Came from the music shop today with a frown on my face. I had recently spent 239,000 kr on a new Mac (incoming flame/laughter/boxes/fanboyism) and I had to see it. A mesa/boogie Stiletto Ace head that came with a Mesa/boogie 2x12 cab and a flight case for the head on the amazing price of 250,000 kr. For those not familiar with Icelandic pricing each of them were over 150,000 kr seperate and somehow the store is putting it on a deal for 250,000 kr to get a Head, the 2x12 cab and a flight case. :smithicide:
You should return that Mac and get the Mesa instead.
My compromise is getting a really low end amp (about 40 bucks), HOWEVER, it is a Marshall. (Which I assume is good amp brand.) And I tested it, and it sounded fine to me. Is this smart? Cheeseing out on the amp for the guitar?
That's definitely an MG, I have one and they pretty much suck all the tone out of your guitar. The distortion is very fizzy. So if you got the Marshall, the Iceman would be wasted (soundwise that is). I'd save up a bit an get a low wattage tube amp.
does it sound all like WERGWERGWERGWERGWERGWERG?
STOP THAT :saddowns:
You want to be able to barre any fret. Wait.. you own an SG but you can't even barre? :sweatdrop:
I've been playing for like seven months and I've been learning what I've been told to learn cut me some fucking slack I've never once said I was good, and I did then I was fucking lying Jesus, even competent is a blatant lie [editline]06:22PM[/editline]
:hfive:
Brofist
That reminds me...why on earth did I ever sign up for that forum? It sure as hell wasn't to deliver you pictures. There's the other two.
By god...that is sextastic
You should return that Mac and get the Mesa instead.
but but but I need my home recording :smith:
90% percent of your tone is in your amp. If you have a decent guitar, get a new amp. Don't buy a Marshall at that price, I can guarantee you it will be an MG, which is pretty much bottom of the rung stuff. If you're gonna have about $250 I would recommend a Blackstar HT5, a Roland Cube, a Vox Valvetronix, a Peavey Vypyr or saving a little more and getting a Jet City JCA2122RC. Particularly the first and last options for tone you'll stay happy with, or any others if you want to experiment more.
Would a guitar with only 21 frets count as decent? It has served me well over the time I've been using it, but I play a lot of metal, so it's kinda annoying not being able to play those things that need those last few frets. (Course I could always just move up, but it's not the same.) Plus, the humbuckers on the Iceman are very appealing. And of course, it looks awesome.
The amount of frets doesn't tell you how good a guitar is. Though when I'm playing thrash 22 frets is crippling, let alone 21.
How do you fix an acoustic guitar with a foot sized hole in the bottom corner.
How do you fix an acoustic guitar with a foot sized hole in the bottom corner.
You take it to a shop and let them deal with it

And of course, it looks awesome.
To be honest I really don't understand why people see having 21 or 22 frets as a negative on a guitar. Quite frankly as a guitarist you are gonna spend about 95% of your time below the 15th fret, and I dunno, in a way while the concept of a 24th fret makes more sense, it kind of makes me default to playing scales and ending on the 24th fret E, rather than getting a bit more creative out of necessity. But I'm digressing. If you can't stand your guitar and really want the Iceman, get it. But if you can live with your (what I will assume is a strat) for a while, then I would invest in one of the amps I recommended before, because in the long run it will be a more worthwhile purchase than going for the Marshall you talked about. Entirely up to you :buddy: [editline]08:40PM[/editline]
How do you fix an acoustic guitar with a foot sized hole in the bottom corner.
If you have the wood from the hole, then try lining it up, Titebond-ing either surface and then clamping I guess. Don't expect miracles and don't expect it to look great. To be honest rather than risk further damage I would probably just leave it [editline]08:44PM[/editline]
Anybody here have any experience with Delano pups? I think a replacement set on my bass is probably my next purchase, and I want to be a poser and not default to Duncans.
There are some pretty good reviews of them up on Harmony Central, but I haven't heard of them otherwise. I would look at the price compared to Bartolini's or Nordstrand's personally, since the Bartolini's in my friend's fretless sound amazing, and from what I've gleaned, Nordstrand are like bass Bare Knuckle
but but but I need my home recording :smith:
Mesa+recording interface for Windows=cheaper than Mac-Mesa.

What has me worried about Nordstrand is the whole "it's like hand wound, but not!" tagline. I'd look at Fralins before Nords just because they're not trying to sound hand wound, they are hand wound.
Mesa+recording interface for Windows=cheaper than Mac-Mesa.
Cheap recording interfaces suck, though. Excluding that Mac exclusive Apogee.
On a related note, maybe Lace pickups? The demos sound amazing. Ridiculously clear. Though maybe that's not what you're going for
Oh, he edited the main one back into his post, w/e. There's the other two.
it was already in the main post..o_o
it was already in the main post..o_o
"He" in this instance is you, bro. You had the one picture in your post for a moment before, I was just putting them all up.
On a related note, maybe Lace pickups? The demos sound amazing. Ridiculously clear. Though maybe that's not what you're going for
The Lace's do sound good. I dunno, I'm mostly looking at the Delanos because they have this really nice humbucking set that I could use for heavier stuff. Jazz bass or no, I'm sure as hell not using it for jazz, so just sounding funky clean doesn't mean much to me.
Hey guys listen to this riff I just came up with http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/99824964/file.html I think I should speed it up a bit...
Hey guys, I broke my high E string last night, but it was a stock, so whatever. What size strings should I consider for Metal playing? I play in D standard usually, and sometimes Drop A.
I play with .10's on an Ibanez GIO because It has a thin neck, I have .13's on my Warlock but they kind of hurt. I use .10's for drop b.
I'm going to change the strings on my guitar once more. Got .013 on it now, but the neck is warping like a motherfucker and cracks are appearing everywhere!
I like it, but the higher pitched "bah-nahnuhahnuh" part comes in randomly sometimes.
Yeah I gotta practice my pinch harmonics :v:
such a high output I love my new pickups :buddy:
[IMG_thumb]http://thenumberoftheblog.com/666/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/keytar.jpeg[/IMG_thumb]
Bah, keytars are abominations.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPpbekTXC2M&feature=related Damn, I want an 8 string guitar :v: Black Metal? :v:
Bah, keytars are abominations.
whoever disagreed is an abomination
Keytars are cool shut up
Hey guys listen to this riff I just came up with http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/99824964/file.html I think I should speed it up a bit...
I like it. Yeah, I think you should speed it up just a tiny bit.
Keytars are cool shut up
For starters, it is much more comfertable to play a keyboard like a bloody keyboard rather than a guitar. Second, people with keytars look like complete tossers playing their instrument.
