I agree that sometimes aesthetic choices come about as a means to a tonal end, but I have no faith in this being a designer's intent in most cases
Are you trying to imply that ugly motherfucker isn't an ugly motherfucker because it is necessary to provide the brütal3st met4l t0n3 possible? Because I'd question how anyone could be convinced to buy something like this for the looks alone, when it appears to have been hit with an ugly stick, before being hit with several ugly clubs, followed by being run over by the ugly truck.
I too think it looks like a ugly guitar. Anyways, I'm thinking of getting a Epiphone Les Paul in a week or so, anyone have any opinions on why or why not I should buy it. (used for around $300 with a hard case free)
It appears to have been hit with an ugly stick, before being hit with several ugly clubs, followed by being run over by the ugly truck.
Couldn't agree more. The only BC rich I've ever found appealing was the Bich.
I got a question about the POD X3 http://line6.com/podx3/recording.html This here means that I just plug my guitar into the pod, plug the POD into my comp via usb, open up logic and start recording yes? No need for an mbox or some other pre amp?

It should work fine on it's own, and while not all DAWs readily recognize all USB audio devices, I've heard Logic and Garage Band both recognize the Pod stuff.
How much should I sell my busted Hondo Guitar for. Missing nut and string pegs, and strings. or should I just fix it myself? Brothers friend asked me if I wanted to sell it to him.
Couldn't agree more. The only BC rich I've ever found appealing was the Bich.
I like the Bich and I have a soft spot for Mockingbird basses

Can't figure this out with my bass. I know the notes are off which should mean an intonation problem, but I check the open string and the harmonic and they are both perfectly in tune. [editline]01:22AM[/editline] Eh I just read somewhere that you don't use the harmonic on the bass, you push the string down.
Does anyone have any idea of how to take care of the metallic pickup material? I've been using an Epiphone G400 which has Al Nico humbucker pickups and the metallic parts just seem to sort of "rust" and fade after a few weeks I got it and seemingly losing its shine. Is there like anything to maybe restore its shine?
Oh snap I have a G400 Mine's still shiny as fuck though

Is there like anything to maybe restore its shine?
The only magnetic part of the pickups is either the bar magnet underneath, or the magnetic polepeices. If it's a humbucker, the adjustable polepieces are probably made a steel, in which case you're fucked. If it is indeed Alnico, the polepiece slugs in the apposing coil shouldn't rust. Alnico should contain no compounds that rust. Like Is aid, the screws are made of steel, any anti-rust stuff would work fine, but I can't gaurnetee that'll bring back their shine (and it may actually discolor them). Maybe get a tiny amount of wd40, apply it to a cloth, and just scrub the rust off. [editline]08:13AM[/editline] Oh, do you mean a metallic pickup cover? Is it actually rust, or is it just smudged? The same WD40 thing would probably apply. if it really bothers you, you could always buy new covers, or new pickups entirely.
It's the pickup cover he's talking about hypno
WD40. It's the only rust prevention/rust solution (that comes to my mind) that doesn't permanently stain whatever you put it on. If you're going to use it, use it with discretion, don't slather it on.. By sort of wiping or scrubbing, you might get the rust off, and a bit of the stuff on the surface afterward may prevent more rust.
How much should I sell my busted Hondo Guitar for. Missing nut and string pegs, and strings. or should I just fix it myself? Brothers friend asked me if I wanted to sell it to him.
I cold sell it for $45 and get another guitar thats just as broken at end of year if I wanted. Gona sell it for around $30-45 i've decided.

(used for around $300 with a hard case free)
Epiphone's alright, but have you heard of Agile? Reviews are almost always favorable on their LP copies, you get better parts and woods than come stock on Epi's of the same price (18:1 Grover tuners, for one), there are a lot of finish options, and the guy that runs the website that sells them is known for his customer service excellence. Only downside is that you can't try them out at any stores. However, the return policy at Rondo Music is flexible: 30 days, no questions asked, you pay shipping.
This baby is sweet: http://www.rondomusic.com/product1206.html
The finish on that is horrible.
Anyone aid me in finding more information on Parkwood guitars? - They are a higher end Cort as I understand. I played a Parkwood cutaway in a guitar store a while back and I swear it was the nicest guitar I've ever heard.
amp modeling sounds like shit no matter what compared to a real amp
That's what you get when you play trough your logitech 2.1 set or trough headphones. Seriously I haven't seen an amp or an amp modeler that sounds good trough headphones. I use pod x3 and my grannys 40 year old vinyl player as an amp. Sounds so so much better than trough my 180€ computer speaker pair.
I have one, they are good. Make sure your getting a Standard for that price, or a Studio Deluxe, An LP 100 or Special is a rip off.
Thanks for the info. The one I'm planning to get is a standard so I guess everything is good.
I'm having trouble with alternative picking. I just can't seem to do it. Whenever I do it on the upstroke my pick just gets caught on the string and doesn't pick it, it just bends it.
Rotate the pick ~45 degrees in the Z axel so that the pick and the strings aren't aligned.
I'm planning to buy a Fender Jagstang from ebay, anything I should know about it, for example, can they keep the guitar in one part when it's shipped to Europe?
Can't figure this out with my bass. I find it easier since you're working with the same note, and trying to get both to the same pitch is easier to tell
The finish on that is horrible.
You more of a solid finish guy?
I'm planning to buy a Fender Jagstang from ebay, anything I should know about it, for example, can they keep the guitar in one part when it's shipped to Europe?
The usually have to take the neck off. But your dad can put it back on. Hell even you could put it back on.
The usually have to take the neck off. But your dad can put it back on. Hell even you could put it back on.
Doesn't that mess up the tension on the guitar?
Doesn't that mess up the tension on the guitar?
There isn't any tension if there isn't any strings.
Doesn't that mess up the tension on the guitar?
Basically what Pepin said. But you might want to take it to your teacher so he could re adjust the neck.
You more of a solid finish guy?
Not really, it's just that guitar looks horrible for some reason. In my opinion.
It's too light for my tastes. Just kind of off-putting
