wait are you serious, how
In the summer I met I person who used to be a camera dealer but he has little idea of prices these days, he originally asked 100gbp but I haggled a bit so it's 75gbp and I'm picking it up this afternoon. Me and frag4life bought some stuff from him in the summer.
got a friend to 3d print all the caps I've lost for my lenses saved myself a whole bunch of cash would recommend
I need help, I'm thinking of getting a Nikon now, it's either between the D7100 and the D600. I can't decide. I'm slightly leaning towards the D600 as I found one on ebay for really cheap. Do you guys have any thoughts?
Ordered a Fujifilm S4800. Yesyes bridge camera idiot noob blablabla don't care. I'm 2poor for an actual DSLR or something so this is the next best thing. 30x zoom mannnn. Will be delivered tomorrow. MAXIUMUM HYPE.
as a first DSLR?
No, it will be an upgrade :D
yeah as long as you have full frame glass/money to buy nice full frame glass go for the D600 but be wary of the sensor issues they have that caused nikon to create the d610

MAXIUMUM HYPE.
I feel like something like one of Canon's Powershots might have been a better investment, things like "30x hyper super z00m" are pretty much just bait. When I started out I was also pretty focused on zoom for some weird reason as well, I guarantee you that none of your best pictures will be at 30x. 5x is perfectly fine to experiment with far away stuff. But as long as you're taking lots of pictures and learn from them it shouldn't matter that much which camera you have to start out with. Many people will recommend film because it's cheap to get started, but I think the immediate feedback from digital and the basically unlimited number of shots help a lot more.
I got my c330 yesterday, I forgot how big and heavy it is, I've already shot a roll through it that I'll dev tonight and scan it tomorrow in college on the hasselblad x1 Mamiya C330 by CommunistWolf, on Flickr
if you live somewhere where it's cheap to buy and develop film, yeah. obviously not as expensive as digital is at impact, but over time film is expensive too
Yep, but I rather meant getting the initial gear. I've got some film cameras but I never shoot them because of that feeling that every shot costs money... (I don't use my DSLR either but that's another story)
I never shoot them because of that feeling that every shot costs money...
This is the main reason I shoot film, especially BnW. Pushes you to take your time and get every shot right. And when you develop yourself it becomes even more personal.
i thought that would be the case, but i run through as many snapshits as i do with a DSLR. i've learned just to take my time with any camera medium
Selling my 24-105L if anyone's interested. Perfect condition, has had a £40 UV filter on it ever since it was bought. About 7 months old but hasn't been used for the last 3 or so due to getting a 24-70 II. Also, does anyone have an recommendations for camera bags that aren't really obviously camera bags? I know this was asked a few pages ago but I don't think there was a definitive answer 24-105 is sold now
ThinkTank Retrospective bags, Billingham, Ona, some Domkes.
ThinkTank Retrospective bags, Billingham, Ona, some Domkes.
Christ some of these bags are like £200+, I've been using a £30 messenger bag to carry all my gear for the last 3 years, it's old, worn out and needs replacing with a proper camera bag but I didn't expect them to be so much
How much do you want for that lens?
Was looking for around £400-450 I guess

proper bags are very pricey, and while the diaper bag might seem really dumb they are really well padded and insulated. plus they are pretty discrete i wouldn't imagine them being the first thing people would steal. radiology equipment bags are good for photo equipment as well alternatively i get bags from big camera bundles. people want to get rid of everything, and the included bags are usually pretty swell. if we lived in the same country i'd give you one of my spares for just shipping but probably wouldn't be cost effective to send overseas :(

I'll take 1
is there any reason ruggedized point and shoots all look so god damn ugly? Is there some kind of feature/design standpoint that makes them more element-proof and rugged or is it just supposed to impose the idea that they are stronger? pics of the new ricoh/pentax rugged cameras for reference
