Ideas for food (That can be easily stored/carried/cooked)
Pasta/Rice
Easy to cook. Most people will eat it. Easy to make a meal from.
Tinned Food
Simple & practical
-Tuna, tomatoes, potatoes, SPAM! etc.
Bread & Meat
Bread might last a day or two before going stale. Meat will go off quickly if not refrigerated. Unless there is a shop nearby, then these aren't going to be very viable.
Pot Noodles & Instant Soup
Just add water. Good if we are running low on stuff to make a real meal, or just cba cooking.
Chocolate =]
Good source of energy, and fucking delicious.
Drinks
Tea / Coffee
For when you get bored of drinking water. Milk may be an issue unless there is a shop nearby or you can bear that UHT stuff.
Water bottles
1x 1.5-2L - for the camp site for storing water if needed
1x 1L - for when we go for a wander
Alcohol
Bring it if you want. Share it if you want. Don't go too crazy.
Anymore ideas, other than finding a cafe?
Other tips:
-Frozen bottles of water make good ice packs to keep food fresh.
-Putting food/drinks in a plastic bag (with no holes) and putting it in some water could help keep it cool.
-If you can bring a cool box, fill some big resealable freezer bags with water and freeze before you come. This could offer a good solution for keeping food frozen for a day or two so we can have some real meat.
Also, if you haven't been in the thread for a while and still planning oncoming, I suggest you read this:
Milk may be an issue unless there is a shop nearby or you can bear that UHT stuff.
I drink it all the time...
-snip-
I can some long life milk that lasts months,
Ouch.
This is so ironic, i couldve written "rage." but it woulda been like half that epic.
Oh, and if you can bring any stoves/pans/mess tins/plastic plates/cutlery or anything that will help with cooking would be great.
If you are reasonably good at cooking, please make yourself known now.
The site was booked last month, I'm still waiting for everyone to get their fingers out of their arses and give me details about the tents
New attendance list. You're only going on it if you prove to me that you have bought a train ticket (or in the rare event that you're driving);

Me (Tent 1)

Bengley (Tent 2)

Tea (Tent 2)

HarryG321 (Tent 3)

ffffff- (Tent 3)

Acezorz (Tent 4)

cherry gmod (Tent 5)
To get on the list, PM me a photo of your train tickets or send me a screenshot of your booking email. If you're driving then PM me and let me know. It might also be a good idea to tell me what arrangements you have made regarding tents - whether you're planning to sleep in someone's tent or bring your own. Sort this out between yourselves.
Failure to appear on this list by the 10th of July means you don't get to come. That's an entire two weeks for you to get your affairs in order.
Reiterating this list
Ding
Still coming, PM'd gestapo.
Seeya there.
"As such, we will remove any person who is acting in an inappropriate manner." but, then who will be left once everyone is kicked out?
Be mature, don't get kicked out.
Make sure you bring lots of batteries for the camera, because I really want to see this.

Having just got back from a similar (although more heavily orientated toward walking/climbing) expedition in Scotland here are a few recommendations:
-Make that at least 1l for carrying on a wander, take more than you need, someone's guaranteed to run out (several experienced walkers in our group who should have known better only carried 0.5l for an afternoon and ran out (granted we climbed Ben Nevis, but it still applies) carry more than you will need.
-If you can get your act together and co-ordinate with a few people for dinner, it'll be much cheaper (12 of us eating large amounts for 5 days, using all our studenty knowledge managed to get the price down to £10 per head and it only cost that much because we had a bbq, meat is expensive)
-Pot noodles are mainly salt and not good. Super noodles are passable if you consume them in conjunction with other food to make a meal, better off just buying a big bag of pasta and some sauce sachets.
-Tinned corned beef is delicious, tinned potato is best eaten fried. Cheap museli is also delicious.
-"long life" Morrissons bread (74p a big loaf) will keep for 3 or 4 days.
-Potatoes don't need to be tinned and taste better if they aren't, stew can be pretty delicious, but you'll want to club together to do that.
Other stuff
- Sun cream. Bring it.
Aww... I live in NE Arkansas. We need something like that around here :/ Who wants to have something like that around here? Mississipi/ Missouri could work too, I guess. Anyone?

Hand Make Burgers (mince + onions), build a big fire, use a grided oven shelf to cook.( or a shopping trolley) or TIN FOIL wrap it up and throw it in. will last a few days if made fresh and kept in a tupperware box.
POTATOES same thing wrap in foil throw them in the fire, or throw them in the embers at the end of the night for a hot breakfast.
Take a cool box find a nearby stream or lake, tie it down with stones and use it to refridgerate food.
I swear by that Morrisons long life bread, it is awesome.
And yeah you can by long life milk in the plastic bottles, I'll be bringing some of that.
And lots of Bacon Brunch, that stuff is lush.
Bringing some baked beans and other various tinned food.
Hezzy, do I need to pm if I don't need a ticket or not?
God damn I love cooking.
Also most of the foods on the list are for the most part non-perishable although we're only staying for a few days. We're not going to be doing Bear Grylls extreme survival. :v:
[editline]d[/editline]
Also, I have some ACF ration packs left over from my time there, the only part worth eating is the corned beef hash-in-a-bag, and even that tasted pretty disgusting.
Hezzy, do I need to pm if I don't need a ticket or not?
How are you planning to get there?
If I drive it would take me 2 hours 55 minutes.
How are you planning to get there?
I can get a lift with my dad since I just live in windermere. Is it possible you could point out where the site is on a map or something?
@Acezors I think it's just 3 spots that are taken, I can't quite remember. There's my spot, I think courage has one and I can't remember who the third was, might've been you though.
Yeah I did ask for one, thanks for clearing that up.
Just over 20 days left. Any more confirmations?
Viper, what are the room arrangements for your tent?
And are you definitely sure you can bring this tent, I need to make sure that I don't need to bring mine, just in case.
So yeah Viper, PM me so I know what's happening bro
