Hey guys, I have a quick question. I own an acoustic guitar and I've been playing for about a year. Well, in all honesty I've only properly played it for 6 months. Now, I can only play without a pick. Should I learn how to play WITH a pick? Is it worth it? Will continuing to play without a pick lead to problems in the future?
Try learning both, using a pick is better then you play some harder stuff, like songs by The Who. But if you like to play leading lines or flamengo, using your fingers is better.

Like the guy from Dire Straights.
Any comments? :v:
Sounds like a Pokemon boss battle, with the melody missing.
Can you guys help me out with this project I'm working on? http://www.muziboo.com/Kookygoose/music/improv-1-wip/ I'm happy with the beginning, the chords not so much.
I think you need some practice composing so that you can make something that feels like a song. I suggest downloading guitar pro or something similar and doing a bit of composing in there. Just come up with a decent riff or progression and transcribe it into guitar pro, and then think of a transition for the next part and so on and get it until you like it. I'm assuming you are making a song since you are calling it project, although if you are just trying to do some improvisation, do it with a backing track. Go onto youtube and you can find a lot of them.

Just got new strings for the les paul copy. Same gauge that was on it (.10) but i just cannot get the tuning right even after using a tuner. Could anyone help?
Just got new strings for the les paul copy. Same gauge that was on it (.10) but i just cannot get the tuning right even after using a tuner. Could anyone help?
Stretch them - grab them at the 12th fret and pull up an inch or so. You can go higher if you want but don't snap them, obviously. Tune after all the strings are stretched.
Working on a new track for a change on my seven string. Sounding pretty damn great. Gonna post a WIP when I get it done.
Well i got it all tuned turns out my current tuner was buggered had to go out and get a new one :(
Well i got it all tuned turns out my current tuner was buggered had to go out and get a new one :(
Just find and play a midi file of EADGBE or whatever tuning you're using, and tune to that. There's tons out there on the internet, and I'm sure there are even proper samples of real guitars playing open strings you can tune to. Best part is that it's free.
Not exactly convenient in live situations though.
What tunings do you mostly use people? On my seven I use: B E A D G B E A D A D G B E A C G C F A D On my six I use: D A D G B E C G C F A D A# F A# D# G C
Currently: 7: B E A D G B E 6: D G C F A D, D A D G B E I want a fixed bridge 7 to put in A standard and A D A D G B E. I really love D standard and drop D but I like the extended range and feel of the 7.

Because I like having a 7 in standard tuning, and it has a double locking trem. It would take a long time to set the thing up every time I wanted to change tunings.
Because I like having a 7 in standard tuning, and it has a double locking trem. It would take a long time to set the thing up every time I wanted to change tunings.
Ooooh, I thought you had a standard bridge, not a tremolo.
I use standard and drop D.
I stick to standard usually, but I use drop D sometimes.
Standard.
Because I like having a 7 in standard tuning, and it has a double locking trem. If you set everything up well you can tune a full note up or down in three minutes. Just remove or add a spring and fine tune.
Downtuning is a pain in the ass. Might buy another guitar just for my drop C tunings. Although drop D is just changing one string from standard.

Occasionally D but drop my Low E string down to A for mastodons remission stuff like mother puncher and March of the Fire Ants.
Wine red. I have coupons for 15 or so free shavers. I don't even know. [editline]02:35AM[/editline] Idea: Hand coupons out to people in public, comment on hairy pubes.
Are they electric? If they're electric you can use them as makeshift E-bows.
Hey I recently moved from an electro acoustic with medium gauge strings and I am finding it really hard to play this semi-hollow electric, It's hard to describe but the only way I can think of describing is that it's like walking on ice. anyone noticed this before and found a way round? might just put on thicker strings.
