Guys, been playing some chords recently My thumb fucking canes as I move up and down the fretboard, and it comes to the point where it becomes too painful to play. How can I overcome this? or what am I doing wrong
Possibly bad technique but sometimes certain necks cause your hands to cramp up. Ibanez Wizard 3 necks make my hands cramp after a while for example (but I still like them for fast playing). Try a guitar with a thicker neck, if that helps that could be the problem.
I would say bad technique, never been a problem before
Maybe your hands got bigger
I got my paycheck, might get new guitar soon As some of you might know, These are my two current options: Ibanez DN520K Schecter C-1 Standard DSB Artistic for Ibanez, heart for Schecter
What's your budget?
400-700€
I need a thing that splits guitar mono signal into stereo. It'll be before my preamp. So do I need a pre-preamp or does it work without? And what are these "things" called?

Because if it's just mono to stereo TRS you should be able to say to someone at Radio Shack you want a 1/4" TRS mono female to 1/4" TRS stereo male adapter and be on your merry way.

Or do I pick six, then that's it just slide down to eight up to six again, down to five and back up to six? confused
That could either be a pull-off to the 6th fret, or a separately picked note. Your call on what sounds better. It's definitely not a slide though, that would play physically awkward.
I got five springs in the back
shiiiiiiiiitttt [editline]04:40AM[/editline]
I need a thing that splits guitar mono signal into stereo. NObody seems to like the Darkstone :v: Is it the shape or what?
My birthday is coming up in a few months and I was wondering if I should either get a Floyd Rose installed onto my current guitar or if I should just shop for guitars with Floyd Roses already on them. My current (and only) guitar is a Schecter Hellraiser Deluxe and I've had it for almost a year now. I do like to change my tuning a lot and I realize that putting on a tremolo system will make changing tunings a pain in the ass, so that's why I'm asking what you guys think I should do. Thing is, I have no doubt in my mind that just getting a Floyd Rose installed will be a lot cheaper than finding a guitar I'm going to really like the feel of that has a tremolo on it. So, what do?

If you're really intent on getting a guitar with a Floyd, try looking at Agile. They have a pretty good range of guitars with Floyds at around the $500 mark, and their quality is surprisingly high
Woah I just played Bleed from the start to the end, oh god it hurts. Going to do a cover video of it when I can play it flawlessly.

also had my first look at barre chords with my new today Just wondering, what I'm supposed to be doing from now to my next lesson is getting familiar with the chords themselves, but whever I try to play a barre for example, a C on the third fret it sounds terrible Is this because I'm doing it wrong? Or is are barre chords themselves supposed be played lower down the fretboard at eg 7th or 6th fret because it's easier to press the strings down there/less tension. I'd just like to know because it's demoralizing [editline]09:47PM[/editline] double post, sorry
Are you sure you're barring the right fret?I like to think that I'm replacing the nut with my index finger.
Yeah that's exactly what I was told by my teacher I'm sure I'm fretting in the correct place, I just can't get a decent tone I'm not fretting the barre part correctly, what I mean is I can't press the strings down fully enough for the notes that I'm not individually fretting to ring out in a clear tone, they're kind of muted. Damn

Mind blown
Like can you give us a tab of what you gotta do...

I would make love to that.

Damn
Either you have some really shitty action, or you're not pushing down hard enough with one of the two fingers. Either way, you only REALLY need the root, fifth, and octave of every barre to play most metal songs, plus the lower, meatier tone sounds cool with hard rock too. You can play a chord like that by holding barre form, but using only the index, ring, and pinky on each respective string for the chord. For example, a G power chord would become this: Index 3rd fret low E Ring 5th fret A Pinky 5th fret D
Fuck I can't get last.fm to work properly, I imported my listening history from WMP but I think it only imported this weeks or something, because I have like a hundred plays

Damn
Try barreing with the side of your finger? Also I need some suggestions on songs to play. Easy-moderate range and I'll play anything from Pop-Rock to Metal. Not death metal however, and I doubt I could play any of those songs anyway ):
Really been looking into a 6505+ 112 Combo. I hear it's incredibly loud, so it could be my new all purpose amp. Y'know practice at home and band practice amp, maybe a few concerts here and there.
I've really been wanting a Fender Starcaster lately, like so: But they're extremely hard to find. :v:

I'll clean it up just for you, I never touch it anymore, it's got a floyd on it too. 2x humbuckers, 1 single coil in the middle. only problem is that it's dusty, can be fixed in 30 seconds.
