imagine doing it in the UK is going to be any harder.

I've always thought that's one of the nicest looking Ibbys out there. I really love the look of the bridge and how the string ferrules are so far away from it, but I really don't think my right hand gets along with TOM bridges.
I just found out something... Epiphone is owned by Gibson...

Should I tell him Squier is owned by Fender? I don't know if his heart could take it.
Urelated: Would having ESP make a custom with Bareknuckles probably cost more or less than just buying the Horizon NT-7 and pickups and replacing that shit myself? I don't want to go through the bother of filling out a quote request if it's going to probably still cost more than doing it myself.
No, don't he will figure out Kramer is also owned by Gibson. :ssh:

An esp custom would be at like 6.5 grand dude.

Yeah man, I was laying in bed stressing over it and I just went
Nah fuck it, I have some strings left over
so I put them on really badly, so I can reuse em when I get some proper stuff to use on my fretboard (I removed some of the oil/coating last night when I cleaned it accidentally so I'm going to get some lemon oil to rub on there to get it back on), and put two strings on and tightened them up.
Didn't want to risk it
Also can anyone suggest ways to make my top frets super smooth, because I find that my first 5 are less silky smooth than my other ones.
I don't want to grind it down, or sandpaper it either, no use wrecking it.
Does a smooth fretboard have much effect on action or playabillity?

no. but a smooth/thin neck does.
An esp custom would be at like 6.5 grand dude.
For a 7-string, yeah, it would be something ridiculously expensive like that. Even a 6-string would probably be about $4,500-ish.

That seems odd considering it'd be literally the same shit with different pickups, but I can dig it.
Ah, well. Not like I can't just do it for ~$1400 with Warmoth parts if I get sick of shopping around.

have you considered a carvin?
and no, their customs are WAY better than their ESP standards

Wow they seriously only charge another $500 for the extra string (and therefore larger neck and such)?
Wow...that's...surprising.
