Yeah but that wouldn't be as cool :smug:
8-string guitars are often used to create heavier riffs by playing the lower notes, like in this.

The whole Catch 33 album is better than obZen imo, it's a lot more complex and interesting.
Also heavier.
The whole Catch 33 album is better than obZen imo, it's a lot more complex and interesting.
Yet obZen is much more groovy. I don't know complexity with Meshuggah never caught me as much as there rhythms and groove.
How hard would it be to place a DiMarzio humbucker in a Jazzmaster?

Agreed

Best example :buddy:
I think this is tuned to the A# below the F# standard on 8 strings.

Who are the first 2?
Who are the first 2?
Jimi Hendrix and Dimebag Darrell
My own list of course
I feel BB King should be there somewhere
I really want a V. I don't know if I want a Rhoads or a King V, I just know I don't like the Epi/Gibson look. Anyone know of anything with a Floyd? :D
Look at the Jackson Rhoads RX10D, it has a flloyd but im not sure if its any good

I absolutely agree with your list :D
Look at the Jackson Rhoads RX10D, it has a flloyd but im not sure if its any good
The Floyd on the Jackson X's is terrible. The RR3 would be a much better investment

What about Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci?
i never understood the commotion about more strings, it's not that much of a difference. i used to have a 7 string Ibanez, that was once of the first guitars I sold.
my 300 dollar strat and my steinberger do everything that you can do with your fancy 7 string guitar and show guitars. :glomp:
Dream Theater. John Petrucci has about a dozen songs total that flat-out require a 7-string, such as The Glass Prison and A Change of Seasons. Sure you could transpose the song if you exclude all solos, but it makes it ALOT harder to play.
It's always nice to have more notes to work with.
I don't understand why people get upset about others wanting a guitar with more than six strings, or a bass with more than four.
Yeah the bass one really perplexes me. Go ahead, try to play any Dream Theater song on a 4-string bass. More specifically, try to play a song like Metropolis, or The Dance of Eternity, or Panic Attack with a 4-string bass.
If the sound you want requires the extra range, why not take the extra range?
What about Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci?
Well John Petrucci is in slot 0. Because nothing can beat god itself.
Paul Gilbert is number 4 I suppose. He's good but I think Vai is more inventive.
If the sound you want requires the extra range, why not take the extra range?
Some people don't like the feel of more strings, I find a 4 string bass the most comfertable to play.
David Gilmour. :colbert:

My classic idol. I love everything about his tone. If I'm not playing metal, I'm attempting to imitate Gilmour's tone and feel.

You really shouldn't use power chords with lower tunings, with drop A they're fine but after that they start to get muddy.
You were either using power chords or the sound was just plain muddy @ 0.40.
I don't think there was anything else wrong in that song, good job.

It was intended like that, that isn't a power chord, it is scratching my low tuned E string! My powerchords sound clear and good.

Umm, not really. He's my favorite guitarist, but definitely not the best.
Would anyone recommend me a combo amp in the $250-$300 range?
well, im not the gearhead on amps but, Peavys are good, Marshalls, Roland maybe, deff not line 6(Dont bash me i said i was not the gearhead i use some experience)
David Gilmour is the best guitarist out there, no doubt.
Quite a bit of doubt.

Personally, I think Robert Fripp is one of, if not the best, currently living guitarist, but that's just my opinion. :v:

I'm going to pick me up a bow this week. The bow + delay + reverb = non-stop ambience.
Hey guys, I am a bit torn with guitar choices right now. I want a V shaped/style guitar. I already have an ESP EX-401DX which is a great guitar, but because of the Floyd Rose, tuning down is a major pain since I like to play Metallica's Load album and Megadeth's Youthanasia album sometimes. I don't really want a Dean or B.C. Rich. I am leaning towards ESP or Jackson. Price range is probably $1000, but I would be willing to earn some more money, it would just take sometime.
So far the ESP LTD V-401 has me interested as well as the RR5. I can get the V-401 for $500, and the RR5 for about $900.
I play Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Judas Priest, and occasionally Slayer.
tl;dr Any suggestions for V's without Tremolo's under $1000
Don't get a V
