Dude, the sound it makes is perfect for my slide guitar playing, and even old blues. So stop beeing so hard on it.
I'm not being hard on it. I love ghetto instruments. Stump fiddles, plunger talkboxes, it's all good.
Meant "horrible" in the "sick" sense. Not literally bad, just uniquely ghetto as fuck. Would actually consider doing the same to my nasty acoustic considering I've no electric on hand and won't for months.
Record something with it, please.
I went in a few weeks later when I heard they had mistakenly put up a MIA Fender Jazz in Oly White with a tort pickguard for 500 dollars. I scrounged up the cash, got there, found it, played it, walked up to the desk with it and started the process of buying it. The clerk did a internet search for New MIA Jazz basses and he couldn't find any under 1299 + tax. He knew what a MIA Fender was worth, but the dumb fucking manager (nylon strings guy) had mistaked it for a used MIM. I don't know how you mistake something like that, but Best Buy (atleast the one by me) has a tag pricing policy, whatever is on the tag is what you pay. So I got a brand new MIA Jazz with the hardcase, 2 sets of strings, the bass and the setup kit, for around 565.
Only redeeming factor about best buy. I actually talked to the manager (nylon strings guy) and he recognized me and tried to get security to rush me out of the store but seeing as I had just dropped 565 they didn't do shit to me, I sincerely thanked him for his stupidity and wished him a speedy recovery from the brain damage he must've surely incurred from being dropped on his head as a child.
I walked out with the biggest :smug: look on my face ever. The only thing that would have made that day more bad ass was if the Best Buy blew up behind me and someone was filming it while I was walking slowly, carrying my bass.
Oh my god that must have been a huge kick in the nuts for nylon strings guy.
Awesome deal too.

Oh yeah man fo' sho', How should i record it? I fint it both fun, and interesting as hell to rebuild or just do something stupid with instruments. Some end up bad as hell, and some end up useful and fucking awesome, in this case, its a mixture of both :)
You got any good recording program?

My dream has come true! I was at a police station checking out what they've gotten in for their annually auction. And i found this!
I've talked to the auction chief, and i will get her for 1600 dollars. it's an late 80's les paul standard that has gotten a rebuild and was stolen at the luthier who was rebuilding it. But no one has claimed it since it has been such a long time. Fuck yeah!
i got a fat strat a couple of years back, really impressed with how much thrashing it can take and still sound decent, as opposed to a gibson were it sounds so "precious" and delicate. although i do think that gibsons beat fenders on the appearance end of things, the SG probably the best looking guitar ever made, fender guitars look like they are from the 50's.
I don't think I've played for more than 10 minutes every 3 days in the last 2 weeks.
I thought I'd be playing everyday these holidays, in reality I just can't be bothered
oh yeah, how do i darken the rosewood on the fingerboard? i want it almost as dark as black
paint it lol
paint it lol
That's not a good idea pal. It will look like shit.

Not meaning to rain on your parade but are you sure it's legit? I know you're saying it's from the 80's and it's a rebuild but are you 100% you're not getting shafted on a fake here?

Audacity is always a good choice, if you're just doing a straight unedited recording.
As for "how"...I'm assuming you don't have an interface. So if your mic is decent, just mic your amp, and if it isn't, hook the line out on your amp to the mic in on your soundcard, and just make sure to keep the volume pretty low.
Audacity is always a good choice, if you're just doing a straight unedited recording.
For anything more complex, I'd recommend Reaper. It's not really free, but the trial is unrestricted and lasts forever. If you have the money, I would support the guys and pay for a licence. But if not, just stick with the "trial".

Yeah, but the shittiest part is, it got stolen along with my ampeg SVT 3 head and 810e cabinet. that combo cost me 1600. FUCK. Shit got stolen straight out of my garage one day after band practice. Absolute fucking bull shit. I found the bass in a pawn shop, showed him I owned it (showed him the receipt, registration and shit) and LEGALLY he's supposed to give it back to me since I proved ownership but he's saying he'll give it back to me for 200. I told the police department and they're "talking" to the guy (they don't give a shit) but if he sells it I can sue him for what I purchased the bass for. (which is a double edged sword)
I think I actually cried when I saw all my shit missing. Atleast they left my effects board, cables and other basses :(

You...leave instruments...in your garage.
That sucks, but you gotta admit you put it in a bad place. That's like the college kids who wonder how their shit gets snatched from their vans or dorm rooms.
I am convinced, practising with a backing track is the way to go!

Can I get Metallica/Jimi Hendrix/Pearl Jam/Slash-sounds (etcetcetc) with it? :v:
Any ideas on what i should get to record from my amp? I literally have no idea, i've just been plugging the output into the mic slot but it sounds terrible. Is there a specialist thing i should use? Also, good headphones to use whilst doing so?

Leaving a 160 lbs amp rig along with my bass in MY property is a bad place?
If I can't leave my shit in my garage where the fuck am I supposed to put it? And yes, my garage was closed.
inside your house?
FUCK SAKE. My piece of shit Line 6 just blew out for the 2nd time, 3 weeks after getting it repaired. I'm taking this back and demanding a refund / a better amp in return. Recommendations for aroud £150ish value for a decent amp? 30w if possible?
Saw this nice Gibson the other day:

Not sure if I'd be able to make use of the stereo output, though.
That same guitar in Cherry red is the one Marty uses in Back To The Future, by the way - except that had a retrofitted bigsby.

Your car is your property too, that doesn't mean it's a good place to store things.
General rule in bad neighborhoods is to keep valuable stuff out of sight, which you're going to blow by practicing, and nearest to where you sleep, which would be...wherever you sleep.

Oh man, i want that so bad. I'm an absolute sucker for 50's/60's music, I'd just go and splurge and buy a classic amp aswell and sit playing old rock and roll on it. Whats the damage price wise? How many thousands??

Ok, so I'm supposed to tote about 30 lbs of cables, 20 lbs of pedals, a 9 lbs bass, a 160 lbs rig up 5 stairs from my garage in to my house, now, once it gets inside my house, where am I supposed to put it then? I can't leave it in the living room, kitchen, anywhere downstairs, and there are 2 flights of stairs to get to my room.
Why are you guys trying to justify my shit getting stolen?

How is that the amps fault, if it blew out for a 2nd time you're clearly doing shit wrong.
Got my bass overdrive pedal today :v:

I was waiting for this response. And my response is, I switched it on and it smoked. I wasnt even playing it. All the knobs are turned to 0, i'm very careful with it, and i rarely play it loudly. It's been repaired with the same problem a few weeks ago, so yeah "i'm an idiot for switching a guitar amp on", it's a piece of shit. I've used a little 15 watt fender for as long as i've had the line 6 and it's never blown out. Never blew out my old practice one either, some shitty no brand 15 w one, it's not me, its this Line 6.

That ES-355 doesn't have the varitone switch that's on the ES-345, the split parallelogram inlays or the stereo output. It is very similar, though.

That's the right model, but a Bigsby was added to the one in the film after it was originally made (you can see the holes for the removed stopbar tailpiece).
EDIT:
They also have different headstocks.
