Anyone know any tricks and tips on how the job of setting the intonation easier? It's a pain in the ass. Always been. [editline]12:06PM[/editline]
I have no idea about what my preferred thickness is
I've used 1mm, 1,5mm and 3mm. All feel great IMO.
i prefer tortex over jazz iii's
I use these ATM
i prefer tortex over jazz iii's
You can get Jazz IIIs in Tortex, I've been meaning to try them because the only thing I don't like about Jazz IIIs is that I keep dropping them.
I really want one of those Fuzz Face pedals.
I've got the Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzzface, the blue one. It's a replica of a BC-108 sillicon fuzz face, with jimis name on the box. And it fucking rocks. A bit harsher than the germanium fuzz faces but I like that.
I use these. The other guitarist in my band turned me onto them and i love them
I use these, I want the sharpness of a Jazz III but I don't like the small size.
^I might try those. I don't like the small size either but i like the point. I think i'm going to go get some
*Tortex .88*
My favourite
I have a bunch of different picks, I use mostly the jazz III, but I've got on of Steve Vai's picks which are pretty cool, some softer picks, and some ceramic picks.
Since we're stuck on the subject of picks, I'll throw a talking point in the mix to break the monotony. Fan fret/multiscale instruments Anyone got anything to say on the subject? Anyone tried one/own(ed) one? A fan fret is high on my list of priorities since my 7 string has the most heinous low tension on the low B, though the high E is divine. Besides they look FUCKING AWESOME.
I'm borrowing an amp from a someone until I get the money for a new one, but I'm new to guitar (I'm a bass player). Could someone reccomend to me some settings for Death Metal(Bloodbath, Cannibal Corpse, Dissection, etc.) tone on http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-TransTube-Rage-158-1x8-15W-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=481364 this? I'm playing with a Epiphone Les Pual Special ii. I know it's probably not "brutal" but I like it.
What makes you think you'll be able to play that kind of stuff if you're 'new' to guitar. I know you're a bassist but I didn't think death metal was that simple to pick up
I like to use these pick Mainly the .88mm

I've been playing for two years now, but there's still one fucking chord I find impossible to play. I can't play the A-shape B Major Barre chord at the second fret. For ages I've resorted to just playing it with the E-shape, at the seventh fret, but that doesn't always fit right with some songs. Any tips with doing this? I've tried a ton of ways. Either I can't get one finger to barre the D, G and B strings - or if I try to place a finger on each, the barre two frets above isn't tough enough to hold the strings down, and it either buzzes or mutes the chord.

You might also want to skip playing the low E-string entirely since you want to have a B as the bass note. That's how it's done. And that's how you should do it. You really need to learn this. Not only for B-chords, but for A♯-, C♯-, and D♯-chords aswell.
Just bar it with your third finger, its ten billion times easier.
Just bar it with your third finger, its ten billion times easier.
How do you bar it without touching the high e-string? And won't that just make it harder to transition to minor/7/other -chords?

What's the general opinion of EMG pickups compared to passive (specifically, humbuckers)? Are they worth installing?
depends what you want to play More gain? Certainly Clean tone? No
depends what you want to play More gain? Certainly Clean tone? No
Metal so I guess that means yes, thanks!

Surely that diagram's wrong? I thought that you mute the sixth string on an A shape barre chord, that would be B/F#, not B.
Surely that diagram's wrong? I thought that you mute the sixth string on an A shape barre chord, that would be B/F#, not B.
Yeah. Though F♯ is a part of a B Major chord. So it's not that critical.
Metal so I guess that means yes, thanks!
People on this forum know far more about pickups than I Just wait around dude, I'm sure they'll be able to tell you exactly what you want to know consult hypno toad also
