FL Studio's 35% off now. And all of their plugins 50%.

This seems insanely irrelevant to the thread.

Okay.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I am currently using the tutorials on the Image Line site.

The video is telling me to right click the pattern and click Clone Selected.

FL Pickup Series >>> Playlist Editor
I have no option to clone selected. Just wondering if any of you can help.

Do you have the same version of FL Studio as the one the tutorial is using?

That's because you're clicking the track, not the pattern.

Do you mean this?

Oh nevermind, you are clicking the track, not the pattern. Well, I've used to do it the way I showed :v:
Reason is fun but like someone mentioned it's limited. Reason 6 improves upon it but I'm fairly certain it still lacks support for VSTs, which most DAWS use. I'm looking into switching over to Ableton or FL Studio. Ableton seems really confusing to me though.
I just realized that another thing I really love about FL compared to Logic (only other DAW I have) is how you can rightclick pretty much every knob/slider and automate it or link it to something. Shame it only really works with Image-line's plugins though. The 'browse all paramaters' function at least shows you the last parameter you changed though, so that's pretty cool.
The way Logic handles automation just frustrates me to no end. You have to scroll through a huge-ass list to find the parameter you're looking for.
Not hating on Logic here by the way. I'm sure it's partly me being a retard. :v:

Tweak the parameter you want to automate, then go to "tools -> last tweaked -> create automation clip". You can do this to any knob in any VST as far as I know. :v:
Holy shit thanks!
I've used FL9 for the longest time and moved over to FL10 a few months ago. I though they'd got rid of that feature. I mean, wasn't it in the fruity wrapper that contains the VST in older FL versions? That's where I've been looking for it.

Man I feel like a retard now. :v:

I have logic for recording live stuff, but I haven't put the time into it for electronic music. You think it's worth learning?
It's definitely worth it. You could really spice up some of your live recordings with some electronic elements, and try some original things. :)

I want to eventually get into making dubstep, unfortunately that is something I haven't found I've been able to do in Reason. You think I could do it in Logic?
You can do it both in Logic and Reason.
It might be easier to get faster results in Logic, since you can use the almighty NI Massive for some wobbles (I don't use it myself, but it is used a lot for dubstep :v:) but it's not impossible to do in Reason as well.
I haven't really tried Reason myself, but I know a few people that do. The down side (or, the plus side, depending on how you see it) with Reason is the fact that it doesn't support external vst's.
I use FL Studio. It's my first DAW and very handy. but FL Studio needs some better or more mastering features.

Like what? Usually you shouldn't do that much when mastering. EQ a little, get some balance, throw on a limiter and multiband compressor and tighten it up a bit(maximus is fucking great).
I use Reaper.
It's free and easy to use.
That reminds me, I still need to check out Reaper.

I know you can do it in Reason. But I very rarely see good results.
The only thing I can't stand about Logic compared to FL Studio and Pro-tools, is that you can't re-arrange insert slots
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, it's perfectly possible to re-arrange insert slots in Logic
Hold down command and start dragging a slot around on the grid

Really?
I'll have to try that out later this day.
I've been fucking searching for ages for a way to do this. :v:

Most people would see it as a bad thing, but Reason's in-house instruments and modules are very powerful and intuitive, not to mention the routing system makes anything possible.
And doing dubstep in Reason is not only possible, it's quite easy (from a sound-design standpoint.. no music is really that easy to make if you want to do it properly).
I know, that's why I mentioned it could be a plus side as well.
I actually think it's a good thing that you're limited to Reason's own selection of plugins, because you won't be swimming in millions of third party plugins, trying to find "the right one".
I've actually started narrowing down my own selection of plugins I use, to the point that I only use 1 or 2 VSTi's for all my synth sounds.
Yo guys. Just wanted to stop in here and say that Renoise is dope. I can manage using other daws but I've had the most success with it and actually I think that it's weird that most daws don't have any tracker style stuff in them at all seeing as how the demoscene was early computer music. Still want to check Renoise out as well.
