Looks like it was made in MSpaint.
I'm looking for a 7 string. Any suggestions? current options are Agile 725 or Schecter Hellraiser C-7. Price range needs to be under about $1000 AUS
My 7-string Schecter c7 hellraiser fr diamond is the best thing I've ever played. I highly recommend. I don't think you can get it for under 999 AUS, but the same model without a floyd rose is much cheaper.
Just think ahead to if you would ever need a tremolo if you're thinking of buying a guitar that has it as an option. If you're writing your own stuff you might want to incorporate some whammy action, but if you're just playing other songs, you might not want it as it may make the song sound atrocious. I personally (and if I could even play guitar properly :v:) with Dimebag being my guitar idol, would go for a tremolo, but everyone is different. In the end it comes down to personal preference.
I reckon I'll get this guitar. Thoughts?
hmmm, I've never played the standard sg before.
I got a g-400 and it's pretty solid. so are G-310s
Maybe you should consider a G-310 as well
Respectable make, made of good wood (alder is a particularly good wood for guitars when you want to play metal, rosewood is nice on the fingerboard and is easy to clean with lemon oil) good pickups (Humbuckers are common, and having them means that should you want to replace them then you can get Blackouts or similar).
Good price too. I'd just be torn at which colour to get.

Alder, maple, and bolt on, on an SG? :saddowns:
Just checking L&Q quickly, there's the vintage G-400. $390, and looks like a classic SG.

Different topic, wow, this is a really classy Ibanez. It's like an Ibanez S, a Les Paul, and a PRS custom 2 had an illegitimate baby.

Hypno-toad's neck joint looks better. Is this argument over now?

I actually have one of these. One of the pickups is a but thin, but the other one (the "rhythm" one as it's called) actually sounds really good. It's also really light and quite easy to play, however the fretboard isn't the best in the world.
My one complaint with it is that the body has a largish block where the neck is attached, meaning access to 21 is not really the best. It ain't that big of a deal though.
Overall, it's an amazing guitar for the price. If you have the money I'd buy a G400 (better pickups, better fret access as it doesn't have the block, looks a bit nicer) but for the price I don't thing you can beat the ol' SG special.

hmmmm im starting to lean on the vox amp i picked out....
can sanyone find me a decent amp for no more than £250, where i can get an iron maiden type sound?
I hear Vox Valvetronics are very good
For rhythm parts in dropped tunings, you'll probably want an extended scale (baritone) guitar. Basically a guitar with a longer neck which adds tension to the strings, making the sound a bit tighter and more articulate, which is helpful especially for lower tunings.
The Agile Sceptor 627 is a good example, not really sure how the stock pickups are though.
As for pickups, it really depends what sound you want. I'm going to assume you're playing metal/hard rock because of the dropped tunings, so you'll probably want something high output.
I'm mostly going to be using it for soundtrack stuff. Lot of heavy stuff, yeah.
But that seems...cheap, for some reason. Maybe it's just because I'm looking at Paul Landers' gear for reference, but even after putting in EMGs and better tuners, that'd still only cost like $860 and labor- half of which I can probably do myself. I keep thinking if I don't break $1k I'm still not getting anything worthwhile.
Pfft, there are lots of quality guitars for under 1k

Don't worry, Agiles are very solid guitars.

There's a seven string Sceptor in action, this guy (Keith Merrow) has made some incredibly tight and heavy stuff with that. However he has been lately endorsed by Bernie Rico Jr whom obviously builds superior instruments.

I don't mean to be a prick, but when I can't even buy their shit from, say, Musician's Friend, I have to wonder why exactly that is if they're good. Or, if the price doesn't matter as much as I'm assuming it does, why I wouldn't just pay some local monkey to make me a custom. Or why I wouldn't just buy an ESP that comes with the pickups I want and would cost me less than installing them on something else.

To be honest I'm not sure why you can't buy them from retailers typically.
I suggested the Agile because it was the first decent baritone guitar that popped into my head, and I had no idea what your price range was. Of course there are other options, if you have heaps of money to burn go ahead and order a custom KxK or BRJ or something. Personally, if I had a price range of say, $2000, I would buy the Agile, equip it with some killer pickups and then buy an ENGL amplifier with the $1200 or so I have left.
More expensive/more popular does not necessarily mean better. I'm not saying Agile makes the best guitars out there, but they're certainly up there with the best bang for your buck guitars.
