So I just got back from jamming with a friend for the first time. Was awesome. I played on a Peavey Vyper 75, which I am definitely going to save up for.
Only a month or 2 till i get a Epi Dot, can't wait.
So I was just thinking about recording some stuff and making a few song with my guitar on the computer. I was just wondering If my following Idea would work out.

Yes and it's common for people to do that. That is the way I have mine setup, although it's more from my RP250 to my computer.
There are some advantages to doing recording that way (less chance of noise being introduced, can record with headphones on), and of course there are some disadvantages (may not sound as good, the sound doesn't hit the air), but if it works for you it works.
I suggest you start out with no volume, record and slowly bring it up until you get some good level in there. Getting it to a point where it is in no danger of clipping yet still loud is a good place because then your guitar to noise ratio will be way high. An issue with recording at low levels is that when you boost it you also boost any unwanted noise. If you listen to Stairway to Heaven you can actually hear some noise on the recording because the guitar was recorded at a low level and was boosted.
Wow! Last friday I got my new 27.7 scale prs baritone guitar and the difference in tone between my prestige heritage elite guitar 24.75 scale (with seymour duncans jb and 59) and the prs baritone is amazing. I get that deep clear punchy sound out of everystring! Drilled the tuner a bit to fit my new 72 string and got an again more punchy tight awesome deep sound! In an nice F# tuning mixed with standart from the 2nd string (standart C#)
I'm thinking about modding my Samick TR4 guitar, right now it's got a 3-way switch, 1 tone and 1 volume. I want to fit it with a 5-way switch, which would go like this.
Neck -> Neck single coil -> Both humbucking -> Bridge single coil -> Bridge
But also want to make a series-parallel switch, most likely with a push-pull pot. Thing is, I don't want to make the two coils of a humbucker into parallel, but the neck and bridge pickup, to get a more stratocaster-ish tone from it.
How should I get to it?
And potentially if it would be possible, use another push-pull to split coils in the "middle" position

Before you ask, the pups are Duncans with four wires coming from them, so splitting the coils is a possibility
where the fuck has hypno been recently?
I just remembered

You got two humbuckers or two single coils?
I think he has two splitable 'buckers

So you want to take a cable, connect one end to the speaker output on your amp head and the other end to the computer? If you do, DON'T DO IT. It'll blow the amp and probably the computer's line in.
If you're talking about an emulated line out on the amp then yeh, go for it.

Two humbuckers, it's a PRS/SG crossover sort of thing
And you want to split them?
Split, and also have a series-parallel option

My buddy blew out two amps doing this and he didn't know why.

I know a guy that's done the same, I think people don't realise how dangerous it is to connect a head to anything other than a cab.
As a general rule of thumb, only ever connect the speaker output from the head to a speaker, or I guess an attenuator. NEVER to a mixer, an interface or a line in. Also, only ever turn the head on with a speaker attached.

I think I should speed it up a bit...
It sounds really boring and bland in my ear, but hey some seem to like it. You should really do something to the sound though :psypop:
Just learned this whole song by ear. Ballsy bass tone. Me likes. :buddy:

Oh cool dude, you played all that? I hear you used drumsite :) I hear it from the samples, how did you get that fat bass drum sound?
By the way, you can guess how I know about that

I prefer micing an amp to record.
I have a problem. When I play, I don't have to play for a long time before I have to tune the guitar again. When I bend (primarily e, B and G) they get out of tune and when I tune it again, it makes "pling, pling, pling"-sounds until it gets back to the right tuning. Every time I hear the pling-sound it kind of "jumps" a bit on my tuner instead of rising chromatic. Why is this happening to me? :smithicide:

It's just the second stock base drum.

What sort of guitar is it? It might just be a bad guitar.

Yeah, either it's a crappy guitar, or it's old strings.

That sounds like the strings are slipping out of your tuning pegs. Look up techniques online on how to string properly, particularly the "locking" technique. I do that on all my guitars (apart from my PRS which has locking tuners) and they all hold tune just as well as my PRS.
Doesn't matter which guitar it is, as long as the tuning pegs aren't about to snap off then it'll work great
I think that it's something with the strings, it's an Ibanez Art120 bk and I paid 500 - 600 US dollars for it. (I think it was worth 600 dollars but I got for like 150 dollars less).
Oh, but I didn't string it. But should I get new strings then or just put them on again?
New strings. Only bassists get away with reusing strings
Oh god rate this man agree
Anyway, Can someone tell me whats so special with a Vintage 30's speakers?

Vintage 30+Mesa. Best tone in the whole fucking world. Seriously though, just go to their website and listen to samples. Very warm, punchy speaker.
For starters, it is much more comfertable to play a keyboard like a bloody keyboard rather than a guitar. Second, people with keytars look like complete tossers playing their instrument.
Nah man if you're getting your werp-a-derp on it's nice to have all your articulation controls somewhere easier to get at than way off to the left where you get carpal tunnel. Keyboards are not really perfect for everything you'd ever do with a synthesizer ever.

Especially not if you're Jordan Rudess :smug:
