^New strings might help. I just put Elixirs on my acoustic for the first time and I'm having a major eargasm. When your guitar sounds good, it makes you want to play more.
I own an Ibanez GRG170DX... and I'm thinking of buying an Stagg F-300 GBK. It's 412 $ in the store. Worth it?
Well guys, I got a deal going with the orchestra teacher at my school! Since i'm a music fanatic, I play the violin, viola, cello, and bass for orchestra, i switch around and am the schools free tutor. I also play piano for them when I have to (UIL performances for awards, etc) SO since I did all of that, i asked if I could have one performance with my guitar right before they open up and play some old fake blues song re-written for orchestra. I chose "Little Wing" with my own solos, and just playing the break's and the intros (also the sweet chord changes). I can honestly finish this song within a week if I work non-stop, I have no core classes this year, it's a blow-off year (yes i can do that, i took all my classes over summer) I'm going to just work on simple stuff from them on in the song and fix minor errors, but it's all the way in October for our "Monster Concert" I was wondering, what should I do to prepare for that night. So far I know: Powder on my ballsack. Piss out everything in my bladder. It's just a cover-band kind of thing, since SRV's birthday is in the beginning of october. [editline]10:30PM[/editline] Oh, and I got a TS-9, an '80s amp - Mesa/Boogie Mark IIC with the EQ settings on it. I get a great sound outta that, and I have a 1960's Fender Stratocaster from when my dad, it's got texas pickups on it, and I rewired it myself since everything was pretty much broken when I got it.

I'm going to begin playing the bass guitar, but don't have much money for it, what do you guys recommend starting with?
Somebody post me some open chord progressions I need to practise how to transpose them into bar chords Any will do, go ahead
C F E7 Am F C D7 G [editline]01:29PM[/editline] C // Dm // C // G //
[D A Bm F♯m G D E7 A]
I'm going to begin playing the bass guitar, but don't have much money for it, what do you guys recommend starting with?
Well it depends on your cash. Invest in something decent, but not too expensive. Decent, so that if you carry on, you've got something good to play, but not so expensive that you lose a boatload on a bass you would have to sell secondhand. Search around ebay and gumtree and the like, look for ads in local papers, music shops might have deals on, et cetera.
Oh my god, Moog made a guitar that uses a magnetic field to have infinite sustain: http://www.moogmusic.com/moogguitar/
Oh my god, Moog made a guitar that uses a magnetic field to have infinite sustain: http://www.moogmusic.com/moogguitar/
That's neato! Though the use probably has its limits. I wonder how it would be to shred with that mode turned on.
I'm debating. Should I get a new amp (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-Pathfinder-15R-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=481948), new multi-effects pedal (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/DigiTech-RP500-Guitar-Multi-Effects-Pedal?sku=155502), or a keyboard? (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Casio-WK210-76Key-Digital-Keyboard-Workstation?sku=485469 or better if someone can recommend one) I only know how to play guitar so I thought it'd be nice to learn something else, and the keyboard/piano seems pretty versatile and good to have for composing and whatnot. However, my only amp is a Frontman 15G, and I'm not entirely satisfied with it anymore. And that multi-effects pedal is just badass. Any suggestions?
I only know how to play guitar so I thought it'd be nice to learn something else, and the keyboard/piano seems pretty versatile and good to have for composing and whatnot.
Most cheap Casios taste like MIDI and have terrible key action (it's like synth action but shittier somehow.) If you wanted to learn on something that was a chore to play, go ahead, but I recommend against it.
Well, I wasn't set on that one in particular, when I said it was versatile and everything I meant keyboards in general. Is there a better one around that price (or a little higher) you could recommend?
Don't get the multi-FX.
Eh, I wasn't really thinking I was going to, I've already got a smaller one from the older series so I don't really need a new one any time soon. Just figured I'd throw it in for debate :v: This Yahama look nice? http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-PSRE413-61Key-Portable-Keyboard?sku=706168 or should I forget the keyboard and go for a new amp?
An example of the ability of the Moog guitar:
Yeah, drop the E, drop the A, leave the D, drop the G, up the B, drop the E. Floppiest one is the A, still playable though.
I think DADDAD would be a better tuning because the A and B wouldn't be so loose and it would introduce some 5ths in there and make it sound bigger than all D's. Tuning up the G would give you another A but I really don't like tuning up. [editline]05:59PM[/editline]
Don't get the multi-FX.
Multi-effects pedals are very nice for getting a lot of possible sounds for cheap. A lot of people seem to have a big bias against them, but really, amp simulators can sound pretty authentic, just look at Amplitube. Anyway, I recommend the keyboard, keyboard is a lot of fun to play and you can download a lot of instruments for it. For some reason I find keyboard drumming to be fun.
Oh my god, Moog made a guitar that uses a magnetic field to have infinite sustain: http://www.moogmusic.com/moogguitar/
You can get the same effect in any guitar you want with a Fernandes Sustainer or Sustainiac circuits. But the Moog guitar is still fuckin epic win.
Prepare for neck dive :v:
My Harley Benton does that.
That Moog E1 is absolutely amazing.
I've got an 05 Fender Squier Strat with humbucker and a 1995 Washburn D-10N 6 string that I treat like a child. Along with my Epiphone DR-212 Natural Model 12 string acoustic.

The one you linked doesn't seem to have that function. However, if you don't care for piano music that much, I wouldn't worry about it.
moog guitar isn't all that new I thought?
